Scout Notes

Scout Notes – Gameweek 38 – Tuesday

Wayne Rooney serves up a goal and assist as United beat Bournemouth 3-1 in the final match of the season. A late Chris Smalling own goal proves costly, however, and denies the Red Devils a thirteenth shut-out in front of their own supporters.

Rooney in the points

Louis van Gaal named a strong starting line-up as Man United clinched fifth place in the Premier League thanks to a 3-1 home win over Bournemouth in the final fixture of 2015/16.

Wayne Rooney opened the scoring with his first effort in eight league appearances and also bagged an assist and maximum bonus points from a central midfield berth to earn a 12-point haul in the Gameweek.

Marcus Rashford’s strike took his tally to five in 11 league appearances and Ashley Young also found the net against Eddie Howe’s side. Anthony Martial and Antonio Valencia, meanwhile, provided an assist apiece to finish the season in fine form. The Frenchman racked up 26 points in his final three league appearances, whilst Valencia – who started the final six matches under Van Gaal – registered an impressive 40 points from a right-back berth over that period.

Smalling error scuppers another shut-out

Whilst the United attackers brought home the points, it was a disappointing evening for those holding United defensive regulars David de Gea and Chris Smalling. De Gea’s chances of earning an 18th clean sheet of the season and sharing the Golden Glove award with Petr Cech were denied after Smalling converted a Max Gradel attempt into his own net in stoppage time.

Adding salt to the wound for the Red Devils defence, Bournemouth failed to register a single attempt on target over the 90 minutes. De Gea was left with two points to take home, then, whilst Smalling’s gaffe saw him produce zero points last night.

Nonetheless, the result still means that Van Gaal’s outfit were joint-first for both clean sheets (18, along with Arsenal) and goals against (35, along with Spurs) highlighting the resilience of their defence at Old Trafford. Despite last night’s disappointment, a tally of 12 shut-outs and nine goals against in front of their own fans was superior to any side across the 2015/16 season.

Any FPL addons which enable you to chart the season long league positions of everyone in your minileague?

I usually do a "season review" for everyone in the one I run and it would be interesting if such an addon existed

I usually keep a manual note of the MOTM and major points of the season in my mini league for a season review.. Yes such a tool would be great!

Yea I should probably just keep notes. Doing this all manually will be a complete bit*h. I suppose I could do it monthly to save a bit of time.

I've seen this a couple of years ago but haven't been able to find it since. I've looked into making one myself but don't see a good way of getting out the info from leagues.

Just typing this I have just thought of a way it could be done though so may spend some time this week making a at least a chart of positions through the gameweeks for a league.

Although it'd be something like top 20 players per league only, a league of 100+ would take too long to process on demand.

Well thats a bit more like it! Thanks!

Would be good if it showed positions within the league as well as overall points. But certainly enough information to make collating it easier

        Top work!

Repost as it was buried in yesterday's comments, maybe it could help some people here :

I've seen a lot of talk about France's predicted lineup, so I thought I'd share with you what the prominent French football journalists are predicting as a lineup : http://imgur.com/nSHCwOS (this is an extract from L'Equipe).

Contrary to what most people on here seem to think, at least from what I've read, Giroud is expected to start as the most advanced forward in a 4-3-3, with Griezmann and Martial on either side.

As for Payet, even though he's had an exceptional season, he still hasn't made it to the first 11, at least not yet.

The team would then look like this :
    Lloris
    Sagna Varane Koscienly Evra
    Pogba Diarra Matuidi
    Griezmann Giroud Martial

Obviously this could all change after the friendlies.

Here the talk is more about Ben Arfa not getting called up after the amazing season he's just had with Nice.

But I agree, Lacazette should have been called up. I think he just missed the train because he was not in form when all the other strikers were killing it earlier in the season

I love Ben Arfa but like I said below, doesn't stand as much of a chance in a 4-3-3, and Payet is better than him. I think Lacazette is better than Giroud and Gignac, but maybe Deschamps wants someone to hold the ball up.

It does sound pretty mental when you think Sissoko got called up over Ben Arfa though.

You can't really compare Payet and Ben Arfa though.
For starters they play on different sides. Then, Payet is much more of a team player than Ben Arfa, more of a creator if you prefer. Ben Arfa on the other end is a solo artist. Someone who can bring something completely different and that the squad doesn't currently have. He can make differences that not a lot of players can make.
As for Sissoko, again, it's a different type of player than Ben Arfa. He's always played very well for France, is very versatile, and we can be sure he won't cause any problems in the team and ask to be a starter. I guess that's what Deschamps thought about when he selected him

Figured out with anewpla that if I didn't take hits, I'd be in the top 10K. Gonna have a think on that over the summer.

Just missed a charge for a top 4 - Champions League - spot in the draft league I run because Big Sam benched PVA and Defoe in the last match of the season.

Ah yeah... and I"m stuck with this grav for a bit over the summer over a wager with Lateriser12 that I'd wear my Giroud grav if he scored in 38 despite my thought that he wasn't worth getting...

S'alright though, Giroud captaincy helped Lateriser12 finished 77th in the world and #1 in India (nicked Saniul in the final week)

Rough with the Smooth - End of Season Special

How did the season end for you? What were your smoothest victories in mini leagues and rank aspirations? What were your roughest end of season moments (I'm expecting a fair few Smalling owners to make themselves known here)?

Also don't just focus on FPL, if like our Scout Picks community champion 2015/16 Red Devil you won a cash prize let us know? Also keen to hear how you did in other games.

      Smooth

Finished in the top 10K for the sixth season in a row after being at the 400K mark around Christmas. My final rank of 5162 was my highest of the season. Timing!

Won my two cash mini leagues, including one where I was 150 pts behind the leader at Christmas.

Finished just outside the top 500 in Sky and top of the Sky FFSCOUT Mods and contribs league

Finished just outside the top 1000 in my first ESPN season. This is a game I particularly liked and will go back to again.

      Rough

I failed to gain my fifth top 5K finish in a row by one point. Chris Smalling is to blame naturally.

UFPL - failed to win any cash prizes after switching to the monthly focus. Next year one of those £1,000 prizes will be mine.

I think it shows big hits can be fruitful in double game weeks as the leader only had 4 double players opposed to my 10.

Smooth: got 8 places better OR than last year. 😀

Rough: lost one of my leagues by 6 points --> I was second. But on the other hand, won 3rd by 7 points. Small margins.

Rough: My chances of making the top 1k were derailed by a poor GW33 Wildcard which included Lukaku, Lennon, Coutinho, Gabriel and Mitrovic. I was one point off the top 1k after the DGW but started slipping away slowly but surely and it was too much to recover. I was on the verge of beating my previous best OR rank of 1549th (2012/13) but Mike Smalling came along and ruined that. He very nearly cost me €130 in a cash ML too.

Smooth: I finished 1613th which was great considering I was 1,982,663rd after GW4. I won four cash mini-leagues which came up to about €330. My opponent drew his final game in my H2H ML and I won the league by two points as a result.

Overall I can't complain, though I really badly want to finish into top 1k after coming so close in the past.

Very Rough. Finished 39k OR after getting #38 last year, and finally lost both of my main MLs that I won for 4 straight years before this one.

Have only myself to blame, Lukaku (c), Carroll (c), no Toby, Mahrez bench and many more bad calls. Hope I get back to where I belong next year.

      Rough- Carroll TC, 2x 16 point hits & 2x 12 point hits.

Removing Kane, alli and Toby on wildcard for that infamous Stoke away game in gwk 34.

      Smooth- winning my cash ML.
Rising from rank 2.5 mil in gwk 3 to finish at 11,321.

Smooth - Winning the FIFFSA World Cup with Zambia & the Golden Boot! And finishing with 3rd consecutive top 5K OR.

Rough - Losing my main ML H2H in the final game, Dropped from 297OR last year to 3.9kOR, and never owning Alli this season.

Highest ever OR of 949 - guaranteed by Smalling depriving those holding Man Utd defensive assets of a clean sheet, and bringing in Mane instead of Tadic.

Won my main ML for 5 yr or 6th yr in a row. Country winner for Zambia, and captain of the victorious Team Zambia in the FIFFSA competition organised by the excellent Balders et al. All this despite my VCs outscoring my Cs during the season! Relied on plenty of luck and insight from the FFS community - not necessarily in that order.... thanks to all.

      Average season all in all.

Smooth - Ended with 69k OR having been around 700k OR only 10 weeks ago. Was 110 points behind ML rival before GW29 and ended up winning by around 60 points to claim a cash prize of £200, TC Sanchez in GW34 was a big success. 13/15 Green arrows in the final 15 weeks was rather pleasant.

Rough - Poor decisions between GW9-GW15 saw my rank drop from 80k OR to 1.3M OR, took too many risks and never owned Ighalo, often made the wrong captain choice when there wasnt an obvious choice but learn my lessons for next year.

That Smalling goal cost me the title in our H2H minileague. I needed 7 pts from Smalling + DDG.

And by cost I mean losing out on the price of £200 as winner takes it all.

Pretty damn insane that the last touch of PL 2016 decided it all.

      Rough:
Played Bench Booster: Defoe, PvA, Rose didn't start.
Took -8 to do Sturridge + Payet + Carroll --> Aguero + KDB + Long
      Smalling scored an Own Goal.

      7 years, 11 months ago

4 red arrows on the bounce to finish, but my yuuuuge green in gw34 placates my disappointing end.

Smoothest moment was still gw8 with Sanchez, KdB, Pelle and Aguero (c) putting up nearly 100 points between them, roughs include Lukaku TC, buying Sturridge in November only for him to get injured again within half an hour and definitely that Smalling OG!

Thanks a lot for the mention Jonty!

Rough- FPLwise a poor end to a good season, started at 13k, ended at 15; thanks to Sanchez(C) fail & Smalling CS fail, so, missed out on 10k

Smooth- Starting with FPL- won my MLs, finished at 15k, one H2H win too, & oddly smalling being a rough FPLwise became a smooth in the scouts pick community champions, as GW 38 champion had double united in defence, & would've ran me close in the overalls
a nice cash prize in my first proper season at FFScout, really Pleased with the season, specially with my birthday couple of days away!

Smooth. Got Payet and Sturridge out for hits on Saturday. Got in Mane and Giroud and slapped the armband on the latter to really milk his hat trick. These 2 moves got me 47 points to set me up nicely.

      Captain rough:
I might hold inglorious record of capitancy fails, 11 in the row, in GWs 15-25 I've never got more than 6 pts from my captain picks. I gave it to obvious guys, I gave it to punts and all failed. I dropped from 1st in my cash ML to 4th-5th, never really recover from this.

More rough just for GW 38: sold Wijnaldum after holding him since GW28, got one clean sheet and exactly 0 goals and assists for my whole squad 🙁

14-15 I did pretty well but finished runner up in my cash mini league on the last day (to the Walcott hat-trick grrr) and also lost the cup final in GW38.

15-16 I had the worst season I have had in my long FPL career and yet won the cup. So my cash winnings were higher this season than the previous.

      Smooth. (Dugout ffs division 5).
Were 2 points behind nr1 and we met the last day.
With only the Utd-Bou to go I had the lead 59-47.
I had none left, he had Tony V and Mata.
After Smalling demolished the Tony's CS with the last kick of the game I clinched the win 59-57 and thus winning the division with 1 point.

      Rough. Most of fpl season.
Were doing terrible so in gw26 (OR 750k), against advice on here I used my WC and thought now I'm just gonna have fun.
Thus having to navigate the dgw's with hits, lots of hits.
Since WC in gw26 64 points paid with hits, of which 56 points came between gw33-37.
Still managed 11 green and just 2 red since WC.
That Smalling goal shot the gw26 dream of at least making it into top 100k.

Proud to have spotted Mahrez though, had him and only him the whole season. Never captained him though but I think I only benched him 4 times, one of which became a double digit haul.
Also had him the whole season in dugout.
I also have a private local game that's been done since the late 80's, in which I also had him all season.

Rough - Being ranked 93rd during the season and letting it slip. Especially a poor final few weeks to miss the top 1k.

I am satisfied with my season, it was my best season ever. I finished in the TOP 10K, even after GW2 I was ranked over 2,500,000 😮 My worst moment in the season was GW15, I benched Mahrez and Huth, sold Wijnaldum for a hit and that all cost me 51 points 🙁 It was a very expensive error, but I'm proud I bounced back from that.

Rough; Smalling OG costing me 6 points...

Smooth; Having done Milner>Tadic, on hearing the Payet news I took an emergency hit to do Payet>Mane. The net 9 points gained here won me my mini-league by 9 points! Would have tied otherwise as we both had Smalling losing his points too... 🙂

Overall rank my worst ever at 280k. Dropped in Sky too from 650th and 352nd in last two seasons down to 4k.

Smooth: took a -4 to bring in Giroud & Mane for Firmino & Kane for GW38, netted me 25 odd points. Smallings OG also vaulted me up one place in my cash mini league, which was sweet. Raked in €1000 odd across my two cash mini leagues for the season. Finished season in top 15k, highest rank of the season.

Rough: Played it safe and gave Sanchez the armband over Giroud for GW38 to protect my lead in one of my cash mini leagues. Won the other league but cost me 2nd in the other one.

Was similar to most in that I had a bad first half of the season. Had 8 successive green arrows until the GW33 WC where I undid all my good work. Ended up with a worse rank at GW38 then 33 which should not have happened, considering I also had all three chips.

Particularly rough: Was leading my main ML pre-Smalling OG, lost in by 2 points after the goal.

Rough: 114k rank after I'd finished 512OR last season. Finished behind my (very smug) colleague at work......It's going to be a long summer.

Took over 200 hit points and finished in 71,346 - the season was dreadful from the start even though I had Mahrez since GW1. To make things worse I got kicked out of a ML I was in because according to them using this site is unfair and cheating, I was third in that league throughout the whole season and then in the last 3 GW's I managed to get 1st and in the last GW I got kicked. To be honest that Manchester United game was funny even as a De Gea and Smalling owner, the way the goal went in made me chuckle.

      Smoothest of them all. 😎

      GW Points : 108 (-4)
      GW Rank : 44

Jumped from OR of 82,517 to 23,377 in the final day.

This all possible with help of smoothest guy in EPL history - Olivier Giroud. Triple captain him on the last day and it worked out well.

Went for Sadio Mane instead of Dusan Tadic.

Both of them coming for a -4 hit (Dimitri Payet + Jermain Defoe for Sadio Mane + Olivier Giroud). Oh, boy, didn't it paid off brilliantly. Other than that was Cesc Fabregas and Antonio Valencia who helped me boosting my rank.

Overall, successfully completed 2 out of 3 of my season's aim.
      Success :
      1. Won my ML 3 times in the row (No cash prize just for bragging rights).
      2. Beat my personal best OR 42,561 (I know, I know)

      Failure :
      1. Beat my personal best total points 2,336.

      Other game - Fantrax.
One of the best draft league out there, managed to become champions and end the season with respectable points of 1919 with my team contains of De Gea, Forster; Cresswell, Clichy, Sagna, Valencia, Toure; Hazard, Antonio, Ayew, Lennon, Iwobi; Aguero, Rondon, Benteke.

Also, *shameless plug* we are looking for another manager to join us for next season, currently all of the participant are poster from this site - Torres Love (owner), champynwa (last season champion), BillyGilmore, Mr Blonde, 32chickens, Gloria Kanchelskis, PunditofPunts, Fuweidavid, Zasa, Blue Lion and Balders.

Despite getting my second highest overall rank (just inside top 1.5k), the end of the season was definitely rough for me.

My main mini-league is my work one and I went into GW37 1 point behind the top spot. I went risky, took a 12 point hit which involved getting Carroll and Cresswell and benching Sanchez. I slapped the TC on Carroll while my rival went for Payet. By the end of GW37 I was 41 points behind.

With all hope lost I punted on Mane captain in GW38 and brought in Giroud for Sturridge. A 74 point score put me 3 points ahead after autosubs, but my rival still had Martial to play...I spent the next two days absolutely bricking it and thanks to that assist ended up losing by 2 points to the same bloke who beat me by 3 points last year...if only Carroll hadn't got that yellow against Utd :(. But I guess it's very slight progress - give it another 3 seasons and I should win by a point!

Smooth, but having DDG and Smalling croak in the last 45 seconds cost me the 12 points that probably would have enabled me to finish just inside the top 1000.

Then again I didn't pay attention as to how to play the WC and bench boost in consecutive weeks and thought I could play them together in DGW 34... pretty silly of me. Also, I left a lot of points on the bench during the season, around 275... leaving Mahrez, Vardy and Hoolahan when they scored in excess of those 12 points each,..... well that left a mark. All in all was happy after a rough start to the season.

Wildcard in GW 33 66 pts GW 34 Bench Boost 156 pts
      GW 35 26 pts GW 36 33 pts GW 37 Triple Captain 117 pts
GW 38 34 pts. Poor GW 35,36,38, due to mass rotation along with poor captain choices cost me in the end. Final Rank 22,315
Season before is still my best 15,018.

Not quite the same thing, considering France will surely play 4-3-3. Plus France had considerable depth in midfield, whereas England have none.

Ended up just with OR just within 30k but 3rd in my cash mini league, no thanks to Smalling OG.

Was an exciting FPL season, with the chips, surprise team's performances and team rotation making it unpredictable.

Personal highlight was using the WC in GW34 for 161 points.. Worst regret was the TC on Andy Carroll for a 9 pointer; couldn't recover against my rivals after that!

Many thanks to Mark and the team, article contributors and forum members for making this the best FPL website!

Not playing this year personally do not checked over the rules, what I would say is though make sure you have a decent captain option for each day so you can change your captain if your not happy with his score

He's a decent player and a good option for that price, I just personally find it hard to resist having three top strikers. Also, pretty sure there are no manual subs this year.

                Choosing Your Starting XI
"From your 15-player squad, select 11 players before the Matchday deadline.
All your points for the Matchday will be scored by these 11 players; if one or more doesn't play then they may be automatically substituted with the players on the bench.

Your team can play in any formation providing that one goalkeeper, at least two midfielders, at least three defenders and at least one forward are selected at all times."

                    SUBSTITUTIONS

Although we can construct our benches to utilise the autosubs option, the official UEFA offering favours a hands-on approach and allows Fantasy managers to make changes to our line-ups between Gamedays in any given Matchday.

If one of your starters doesn’t perform or isn’t selected, then, you can swap them out and bring in a replacement off the bench later in the Matchday. It’s also worth bearing in mind that we’re likely to get an idea on the lineups from the early kick-offs each day, affording Fantasy managers the chance to hold fire until the teams are announced before subbing out any under-achievers.

                NB(!!!):

Prioritising Your Bench for Automatic Substitutions:

"Your substitutes provide cover for unforeseen events like injuries and postponements by automatically replacing starting players who don't play in a Matchday.

Based on the priorities you assign automatic substitutions are processed at the end of the Matchday as follows:

If your goalkeeper plays 0 minutes, he will be substituted by your replacement goalkeeper provided he played in the matchday.
If any of your outfield players play 0 minutes, they will be substituted by the highest priority outfield substitute who did play and doesn't break the formation rules (e.g. If your starting team has three defenders, a defender can only be replaced by another defender)."

    Az's £5 Buy-In Cash League Final Update:

Big thank you to everyone that joined my cash league at the start of the season, it's been a really interesting league (I was hovering in 4th-5th for a lot of the season but fell away during the end!). As you would expect with all FFS leagues, the competition was fierce, with Lee Byron a.k.a. 'GoonerByron' the overall winner with an outstanding overall rank of 74.

In a nail biting last day, James Carser, a.k.a. 'Jac the Cat' lost the first place he had been clinging on to for most of the season. He will be frustrated to lose out with an incredible OR of 98.

In third place, some way off first and second place, was Colin B, a.k.a. 'Babyb', who finished with a very respectable OR of 2,729.

Could the winners please email me at fantasyfootballaz7@gmail.com and I will sort out prize money. To remind you, it's 30% of the pot for 1st (GoonerByron), 20% of the pot for 2nd (Jac the Cat) and 10% of the pot for 3rd (Babyb)

Thanks all! Hope you all join again next year 🙂

    18K finish this time round.
    Last season 30K

Highest ever finish was 3529 a few years ago.
    And in 2012/3, I finished 4603.

(my problem is that I always start terribly)

Had my best season thanks to FFS -- a respectable 2,244 points and bragging rights at the office after a successful ML campaign. Massive thanks also to Lukaku for being rubbish when I needed him to be, cementing my long-held belief that owning Lukaku is never a good idea. Even though it was this season. For ages.

The Enigma that is Lukaku, buggered if you have him buggered if you don't (mostly). When you do he's terrible when you don't he's magnificent lol. Congrats on the ML success and score 🙂

Where's his stats, damn how do you look at stats with no transfers available?. Was wondering if he's a slow burn type player that takes a while to get into his stride every season.

He is another "2, 1, 0, 18, 1" type player. Goes quiet then explodes. Very frustrating.

Yeah I think it's OK to have at least one of those type of mids who's fairly quiet then is suddenly explosive, a Mane or an Erik. Can't have to many though, got to have a little bit of the dullard mentality to keep things ticking over.

Talking of which, be interesting to see how Ozil does too if he'll be as consistent. He seems to suffer with burn out and he's one of those type of players that is so frustrating to own when not performing just because of his languid style.

    Fantasy football rules
    Selecting Your Initial Squad

    Squad Size
To join the game, select a squad of 15 players consisting of:

    2 Goalkeepers
    5 Defenders
    5 Midfielders
    3 Forwards
    Budget
The total value of your initial squad must not exceed €100 million.

    Players per team
You can select up to three players from a single team during the group phase. This will increase to four players for the round of 16, followed by five players for the quarter-finals, six for the semi-finals and eight for the final.

    Managing Your Team

    Choosing Your Starting XI
From your 15-player squad, select 11 players before the Matchday deadline.
All your points for the Matchday will be scored by these 11 players; if one or more doesn't play then they may be automatically substituted with the players on the bench.

Your team can play in any formation providing that one goalkeeper, at least two midfielders, at least three defenders and at least one forward are selected at all times.

    Selecting a Captain
From your starting XI you can select a player as a captain whose score will be doubled at the end of each matchday. If your captain does not play a minute then no player's score will be doubled.

Prioritising Your Bench for Automatic Substitutions
Your substitutes provide cover for unforeseen events like injuries and postponements by automatically replacing starting players who don't play in a Matchday.

If your starting team has three defenders, a defender can only be replaced by another defender).
    Making Transfers
After selecting your squad, you can buy and sell players in the transfer market. Unlimited transfers can be made at no cost until your first deadline and between group and knockout stages.

Only one transfer can be carried forward to the next matchday. No free transfers can be carried forward once the knockout phase begins.

    Number of free transfers
    Group stage: one per matchday
    Round of 16: unlimited
    Quarter-finals: 4
    Semi-finals: 6
    Final: 6

You are deducted four points for every transfer you make above the available free transfers for a matchday.

    Player Prices
Player prices will change after the group stage depending on performance during the tournament.

    Wildcard
The wildcard can be used to potentially make transfers free of charge.
It can be used only once throughout the tournament. The wildcard is played when confirming transfers that deduct points and can't be cancelled once played.

    Deadlines
All transfers must be made by the matchday deadline in order to take effect for that set of matches.

Deadlines are subject to change and will be at the time of kick-off of the first match of the matchday.

    Gameweek Deadline
    Matchday 1 10 June 21.00
    Matchday 2 15 June 15.00
    Matchday 3 19 June 21.00
    Matchday 4 25 June 15.00
    Matchday 5 30 June 21.00
    Matchday 6 06 July 21.00
    Matchday 7 10 July 21.00

    Scoring
During the tournament, your players will be allocated points based on their performance.

    Action Points
    Playing in a game 1
Playing at least 60 minutes in a game (includes points mentioned above) 2
Goal scored by a goalkeeper or defender 6
Goal scored by a midfielder 5
Goal scored by a forward 4
    For each assist 3
Goalkeeper not conceding while on pitch (must play at least 60 minutes) 4
Defender not conceding while on pitch (must play at least 60 minutes) 4
Midfielder not conceding while on pitch (must play at least 60 minutes) 1
    Earning a penalty 2
    Conceding a penalty -1
    Penalty miss -2
    Penalty save 5
For every two goals conceded by a goalkeeper or defender -1
    Yellow card -1
Red card (includes yellow card deduction) -3
Every three saves made by a goalkeeper 1
    Own goal scored -2

    Clean sheets
A clean sheet is awarded for not conceding a goal whilst on the pitch and playing at least 60 minutes.

If a player has been substituted when a goal is conceded this will not affect any clean sheet bonus.

    Red Cards
If a player receives a red card, they will continue to be penalised for goals conceded by their team.

Red card deductions include any points deducted for yellow cards.

    Assists
A player will be credited with a goal assist when he delivers/plays the final pass, cross, header or shot which leads to the goal being scored. This will also apply to set plays (i.e. corner, free kick, throw-in etc).

In addition, an attempt which rebounds from the goal frame, the goalkeeper or a defender can be considered as an assist, if it leads directly to a goal.
When a pass, shot or cross by an attacker contributes to an own goal, an assist can be awarded to the attacker.

Only one player can be credited with an assist per goal scored.
No assist is awarded to a player winning a penalty or a free-kick.
No assist is given to a player who creates his own goalscoring opportunity (e.g. solo run/dribble).
    Other
    • Extra-time events count but penalty shoot-outs do not.

    Leagues
After entering your squad, each player is automatically entered in a number of leagues. These are:

The overall league involving all registered players
A league for fellow players from your country
    League Types

    Private Leagues
Private leagues are the heart and soul of the game, where you compete against your friends. Join a League / Create a league and then send out the unique code to allow your friends to join, easy!

There's no limit on the number of teams in a single league and the private league a user can be a part of.

    Public Leagues
You are automatically entered into the following public leagues:

The overall league involving all registered players (Global league)
A league for fellow players from your country (Country league)

"The substitution period will be available between gamedays where you can replace a starting XI player with a bench player."

Yep, the how to play seems to be a copy-paste job from Champions League fantasy, so I'm backing the "rules" to be right in terms of gameplay, but it does seem dicey.

If you were the England manager, what starting Line-Up would you go for?

    Here's mine;

    _______________Dier_____________

Switch Rooney with Alli and I like it. Just rotate the full backs because they'll be doing a whole lot.

Seriously though, cleanest solution I've seen given our wingers are crap. Solves every problem.

      1. Ten Season Wonder
        • 10 Years

        That's my thoughts totally.

We need to rely on our full backs for pace. Because there's not much of it (apart from Vardy).

So, yes, Rooney & Alli switch and I think we have a genuine chance

      2. Irish Madridista ⭐

Dier drops back, full backs become wingers.

Milner / Wilshere / Henderson offering extra protection and simple passes ("Drinkwater role").

One of Rooney / Alli / Lallana in the more creative CM ("Modric role"), with another of those three in the advanced CAM ("Ozil role").

Vardy/Sturridge + Kane up front, shorted.

      Hart

Milner in for Wilshere. Same apart from that.

Mine was very similar. Rooney and Alli switching positions and Stones (God help us, but we have to bring on talented new young players) instead of Cahill.

Yeah definitely an Alli Rooney swap there. Looking at that team I'd expect goals and for them to do pretty well but we know what will happen don't we 😀

Think I would shockingly choose Rooney over Henderson for that deeper role too, on the basis of his range of passing.

Let's face it, Rooney is the captain, and he is going to probably play (and start) all games.

Whether it be up front or midfield, who knows.

I just hope Roy don't bottle it and go ultra defensive because i feel with this team, we can really do bits out in France 🙂

I think that's the Rooney illusion. I see him as a deep-lying playmaker. During the attacking phase the midfield is:

          Walker(WB) Alli(AP) Dier(DM) Rooney(DLP) Rose(WB)

          Enough bodies in there.

Rooney is deep-lying playmaker, not a striker. Sturridge and Vardy have been known to play wide.

I think he should start but he probably won't.

The 50/50 in my team is Alli vs Drinkwater. Drinkwater in CM and Milner wide left would be more solid.

The Spurs attacking fullbacks are important, Hodgson hasn't picked many wide midfielders really, only Townsend and Lallana.

Indeed, Walker and Rose are the best options in my opinion. Still hurts seeing Smalling - I'll never pick him again.

I'm a Spurs fan and I would pick Clyne ahead of Walker.

Not correct, just my opinion Annie.

Rose on the other hand... 😉

Walker is a HUGE part of how England are going to do offensively imo. He'll either be linking up with Townsend / Sterling or overlapping Rooney / Milner.

Rose v Bertrand I'm not as sure about, Rose better offensively but is that leaving a weak spot for other teams to target?

Drinkwater should be very, very close to the first XI, he's underrated and would recycle possession well as part of that double holding midfield.

I'd probably play Alli though.. and Milner offers so much solidity that he's tough to drop.

I don't envy Roy anyway, tough group to arrange "perfectly"
