Ashley Williams’ second league goal in the last four seasons hands Swansea a much-needed victory over Watford. The Hornets, meanwhile, fall to a fourth successive defeat as the goals continue to dry up for Odion Ighalo.

Williams wins it for Swans

In front of an audience that included their newly-installed head coach, Francesco Guidolin, Swansea City propelled themselves out of the relegation zone with an attritional 1-0 victory over Watford. Ashley Williams emerged as the match-winner with his first goal of the campaign, steering the Swans to just their second triumph in 12 league match-ups. The Wales international has now scooped 17 out of a maximum 18 bonus points during his side’s six clean sheets this term, cementing his status as their prime Fantasy asset at the back – encouragingly, four of those shut-outs have arrived in the six matches since Garry Monk’s departure. With Crystal Palace (five successive blanks) and West Bromwich Albion on the agenda over the next three Gameweeks (eve, wba, CRY), Williams could attract investment at the 4.8 mark.

Ki Sung-yueng delivered attacking returns for just the second time this term with the assist for William’s goal. The ex-Celtic recruit proved to be a profitable differential in the budget bracket last season – notching eight goals and one assist – but has mustered just five shots on target in 20 appearances this time around. Andre Ayew (7% ownership) remains the most popular route into Swansea’s midfield, but Gylfi Sigurdsson (two goals in three, penalty duties) has arguably edged ahead of the Ghanaian winger in that internal duel. Ayew retained a role up front last night but with Guidolin set to have the final say in team matters, it remains to be seen whether he’ll tinker with Curtis’ tactics.

Watford’s slump continues

Watford slumped to their fourth consecutive defeat last night and are now winless in five matches. The Hornets have suffered from a major drop in form of their strike duo, Odion Ighalo and Troy Deeney, who’ve mustered just four shots on target between them over the last four Gameweeks. Although the former’s 40% ownership will certainly be weighing up their options in the wake of three successive blanks, Watford’s back-to-back home clashes (NEW, CHE) could serve as a catalyst for the 6.4-priced frontman, who had previously scored in six straight league outings prior to the goals drying up.

DDG just got a cleanie, so things could be returning for MUN.
Hennessey could be dropped now, but you can play DDG every week.
CPL are probably on the slide, so could replace him - but not a burning priority.
      Toby attacking stats are good.
Fuchs looks like a good buy - ticker looks decent over next 10 for Leicester.
Cresswell is a bit expensive for a WHM defender...

C definitely - I think perhaps B for 2nd spot. Norwich tend to score well at home so I think a CS for Liverpool is unlikely, but probably unlikely for Spurs too.

If there will be DGW in 25, why people bring Everton players ? Doesn't mean that they will blank before GW25 ??

Because Benteke is lazy with very little movement or speed.

    Schmeichel, (Butland)
    Bellerin, Dawson, Rose, (Williams, S.Taylor)
    Ozil, Mahrez, Payet, Eriksen (KDB)
    Lukaku (c) Ighalo, Kane

KDB -> Gosling and play Gosling over Eriksen
    Or
    Save the transfer??

Can someone explain what these blank gameweeks are that I've seen people mentioning?

    1. Cradders
      • 10 Years
      9 years, 11 months ago

Teams don't play because they have a cup game or a cancelled match due to weather (latter is unlikely)

Anybody making a transfer now should take the DGWs into consideration. Either it should be a DGW hopeful as long as you have not reached the 4-5 criteria (in case DGW does not happen,) or it should be a player who has a good fixture in GW27 (the week of the blank). Only 4FTs till GW27 so keep this in your minds.

The Blank week is every bit as important if not more so than the double at this stage. We will most likely have plenty of transfers between now and the double to stock up on dbl gw players

    4. Cradders
      • 10 Years

Hard to ignore fixtures but this season so far has been more about picking form over fixtures. Makes it difficult to predict 4-5 weeks in advance

Would you hold Smalling (SOT, STO), or transfer him out to Baines (SWA, NEW)?

Baines would be selected only for attacking potential and as MUN just got a cleanie, I would hold for this week at least.

    Butland (Hennessey)
    Bellerin, Toby, Sagna (Dawson, Simpson)
    Ozil, KDB, Mahrez, Payet (Alli)

Don't know much about Bournemouth. How do Gosling and Stanislas compare?

I'm looking for a cheap, nailed 5th mid with differential potential, to enable point spending elsewhere (one eye on Ighalo's waning form, another eye on Sanchez's imminent return). I've seen a smattering of Stanislas and Gosling in various teams this year, so just wondering how to compare them?

Who is going to provide the best value for their price between YYT, KDB and Silva?

I see it being Silva, followed by YYT, followed by KDB.

YYT a great pick because you aren't ever going to captain KDB or Silva over Kun.

    Smooth:
Ozil didn't play so Targett came in and got me 11, also captained Aguero and finished on 85 pointsfor this game week.
