Man City’s first-leg semi-final against Real Madrid ends goalless at the Etihad. The FA charge Dele Alli with violent conduct following Monday night’s altercation with Claudio Yacob, whilst Norwich’s Timm Klose steps up his recovery ahead of double Gameweek 37.

City’s progress in the balance

The home leg of Manchester City’s Champions League tie against Real Madrid ended in a 0-0 stalemate.

Manuel Pellegrini made five changes from the side that won 4-0 against Stoke on Saturday, with Nicolas Otamendi the only member of the back-four to retain his starting berth – a sign of the Chilean’s intentions to rest and rotate. Further up the field, Kevin De Bruyne and Fernandinho came in for Kelechi Iheanacho and the injured Yaya Toure and the Belgian offered his side’s main goal threat, firing two of their four attempts on goal.

City look almost certain to be without David Silva, though, after the winger was forced off with five minutes remaining in the first period. Discussing the Spaniard’s fitness, Pellegrini went on to say:

“David Silva has a hamstring injury and will not be fit in one week.”

The Scout Says: Although Silva looks poised to miss the weekend trip to St Mary’s, De Bruyne owners will be taking nothing for granted after he was benched for the second time in four league matches against the Potters. Given that the likes of Jesus Navas and Raheem Sterling could be fielded on the flanks if Pellegrini opts for a 4-4-2 at St Mary’s, it’s no real surprise that over 10,000 Fantasy managers have already sold the Belgian this week. Meanwhile, City’s third clean sheet in five outings across all competitions highlights their clean sheet potential. Having changed three of his back-four from the weekend, though, Pellegrini’s team sheet suggests that Joe Hart remains their only safe source of defensive coverage while they’re still fighting on two fronts.

Alli handed FA charge

Dele Alli has been charged by the FA for violent conduct after he appeared to punch Claudio Yacob midway through the first half of Tottenham Hotspur’s home encounter against West Bromwich Albion. The player has until 6pm this evening to respond.

The Scout Says: In the likely event that Alli is found guilty of the transgression, the PFA Young Player of the Year would incur a three-match ban and sit out Tottenham’s remaining fixtures (che, SOU, new). Considering the clear-cut nature of the offence, his substantial ownership is already on the decline, with only three players currently being transferred out in greater volume. Alli has assisted seven of Harry Kane’s 24 goals this term, so his absence slightly reduces the striker’s appeal as a captaincy candidate next time out. On the flip side, Christian Eriksen – who produced attacking returns (one goal, five assists) in all of his last five starts – could profit from a central role and is now the prime choice for those managers wishing to double up on Spurs’ offense. With Alli potentially out of the picture, the likes of Heung-Min Son and Nacer Chadli will be pushing for starts on the flanks, though with eight teams set to feature twice in the penultimate round of fixtures, a Spurs exodus could pick up pace next week if Leicester clinch the title by the end of Gameweek 36.

Stoke’s Wilson suffers setback

Marc Wilson was forced off upon his return from injury during a behind-closed-doors friendly for Stoke yesterday.

The Scout Says: Whilst Wilson looks likely to miss out again as the Potters host Sunderland this weekend, Mark Hughes will at least be able to welcome back Erik Pieters from a two-match suspension as he attempt to address a dire run that’s seen his side concede four times in each of their last trio of league outings – despite the recent return of skipper Ryan Shawcross. Stoke’s lack of resolve bodes well for weekend visitors Sunderland, then, allowing Fantasy managers to eye up the Wearsiders’ attacking assets ahead of their double Gameweek 37 (CHE & EVE). On that note, Jermain Defoe lays claims to good form (three goals in six) and impressive underlying statistics, ranking second for penalty-box touches (34) and second for shots inside the box (13) among forwards across his last four matches. Despite being stationed out wide, Fabio Borini could also emerge as a profitable differential, given that he charted joint-fifth for attempts (13) and joint-seventh for shots inside the box (nine) during that time frame.

Klose steps up recovery

Norwich centre-half Timm Klose took to Instagram yesterday to suggest he’s nearing a return to action before the end of the season.

The Scout Says: Having previously been ruled out for the rest of the campaign by Alex Neil, a possible return for Klose would be a welcome boost to the Canaries’ survival plight. Prior to limping out of the Gameweek 33 clash against Palace on 39 minutes, the Swiss international had served up a goal, two clean sheets and five bonus points in three appearances, helping his side to two wins and a draw. Whilst he seems set to miss this week’s trip to Arsenal, Klose – at 4.2 – is clearly worth monitoring ahead of a pair of home matches in double Gameweek 37 (MUN & WAT) and trip to Everton on the final day of the season that bolster the Carrow Road club’s chances of beating the drop.

Who do you think is the better option:

    a) Carroll?

    b) Defoe?

      Defoe.
Looks like only real source of goals for his team, no competition for his place and much more likely to stay fit!!

    Gameweek 36 scouting

With Alli set to be suspended, Sakho likely to remain unavailable, Mitrovic on bench duty and Liverpool’s team sheets in a spin there is a temptation to start making moves for double Gameweek 37 players now.

However, there could be profit in holding off for a week to gather more information as patience could prove a powerful weapon when tackling the forthcoming doubles.

What will you be scouting for during Gameweek 36? Are you making early doubles moves? Or are you holding fire?

Here’s some of the key pieces of scouting activity managers should be considering. I’ve included some relevant tables for Members to look at as well.

    Chelsea attack.

The underlying statistics and goals from the Bournemouth match indicate that Chelsea’s attack is improving.

    http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/matches/803503/

But is that more down to Bournemouth’s poor defence? The Spurs match could be key. Given Hazard and Fabregas’ comments about wanting to see Tottenham lose out on the title they should be up for it. If Leicester do secure the title then Chelsea could be out to heap more humilation on their London rivals. Ahead of the double it is worth scouting Hazard, to see if he really has improved, as well as Fabregas to see if his recent assists can continue. The team sheet will also be interesting to assess whether Oscar could be back in favour and whether Willian is nailed on. Also if Costa scores well v Spurs that could present a good striker option.

    Sunderland v West Ham attack

Stoke presents a cast iron opportunity for Defoe to score and for the defence to keep a clean sheet. But is Andy Carroll at West Ham a better bet? The stats indicate he is, http://members.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/my-stats-tables/view/11275/

…however Defoe’s great GWK 36 fixture could be hard to resist. Those with patience may be rewarded as we gather another Gameweek’s worth of vital information about which of these two is the best bet.

Also what of Payet? Can he return to form? And will Antonio finally play in midfield?

    Liverpool’s teamsheet

So far Firmino has started and been subbed off early. Will that be the case versus Swansea? Also in defence is Lovren really nailed on in Sakho’s absence? Or will Skrtel and Toure get the nod?

    Norwich

Could Norwich prove a good source of differentials? While few will want to draft in a Canary ahead of Arsenal at home this does offer further information as to whether the likes of Brady and Howson offer good value fifth midfield options, especially for those with a bench boost at hand.

Alli's suspension has forced my hand . I was planning on playing him and benching Mitrovic. Finding a nailed on replacement for Alli in the same price bracket is difficult . Mitrovic > Defoe/Caroll is my likely transfer and I might bring in PVA for a - 4 for Sakho

I'm still undecided on the exact moves but I think I'm look at 8 points of hits over the two weeks. Alli, Sakho and Gabriel all need to go for me and possibly Milner and Clyne too. West Ham defence will be coming in and probably Payet, beyond that I'm not sure but I like Watford's fixtures and think Brady at Norwich could be handy too.

Oh and I also want Deeney in this week.

Liverpool's match on Thursday night is the big one to scout, it might allow me to keep either Milner or Clyne to help reduce my hits needed. Otherwise I've seen all I need I think, I just need to make some decisions.

If I kept my wildcard/bench boost I would have Deeney and Brady . I am not sure if I want either for a - 4 . Deeney is behind Defoe and Carrol in the pecking order due to form for me. Stoke seem to be on holiday mode and are shipping goals for fun so I would not consider Villa to be that big of an advantage . If I decide to bring in a second striker it will probably be Lukaku or Sturridge instead of Deeney purely because they are more explosive imo .

It's a decent punt. I fancy him more for his GW36 fixture than the DGW, which doesn't look great fixture-wise - 2 away games v tight defences.

I thought (and said) at the time and I still think that the smart play was "manually building for DGW34 and therefore saving the WC for this week for BB in DGW37

      - Better TC options in 34
      - WC'ing in 33 meant having to compromise by including players with an eye on 37 - which leaves a long time for things to change

So, WC for me this week

But there are barely any good DGW options for gw37, especially in midfield and defence. I still think WC and BB for GW34 was the correct decision, it just didnt pan out as we'd hoped.

Looking at it now it would seem that you are right. Especially as no one predicted so much rotation in GW34. The idea of course was that there would be a lot more rotation in GW37.

This 100%. it involved planning for the double game week in January but paid off. Easy wildcard
Now with Spurs and Leicester almost settled, city players one eye on Madrid.
I can pick 15 players playing twice (while most teams will struggle having 5/6)

      My plan is Dann > PvA this week, which gives me 3.1m ITB and the following DGW37 squad ;

      ROBLES
      SMALLING LOVREN PVA (Bellerin Simpson)
      Sanchez MILNER LINGARD COUTINHO (Iwobe)
      Aguero Kane DEFOE

I will monitor Coutinho as Hazard is tempting. Or Payet too.

I'm very tempted to TC Hazard!!

And then I have triple Arsenal vs Villa GW38.

I've already gotten rid of Sakho for PvA but am still left with an unsettling amount of uncertainty on my bench - Coutinho, Gabby and Alli are all pretty sure to make a cameo at most (and obviously Alli is going to be suspended)

I don't know whether I will take the -4 for the pure reason that I am literally a 5 points behind in my minileague, and I can't see any transfer in which would really ameliorate my situation. There's no-one I'd want to replace Alli with for now whilst my funds are tied up elswhere.

I am considering Coutinho to Payet, but even that seems a bit silly for this week when I already have Lanzini in the WBA game.
I'll probably be TCing Payet so I will probably do this move next week, but it just doesn't seem worth it this time round.

i've got sakho and alli, and is it really worth it to take another hit this week? I already took a hit last week, so am not too keen on taking so many hits lately especially for this week, since i am quite likely to take another hit for the DGW37

I'm on wildcard, but if I wasn't would definitely try and save a transfer for next week if possible. Will only have real knowledge of whether Sturridge, Firmino, Milner et al are viable picks for the double after the Europa semis. Plus form/fitness of the likes of Carroll is fragile at best. No one looks essential this week (except maybe Deeney!) so best to wait out I reckon

Watford assets are the ones that tempt for this week with Villa, DAGW, Sunderland

      Sturridge a fainter temptation.

In the end, holding fire to have 2 FTs for 37 and playing a 4-4-2 this week (with Mitrovic 1st sub)

I think the smart move is to start Darlow ahead of DDG.

Leicester can go all out attack to try get the win. Palace are crap

Finally I managed to catch up on my ML leader's 100pts lead.

We are now leveled, exact same points.

I've got my TC remaining and him, BB. But he already burnt his WC and will only be able to field 6 DGWers (without hits) for DGW37.

Do I have a chance? My TC is my only chance, so gotta make the max of it.
On whom and when do you recommend me? Alexis this week?

Hows this WC looking for GW37:

    DDG Gomes
    Bellerin Huth PVA Creswell Moreno
    Mahrez Sanchez Payet Hazard Firmino
    Kane Sturridge Defoe

    Scary going without Aguero

Do you think Moreno is a true DGW player - or just a SGWer who's team has 2 fixtures? I suspect he may only play the once.

    De Gea, Darlow
    Bellerin, Rose, Fuchs, Sakho, Gabriel
    Sanchez, Payet, Firmino, Mahrez, Alli
    Aguero, Kane, Martial

    1FT, 0.5 itb

Am I mad to consider saving my FT this week?

There are players I need to get rid of (Alli, Sakho etc) but to be honest no great fixtures this week to capitalise on, plus risk of rotation. One more week to scout DGW prospects might be no bad thing?

Guys, here's my team for this week, having done 1 transfer:

    Darlow
    PvA Morgan Toby Bellerin
    Sanchez (C) Lanzini Townsend
    Kane Kun Lukaku

    Robles / GABBY COUTINHO ALLI

Do you think it's worth doing another to ready up for the DGW? It'll be a -4, but at the moment I have only 6 DGWers. I'm not sure if they would even play (I could do Coutinho -> Payet and bench Lanzini) but it doesn't seem worth it to me.

I'm FIVE agonising little points behind in my ML.

    So, question is:
    A) good to go for this week?
    Or
    B) tinker a little more and take the risk that a -4 and also a -4 next week (-8 in total) will pay dividends in DGW?

Thanks for the response below on my question.

That's a tough call. I personally would take the -4 and go for it. Alli may likely not play for the rest of the season and Coutinhos game time is questionable aswell. I'm normally not a fan of taking hits (only taken 12 points this season) but probably would in this scenario. That depends on how you feel about the DGW though.... wasn't particularly successful in GW24.

      Again, tough call.

        Thanks Bran!

I hate hits too, and I have basically fought back from a 80pt defecit to be near enough equal - I actually over took after the DGW34 but fell back to 2nd place with a dismal showing this gameweek (cheers Kane!)

Further issue is that Payet in would actually just be a blocking move - I want him for DGW but my ML rival already has him, so I'd be taking a -4 hit for a player I think I want to TC but there isn't an advantage competitively which absolutely sucks!

I could bring in someone for Alli, but if I factor in the Payet/Cresswell move for 37 I only have 6.9 to play with - anyone I would bring in (was thinking of a punt on Brady) would only languish on the bench anyway.

        Ugh. Very annoying.

Think I'm just going to scout it this week and see what happens.

        Thanks for your reply!

Oh that's nice dude! What kind of job? If you should want to make one transfer for a hit I would swap Coutinho to Payet. WBA concedes plenty on home turf and mainly against midfielders!

I'm procrastinating my studies by hanging around here frequently, so that's not optimal haha. This is my first season but I think I'm starting to learn how to play proffessionally. No transfers until after friday pressers is a golden rule that I have managed to follow lately 😉 I have 14 straight green arrows and have jumped into an OR of 9K. Going into GW36 with uncertainties about making or saving my free transfer. What would you recommend me to do? 🙂 My original plan was to ship Mahrez and Rashford for Lanzini and Defoe. Now I also consider players like Townsend and Carroll/Deeney....

            Darlow (DDG)
            Bellerin Reid Simpson (Walker, Sakho)
            Mahrez Özil Payet Milner Sanchez
            Aguero Sturridge (Rashford)

Erm I work in behavioural research for commercial purposes... basically a job no-one really cares about haha 🙂

I don't know if it's worth me taking the hit for Payet - I already have Lanzini and my ML rival also has Payet. I'll be bringing him in for the DGW in any case but I guess I can't see much benefit in bringing him in for the hit if my rival has him too.

Tbh I think your team is pretty sound for this week, even if Milner doesn't play you'd have Rashford coming in. I'd save your FT for the DGW so you can play a "mini wildcard" and grab players like Lanzini/Carroll/Deeney easy!

      @Individual

I think you are good to go. However monitor the pressers, and if there is any doubt over Lanzini rotation (or anyone else for that matter) pull the trigger on Coutinho > Payet. Because I doubt that anyone on your bench will play, and your getting Payet anyway (and might take a hit next week to do so in any case).

PS. I think Lukaku is a really strong pick, despite what people currently think about him. Proven goalscorer with great fixtures. Just needs a goal and we will all change our minds. Possible GW37 captain!

    Darlow
    Huth / PVA / Bellerin
    Mahrez / Payet / Sanchez / Coutinho
    Caroll / Aguero / Kane

    Robles / Alli / Gabriel / Targett

I am already on a -4 for bringing in Sahko --> PVA and Pelle --> Caroll

Should I see how much game time Coutinho gets against Villareal before pulling the trigger for a -8 or should I just leave hi min and accept 20/30 mins on the pitch from him?

    Thanks

Think you should wait and see, but I wouldn't be expecting too much game time from Coutinho.

Some on here don't like it but I did PvA in for Sakho too, good move all round imo. Pelle for Carroll is another no brainer.

I'm at 7.8k now - was up to 4k after the DGW but I had a horrific showing last week, with a -4 which utterly failed, Sakho and Gabby no shows and Kane blank both pummelling my GW score and losing the 21pt lead I created after a successful bench boost.

I think we can 99% be certain that Coutinho doesn't start this week - Klopp is clearly playing him in alternate games. As an owner who has had him for the last 4 games and only had 1 start I'm definitely ditching him this week and probably for a hit

KdB would be nice for GW38.. but not as much as Payet would be nice for GW37, so I'm pretty set on that next week.. Tripling up on West Ham attack, ye better pull through for me 😉 😉

Firmino vs Townsend is closer though, Townsend has ALL of the stats pointing towards him, but Firmino is still being touted by many on here as a TC option 😯

Should that convince me to get Townsend over Firmino? I must be missing something.. Andros has the individual stats but Newcastle as a team look woeful according to that (at Man U's level?!)

Yup, highest accuracy in the division.. Is that down to Benitez or is it an anomaly? I suppose that, coupled with Townsend's undeniably tempting stats, are enough to take the punt, especially with his fixtures. If Firmino was 100% nailed on I might think twice about it, but the rotation factor is the final straw.

Can see KdB playing longer than 0 this week in Silva's absence - Pelle said that they still are focused on getting points on the board, and I can't see the likes of Navas, Delph and Fernandinho supplying the creativity City need.

      Kun will do 60 & 90, you're right.

He is not banned, it is Liverpools choice not to play him

    Best replacement for Sakho?

    Darlow - Robles
    Sakho - Bellerin - Gabriel - Simpson - Clichy
    Milner - Firmino - Sanchez - Alli - Antonio
    Carroll - Kane - Aguero

    I'm thinking Van Aanholt?
Or a united defender but all of their upcoming opponents have something to play for.

I'd say smalling, but there's something in me saying he'll get a rest at some point over the remaining 4 games.

Tonight's Champions league game has got me thinking...is Aguero worth keeping this week?

City are playing away to Saints on Sunday, then have only 2 days rest before the 2nd leg of the semi final in Madrid. Especially after the result tonight, Pellegrini knows City are relying on Aguero's goals in the second leg. So do we really think he is going to take Aguero all the way down to Southampton on Sunday, start him, take him all the way back up, 1 day rest, fly him out to Madrid then start vs Madrid the next day? That sounds ludicrous to me!

And even if he does start, Saints are a decent outfit at the moment and City's minds will be on the Champions league game. If he had a decent fixture in DGW 37 I would understand the argument to keep, but he is playing Arsenal, just 4 days after playing in Madrid. Plus, the likes of Carroll, Defoe and Sturridge all have a great fixture this week and a DGW next week...

Id love to hear some thoughts on this as I think it has been largely missed on here

If had no other issues then this I would be tempted to take Aguero out. However, as I own Coutinho, Clichy and Alli, there are others things I have to deal with.

Think this will be the case for a lot of people.

Most here think he'll play some part and most have more pressing issues this week.

My worry about losing him is that my rivals will then have a hugew Aguero shaped differential. Not sure I can deal with that.

He's the best player in the league, I'm not giving my rivals a differential that dangerous.

GW36 and GW38 could be good returns, might even get a goal v Arsenal at home..

Clichy is now back playing after his injury, as he seems to be first choice when fit, does this mean he will likely play on the weekend?

Congestion could be the problem. His injury was in the back though, so his legs should be alright.

Whats the attraction with Chelsea DGW? Two tough away games followed by a game against the Champions! Plus they are pretty rubbish

Watford , United, Sunderland and Everton do not have great options in midfield , Liverpool are rotating heavily with the Europa League , I have Lanzini and Payet , I am reluctant to have Hoolahan or Brady as a 4th mid . Alli is suspended and I am chasing a mini league so bringing in Mahrez does not make a great deal of sense to me at this stage . Eriksen would be the pick of the single gw options but if I am taking a - 4 I would rather get a dgw option .

Sakho still not available for selection. No dates for any more news. He looked cheery in the video though.

My dilemma is do I just keep him till the end of the season and try to fix other positions. Same as having a bench fodder Defender basically.
