Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 22 – Monday

Ashley Williams’ second league goal in the last four seasons hands Swansea a much-needed victory over Watford. The Hornets, meanwhile, fall to a fourth successive defeat as the goals continue to dry up for Odion Ighalo.

Williams wins it for Swans

In front of an audience that included their newly-installed head coach, Francesco Guidolin, Swansea City propelled themselves out of the relegation zone with an attritional 1-0 victory over Watford. Ashley Williams emerged as the match-winner with his first goal of the campaign, steering the Swans to just their second triumph in 12 league match-ups. The Wales international has now scooped 17 out of a maximum 18 bonus points during his side’s six clean sheets this term, cementing his status as their prime Fantasy asset at the back – encouragingly, four of those shut-outs have arrived in the six matches since Garry Monk’s departure. With Crystal Palace (five successive blanks) and West Bromwich Albion on the agenda over the next three Gameweeks (eve, wba, CRY), Williams could attract investment at the 4.8 mark.

Ki Sung-yueng delivered attacking returns for just the second time this term with the assist for William’s goal. The ex-Celtic recruit proved to be a profitable differential in the budget bracket last season – notching eight goals and one assist – but has mustered just five shots on target in 20 appearances this time around. Andre Ayew (7% ownership) remains the most popular route into Swansea’s midfield, but Gylfi Sigurdsson (two goals in three, penalty duties) has arguably edged ahead of the Ghanaian winger in that internal duel. Ayew retained a role up front last night but with Guidolin set to have the final say in team matters, it remains to be seen whether he’ll tinker with Curtis’ tactics.

Watford’s slump continues

Watford slumped to their fourth consecutive defeat last night and are now winless in five matches. The Hornets have suffered from a major drop in form of their strike duo, Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney, who’ve mustered just four shots on target between them over the last four Gameweeks. Although the former’s 40% ownership will certainly be weighing up their options in the wake of three successive blanks, Watford’s back-to-back home clashes (NEW, CHE) could serve as a catalyst for the 6.4-priced frontman, who had previously scored in six straight league outings prior to the goals drying up.

    and the Grand Playoffs now has 3 players into the Quarter Finals as Jawain, MrFlibbles and Hooky have won their last 16 bouts in two weeks. They now face a gameweek off as the other five ties go to a deciding week so the Quarter Final draw looks like this so far:

    Four Four Boyz/ Snake Juice vs Konig Luther/The Buck Stops With Me
    Jawain vs MrFlibbles
    Northfield Netters/Geriatric Unathletic vs Rodallegabomb/BertZeiner-M
    Costa Nostra/HVT vs Hooky

    and you can see the complete tournament bracket leading up this here: http://challonge.com/grandplayoffs

        Team is this, with 1.3 ITB:

        Butland, Ruddy
        Toby, Ivanovic, Moreno, Francis, Huth
        KDB, Ozil, Mahrez, Alli, Payet
        Lukaku, Kane, Igahlo

        Have had Igahlo since about GW 6

    Don’t forget that GW30 is FA Cup quarter final week, which is likely to involve many teams with a blank GW, so there are likely to be a few teams who will blank BOTH GW27 (C1C final) and GW30.

    Suddenly (someone like) Moreno will surely become an impending “must sell” should the C1C final DGW turns out not to be GW25, as it is possible between GW27 and 30 he will have 2 blanks in 4 GWs.

    However, if it is announced the C1C final DGW is GW25, if you have (someone like) Moreno, you ain’t going to be selling him with a DGW so close.

    This is why it is crucial in my opinion to hold your nerve this week and carry over a FT to next week (when we will know the identity of the C1C finalists, who will have a blank GW27, if the DGW will be GW25, and the FA Cup 5th round draw so will give us a good chance to estimate who will have a blank in GW30) as the scenarios above are so different and are going to end up in such different approaches to transfers, and to have that extra FT is going to be like gold-dust.

    Okay no more WC plan
    This will be my move

    Walcott -> Cabaye
    KDB -> Stanislas
    Ighalo -> Kun
    For -4

    Will give me
    Butland, Myhill
    Bellerin, Dann, Cresswell, Toby, Bennett
    Stanislas, Mahrez, Payet Ozil, Cabaye
    Kun, Kane, Lukaku

    And I would have enough money to do Ozil -> Sanchez for free next week

    Have got KDB, haven't got Aguero. May save the FT until next week and stick with my team. Is that madness?

    Which two to start? I know Davies is a risk of not starting but at least he won't come on for a 1 pointer

    A. Bellerin
    B. Moreno
    C. Davies

    2 FT, 1m ITB.
    A. Ighalo->Lukaku and KdB->Barkley
    B. KdB-> Barkley
    C. None of the two.

      C.

      Ighalo due in the next two GW's, although Lukaku does have a good run coming.
      once you lose ighalo he's be impossible to buy back without surgery. KDB can pop up at any time with a double pointer, but if you need Everton cover get him, Delafauuuuu is worth a look in his stead

        Yup, I still remember him running rings around Real Madrid for AC Milan, he looked like a fiercely good player at one stage.. Like Vardy-esque but better..
        Tis a shame he never capitalised on it.

        He's returned to Brazil and has found his form again. They're quite excited about him there, been for a couple of seasons. So, might be good again. After all, only thing that went wrong with him was his health. If he's fit again, there's no reason why he wouldn't be excellent.

      Depends where you are in your ML.

      Every team is pretty templated these days.

      Look at Payet if you can afford him.
