The Dead Team Challenge – 2015/16

I would like to invite everyone to take part in the second coming of the Dead Team Challenge, whereby Fantasy managers pick a Fantasy Premier League team and stick with it without making any changes all season. In short its the ultimate Fantasy game for lazy people.

LAST SEASON’S RESULTS

Last season’s competition went right down to the wire with four teams in the running on the final day of the season. In the end Athletico Timbo wound up as the winner with a highly respectable 1912 points, just beating out Mull (1910), Kroos Control (1909) and Il Burrito (1905). The full results can be seen on this spreadsheet if you would like to see how you or anyone else went.

HOW IT WORKS

The idea is simple, your aim is to build the highest scoring team for the whole season with the initial 100m budget at your disposal. It involves absolutely no effort after that. There are no transfers or captain changes at all throughout the season (i.e, it’s an actual dead team). You’ll want to make sure that you pick nailed on players only, and perhaps a consistent points scorer for captain, but I’m sure everyone will have their own strategies.

The maverick in you, however, might see this as the perfect opportunity to take some punts. Feel free to do that but be aware of the risks.

Unfortunately, if someone gets injured or dropped for any period of time during the season, then that’s it, you just have to hope that your bench is strong enough to cope with the loss.

Sound like fun?

WHAT YOU NEED TO DO

Decide on your team, based on the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) pricing meaning you have exactly 100m to spend, so it is a legitimate start-of-the-season FPL team (you don’t have to spend it all, but you cannot exceed 100m). Pick your preferred formation (any legal FPL formation is acceptable).

Once you have decided on your squad, how do you go about entering it?

That is as simple as submitting this form. If you wish to change your team then you can simply resubmit the form (I will take the latest submission from each person, providing it’s before the deadline).

WHEN YOU NEED TO DO IT

The deadline is set @ Midnight BST Friday night (Aug 7) so please submit your team before then.

SOME TECHNICAL STUFF

I have greatly improved the efficiency of the spreadsheet used last season (weekly updates will take ~30 seconds instead of the ~30 mins that it took last season), so updates should be much more frequent. As with last season it will automatically calculate captain points and auto subs etc., upon the manual entry of players’ weekly scores.

As a result, you DO NOT need to enter this team into an actual FPL account, filling out the form will suffice.

THE LEAGUE

As mentioned above I will keep an updated league table on my spreadsheet so anyone who wants to check on their progress.

I am considering emailing out updates as I complete them each week, so if you would like to receive these then simply leave your email address where marked in the form.

IMPROVEMENTS

If anyone has any additional features you would like to see included in the competition then feel free to let me know with a post below.

I’m hoping that some of you pick an absolute gem of a team and finish inside the Top 10k or something, which would be a remarkable achievement for a dead team. Thanks and good luck.

I just looked at my team in this, it's shocking.
The only plus I have is that I have mahrez, but he's probably acconting for about half of my team pts on his own.
Do we get final standings at the end of the season?

Would also like to see the final standings (if possible)!

Had a sidebet with a friend, and its down to every last autosub to decide who is the winner, as it is really close. And we both had players not playing for big parts of the season (Shaw, Skrtl, Hendo, Aguero, Benteke).
