Following on from my look earlier this week at some of the key contenders to replace Manchester City’s injured striker Sergio Aguero I’ve decided to take a look at some more options.

In this latest Members Community article those under examination include strikers who just missed the cut for the first article as well as those who may have flown under the radar or may tickle the fancy of those who want to go for a ‘puntier’ option.

It is, isn't it? I checked after posting by logging off. Try logging off and seeing if you can see it.

It is, don't worry. Unfortunately, I can't see it! (or maybe that's just what I'd like you to believe 😉 )

    Very nice couple of articles.

This has been so thoroughly discussed on here, and been considered to such length by any serious FPL players, that I reckon a lot of people will read your advice and choose to hear what they want to hear.

For instance, in your earlier article you dismissed the idea of getting Costa, saying that Chelsea "have shown no signs of turning their form around", which I decided to read as "Chelsea are due to turn their form around".

    Aguero--> (C)osta

We spoke about that on the scoutcast last night re Chelsea. Some will look at form and say they are not worth drafting in. Some will look at the team over a number of years and decide that they have to turn it around at some point and why not against Villa.

I'm in the middle and giving them a week or two to see. But I have been encouraged by Costa's admission that he was out of shape and has been working hard on his fitness the last fortnight.

I still haven't made the transfer because I don't believe in it enough! It's not normal, statistical, form, logic I'm using, but more a "feeling". Chelsea "need" a win, Costa "needs" to perform. Mourinho is relying on Costa, and praised his aggressive performance against Arsenal; he will be expecting Costa to lead my example.

And, as you say, his admission to being out of shape gives confidence of a determination to improve.

None of these things are the types of traditional data we normally use to select players, but it just feels so tempting to bring him in.

I understand he is trying to get back to full fitness. But it takes longer to be effective. Shaw was unfit for a while and when he gained full fitness he was awesome. So I think Costa has a few more weeks left until he's back

That's my thinking... sounds like his fitness is back and Villa at the Bridge is the best place to start a revival

I'd imagine it references Pelle, Lukaku, Costa, Sturridge and Bony. Could be some outsiders though. Sometimes I wish I had members.

Cameron Jerome? Wow, glad I'm a member or I'd never have had him pegged as the best option

He's a great option most seasons.... for Championship fantasy football

To be fair he's playing a Championship standard team this weekend - anything could happen.

What we thinking? 1FT, 0.6 ITB

    Myhill - Butland

    Kolarov - Reid - Dawson - Richards - Huth

    Sanchez - Toure - Pedro - Mahrez - Anya

    Aguero - Vardy - Sakho

This seems odd considering he had a groin issue but then went and played for Chile with apparently no further issues...

    Thanks Rodallegabomb!

I think Bafe Gomis is a much better shout than many have suggested on here. You talk about his split in form between his first four games and last four games, but as a big fixtures man I think its obvious why the split is there if we look back.

Games 1 to 4: che, NEW, sun, MUN
Games 5 to 8: wat, EVE, sot, TOT

Of course it takes hindsight to go back and say Chelsea were an easier fixture but as it stands now it looks like 3 easy fixtures and 1 hard one. This is then followed up by 2 middling fixtures and 2 hard fixutres. I fully expect Bafe Gomis to return to "form" over his next four:

Gamews 9 to 12: STO, avl, ARS, nor

I really hope you're right. Would almost make somewhat of a differential if he returns to form.

Fair point. But would you pick Gomis if you were to choose 3 forwards now?

Pelle and Vardy would be my top choices - having said that, I already have both so now struggling to pick between two on your previous post, Lukaku and Bony.

Is the general sense that Bony is too risky?

We don't really know if he's a solid city option.
