Welcome to the latest in our new regular article series gathering our community’s tales of joy and woe from the last Gameweek in the Fantasy Premier League (FPL) game. This will look at the key decisions made that proved either inspired or saw overall ranks plummet.
This week saw owners of Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez rejoice, while Theo Walcott and Eden Hazard captainers were left to lick their wounds.
The Rough
Taffer was amongst those who had a FPL Gameweek from hell, with his captain Eden Hazard blanking and his defence mustering no points with Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin and Bournemouth’s Tyrone Mings, failing to play and his substitute Sunderland’s Sebastian Coates bringing his -1 into his starting XI. Going into Monday night’s game he had high hopes for Raheem Sterling. The young English winger failed to oblige and he ended the week with just 21 points.
Last minute changes cost Jones Tone dearly, after removing Manchester United’s impressive defender Matteo Darmian for the less than impressive Arsenal man Per Mertesacker. Meanwhile, Moin was left cursing his punt on Crystal Palace’s new striker Connor Wickham.
Zeslinguer was another 11th hour tweaker, whose decision to drop Cesar Azpilicueta for the non player Hector Bellerin cost him seven points, the Chelsea man’s six plus Coates and his minus point coming off the bench.
The Smooth
This week’s Smoothest Operator was FFScout’s very own Andy. His audacious captaining of Mahrez was just the start of a stellar week, with Villa’s Micah Richards and his eight points coming off his bench to replace the non playing Bournemouth man Tyrone Mings. Alexsander Kolorov also helped out as he finished with 63 points and a top 20,000 ranking.
Other smooth operators included One in a Minion, who played his bench boost from the off and saw Mahrez and Villa’s Bacuna’s 20 points added to his final tally.
The Dark Knight’s tinkerings 15 minutes before the deadline proved inspired as Nacir Chadli was removed to be replaced with the Gameweek’s hero Mahrez. Kase II was another who drafted in the Leicester midfielder at the last minute, in his case to afford Sergio Aguero.

Feel almost lucky with my Rooney (c) after reading some of those roughs.
