With the new 2015/16 season officially underway following West Ham’s win over Lusitans in the UEFA Europa League first qualifying round first leg last night, we’re launching the Pre-Season Section of the site once again as we build-up towards the start of the new Premier League campaign.

The majority of the 20 Premier League sides are now back in pre-season training, with some teams facing their first friendlies towards the end of next week. So we’ve put together a list of every club’s summer schedule, plus we’ve linked every article published over the break for each team. You can visit the Pre-Season guide for a full rundown on all of the Scout Reports, Moving Targets, Great Expectations and Sleeper articles, in addition to our assessments of the three promoted sides, while we’ll also be adding our Fixture Analysis pieces shortly.

We’ll be updating the Pre-Season guide on a daily basis, adding every article upon publication. Each team also has their own “Scout Notes” and “Form Players” sections, which will be added to throughout the summer. We’ll be keeping a close eye on all the friendlies and, as well as rolling out plenty of Scout Scribbles articles to cover the matches, will be using this as a handy one-stop-shop to compile your guide ahead of next month’s big kick-off.

Which teams do people think have made the best and worst transfers so far in the prem?

Not much to choose from, but Arsenal the best so far surprisingly. 1 signing and quality.

West Ham and Stoke seem to be doing some good business, and signing Cech is huge for Arsenal. Liverpool could have done really well with Milner and Firmino, but it's hard to know yet - Firmino could be a massive flop.

I personally won't be expecting much from Firmino, by all accounts people rate him highly but apparently he's still a bit inconsistent. Not surprising at 23 though.

Sterling is a much better player at 20.

I wouldn't think so, Sterling is wildly inconsistent, his end product is miles off Firmino and what it should be.

He's been anything but inconsistent in Germany, despite playing for a midtable team.

In 13/14 he scored over 20 goals and tallied a high amount of assists too. That year, he showed the kind of form Kevin de Bruyne was in last season...

Obviously the PL is a stepup in competition though, but he's capable.

I'm not saying that, he's getting to that point for sure where he can be a consistent star for a team, it was just a slight concern I heard, and I wouldn't get on his back if he needed a bit of time to adapt fully.

Fair enough, similar to my thoughts on Memphis personally. Certainly won't be expecting instant fireworks there, he may need a bit of bedding in time.

Having said that, he's also capable. 🙂

I read an article recently by a german journalist who seemed to reckon that Firminho was one of the best talents that he had seen in the Bundesliga over the past 20 years

That's a tad over the top possibly, but as someone that's watched him weekly for the past 2/3 years, I can safely say he's been extremely consistent.

That journo could possibly be basing that mostly on the 13/14 season though, as I said above, he lit the league up that year. At times it seemed like he scored or assisted two every week. 😛

The Wire is hands down the best show I have ever seen even (although the last season was a bit off) though Breaking Bad is fantastic. Both are absolutely worth a watch if you have time but if you HAD to choice I would go with The Wire.

I think Breaking Bad is fantastic entertainment, but I don't think it has the depth of The Wire or The Sopranos. I finished Breaking Bad and never really thought about it again. I still think of The Wire 7/8 years since I first watched it, it's a masterpiece that I don't think anything else has matched.

The Sopranos and Six Feet Under come closer than Breaking Bad imo.

Both excellent in different ways. As a complete collection of seasons Breaking Bad is slightly better. From start to end it is perfect and presents a perfect circle in its story telling. Plus it is one of the best modern westerns made in TV or film since Spencer Tracey limped into town in the 1955 film Bad Day At Black Rock.

But as a single season, the fourth of The Wire is peerless. Its depiction of the effect of gang life and drugs on kids is incredible and moving. The slightly weaker Season 5 of The Wire though means as a complete show Breaking Bad has the edge.

They remain in a small collection of TV series that are just incredibly well put together drama. It's an elite collection that will differ for many, but for me also includes The Sopranos, Our Friends in the North and The Shield.

JWP earned only 72 points last year at a PPG of 2.9.

He could easily still be 4.5m

Actually, I think he started at 5.0m and dropped. Wanyama was 4.5m and returned 2.5 PPG so he might be the pick if JWP is price at 5.

Evening all. Interested to hear who you guys think Wenger should go for in the transfer market? For me a striker is the priority, and of those available my short list would be:

    Higuain
    Lacazette
    Cavani
    Benteke
    Aubameyan

    Possibly in that order. Thoughts?

No I just remember reading that any chance of a move to England this summer is off, and by that next summer you'd say he'd go to somewhere like PSG or those clubs you've mentioned.

Me too, I just don't like the circumstances for this one.

It'll be alcohol fuelled, a load of scummy Manchester United fans coming down for the EDL protest, clashing with the Villa fans, riots that night, a few broken skulls of some of Birmingham's ethnic population, followed by the protest the next day.

I was in Newcastle while there was an EDL protest in 2013 I think. I was in the city centre, didn't realise there was a protest going on. It was horrible!

        Ahh well that's probably why.

Either way, I just don't like how they are promoting the EDL march. I wouldn't have even known about it, but I do now. It'll certainly draw a bigger crowd and Villa Park is an ideal meeting place.

The most annoying thing is I'm actually in Birmingham on Friday night. Staying there all week with work, was going to spend Friday night there and see Hull play away at Wolves on the Saturday. Might book a hotel for Wolverhampton on the Friday now!!

Enes Unal, the highly-rated Bursaspor 18-year-old, is to undergo a medical at Manchester City on Friday, and is expected to move the Etihad for a fee believed to be £2m, reports The Guardian.

Just when I thought City was in the market for home grown players, they go out and buy an 18 year old foreign striker. They have lost it, haven't they? Could just be bollocks though.

So what are the rules for players that are U-21 again? They don't need to be homegrown? Or does that suggest that he will go to the academy rather than their squad?

There are no rules on U21s, you don't need to register them and you can use as many as you like over the season

It's all potential. It always remains to be seen whether or not its fulfilled, and for the ones that truly do live up to the hype they never retain the 'new X' tag because they are their own players, with their own skills, strengths and weaknesses.

I would like to hope there will be better options, purely because I think overall the top 6-7 sides will be more consistent and play far better than last year, and with that more viable options springing up. Particularly United and Liverpool may pique my interest but hopefully Saints, Spurs (other than Kane perhaps?) and of course Arsenal will offer something we can really latch onto in their price bracket.

Skrtel is one to watch, the media is reporting an apparent new contract, but it remains to be seen what actually is being done, Ilori has been given some guarantees, and I personally would would prefer him to be given his chance. Realistically you must consider the whole squad, and varying formations (4-4-2 diamond again?). Lallana, Sturridge, Lucas, Ibe and then Flanno and Wisdom? Also Origi can play wider so perhaps he'll make an appearance? What I really mean is that is just one potential lineup on one particular day.

I think you could also consider a midfield of:

      ----- Can
      Hendo - Milner
      ---- Couts

      1. Licky

Hey guys, was hoping someone could help me. I play in a draft league and need help deciding my first pick for next season. It's safe to say Aguero and Hazard will likely be gone quickly. So was thinking costa would be my best choice if I don't get first pick? Any thoughts? last season I was missing a big hitter striker.

    1. Licky
      • 13 Years

In a draft league maybe, he should be pretty consistent. Perhaps Liverpool could provide value if they do well only as they may go under the radar. Generally your lucky for consistency so try to pick fit players who'll keep knocking points up over a larger period. Walcott for flair perhaps? Though if one of Hazard, Sanchez or Rooney is available take them in my opinion.

yeah I tend to agree if they get Shaq

but I think we'll see something like

                  Arnie/Walters, Bojan, Shaq

                  Diouf/Joselu

Aye, agree with most of that but can't see Adam playing in double pivot, doesn't really have the legs for it. When Adam played last season (during Bojan's injury layoff) it was always in the hole.

Sure, that could change when Bojan is back in the team, but I still don't see Adam playing CM (N'Zonzi, Whelan).

                        Yep.

Really don't see Adam in a midfield two though. If he plays, he'll be #10 with Bojan left, or just backup #10 to Bojan.

It is a bit disturbing. There is quite a lot to cheer about in the tennis! 😆

        Going well for the natives?

It's my least favourite grand slam actually, which is odd for a Swede maybe.
First time in well over 30 years I have not seen a minute from Wimbledon

Aah that is special, but it is in times like these Serena brings out the big gun usually. She isoften a slow starter

yeah I'm expecting a turn-around but the expectation was that Serena would cruise through
