Suspensions

The Suspension Tightrope – Gameweek 8

Gameweek 8 saw two more players topple off the Suspension Tightrope as we head into the second international break of the season. Sunderland centre-back Sebastian Coates was the first guilty party after earning his fifth yellow of 2015/16 in the second half of yesterday’s home draw against West Ham.

Coates will now miss the Black Cats’ trip to West Brom next time out as the Wearsiders prepare for life without Dick Advocaat after the Dutchman resigned earlier today.

This afternoon, Coates was joined by Tottenham’s Eric Dier, who has now been booked in five of the first eight league matches in his new central midfield role. The 10%-owned defender, who had been drafted in by over 25,000 Fantasy Premier League (FPL) managers prior to today’s caution, will now miss the Gameweek 9 home encounter with Liverpool.

Despite losing those two to suspension, the Tightrope now boasts ten faces – three more than last weekend.

Ciaran Clark, Jeffrey Schlupp, Jack Colback, Billy Jones and Dele Alli all remain on four yellows and are joined by five new entries this time round. City pair Eliaquim Mangala and Fernandinho incurred the referee’s wrath in yesterday’s 6-1 romp over Newcastle at the Etihad, whilst West Ham’s Mark Noble is another fresh recruit after collecting a yellow card in the 2-2 stalemate at Sunderland.

Oriol Romeu is also added to the mix. The midfielder picked up his fourth caution in as many league starts for Southampton against former club Chelsea yesterday – he’s managed that feat in just 371 minutes of top-flight action. Earlier today, United full-back Matteo Darmian found his way into the referee’s notebook in the 3-0 loss to Arsenal.

The weekend brought further woe for the Black Cats, with Jeremain Lens set to miss the Gameweek 9 trip to the Hawthorns. The Dutchman – whose goal in yesterday’s draw means he played a part in five of the Wearsiders’ eight goals under Advocaat – was dismissed after receiving cautions for fouls on Carl Jenkinson and Winston Reid either side of the half-time break against the Hammers.

In terms of newly available players, Chelsea’s Diego Costa, Watford’s Valon Behrami and Everton wide man Kevin Mirallas are all in the frame in Gameweek 9 after they served the last of three-match bans for violent conduct this weekend.

Cristiano's last 85 free kicks (club and country):
            > 34 into the wall
            > 25 saved by keeper
            > 23 missed wide
            > 1 off woodwork
            > 2 goals

Have you seen him crossing from a free kick? He misses most of his indirect free kicks, and he takes a lot of them. From a small sample a high goals/shot rate will probably regress towards the mean, and probably will. I'd rather look at the passes to assess his accuracy.

Ladies and gents - Sejad Salihović. His top 10, just watch some of the top ones in disbelief.

      https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0BRKwjN6Y2w

Just amazing, he could score them from any range. Really miss watching the incredible technique he had on his free-kicks for Hoffenheim, since last year was his final, he now plays in China. Had that same peculiar stance when he took penalties too.

Junuzović, Çalhanoglu, Eriksen, Pjanić, Sigurdsson also right up there - in that kind of order for me.

Calhanoglu overall. Presently Eriksen and Mata are best in PL

Baines is good too, If only he was bit selfish. I don't think he has taken more than 30 free kicks Direct Fks in his Everton career, scored around 6-8 from those.

Also surprised no mention of Messi

That's a toughy with Lewa there as well. I'd maybe say 4th.

          Ronnie 1st
          Suarez/Lewa/Sergio 2-4th depending on form.

Would Ayew and Deeney to Gosling and Pelle be a decent move. 2 FTs?

    Kasper, Butland
    Kolarov Gomez Dawson Francis Huth
    Sanchez Payet KDB Mahrez Westwood
    Aguero Ighalo Martial

    1FT.

    A. Martial Gomez > Pellè Cedric -4
    B. Martial > Pellè FT
    C. Huth Igahlo > 4.5 defender, Vardy

    -12 Option...

Azpi, Cresswell, Fletcher (4.4 on Browning at 4.0 right now) & Martial > Souaré, (4.4Def), Sanchez & Ighalo

Never taken a big hit like this, but team would be:

    Myhill (McCarthy)
    Kolarov / Souaré / Francis / Nyom / (4.4)
    KDB / Sanchez / Mahrez / Payet / Mané
    Aguero / Vardy / Ighalo

Midfield would be very strong. Defence takes a hit for sure. Hmm...

    ---------------- Butland | Schwarzer-------------------
    Kolarov | Monreal | Williams | Evans | Richards |
Sanchez | De Bruyne | Pedro* | Mahrez | Westwood
    ----------------Aguero | Martial | Ighalo----------------

    £0.0 ITB

I'm set on shipping Pedro this week. Which would you folks prefer out of Payet and Mane? I have neither Southampton or West Ham cover.

    Cheers!

I'm not sure - fixtures say keep, but form says sell. Not overly impressed by Swansea and other than his goal today Ayew was very quiet by the looks of things.

Holding, he's been involved in goals in 3 of 4 home games.

MNF at home to Stoke the next game. Mane can wait a week.

Mane last 4 week: 15 goal attempts

Ayew last 4 weeks: 4 goal attempts

I just flipped Ayew to Mane aided by the prospect of a juicy goal fest v Lei

Rarely ask for help here but my current team is:

    Butland

    Bellerin Cedric Evans Huth Richards

    Hazard Mane Payet Mata Richie

    Deeney Aguero Vadry

Obviously the order of the day is that i need Sanchez. I ant to keep Hazard so my options are take a -8 (Mata to Sanchez, Richie and another to cheaper options) or wildcard.

Is a wildcard worth it when id only probably make 5 changes?

I wouldn't wildcard, your team is good enough to not need to tear it apart.

      How much money ITB?

I wouldn't Wildcard just to fit in Sanchez. Start with Richie -> 4.5 mid... then Mata -> Sanchez
