Leicester City’s seemingly unstoppable march on the Premier League crown continues apace as they welcome Southampton to the King Power Stadium. The Foxes have lost just once since the turn of the year, while Saints aim to record their third straight victory.

Although seven teams tallied more attempts than Leicester (54) across their last four matches, Claudio Ranieri’s troops fashioned the joint-most big chances (10). In light of their middling goal haul (five), the Foxes relied upon a defence that conceded the fewest goals (two) and just one big chance per match. Throughout the course of the campaign, only five teams have conceded fewer goals at home (15) than Leicester, ensuring that Saints’ forwards are set for a testing afternoon.

Southampton have flattered to deceive on their travels this season, ranking joint-fourth-bottom for goals (13) and third-bottom for shot-conversion rate (7.2%). On a more positive note, only two teams’ defences have been breached on fewer occasions than Saints’ (14) in road matches. Moreover, Ronald Koeman’s charges rank joint-fourth – alongside Leicester – for clean sheets (12), portending an attritional affair in the East Midlands.

Looking unlikely that I win it for 1200 quid. If I can get 3rd I'll bag a nice 200-250, but dropped to 5th this week. About 40 points from me to the leader who wildcarded this week 😕 I'm on WC now

Crazy talk I know but with Leicester no longer in flowing goal scoring form and locking out 1-0s, is it time to drop Mahrez as well as Vardy!!???

It's not crazy at all. I am considering losing Mahrez for a Pool mid and also having Barkley. The dilemma is that Mahrez is actually inexpensive, and it means, if I am not keen on Lallana or Milner, spending some more money. Leicester have tightened up and do not play as open anymore, so I think the days of Mahrez hauls will continue to get more and more sparse.

How can you claim a defender is statistically better in utterly different systems?

Everton's defence receives so little support in comparison to the United set up

      1. Piggs Boson

Again - they play utterly different systems.

Jags, and Stones in particular, are constantly pulled wide and left one on one because of maundering wide players. They receive very little support and are victims of Martinez's naive attack concentrated style.

Jones is an injury ravaged defender who goes through good and bad patches. His physicality conceals a defensive game damaged by injuries and position changes. Saying that a player who has made 9 appearances this season is statistically better is laughable imo.
