The Weekend Team News

Romelu Lukaku is set to return to full training ahead of Everton’s clash with Bournemouth. Olivier Giroud remains doubtful as Arsenal host Chelsea, whilst Daniel Sturridge is a slight concern for Liverpool’s Anfield encounter with Hull.

Here’s the team news so far…

Olivier Giroud faces a late test on his ongoing toe complaint ahead of Arsenal’s clash with Chelsea. Arsene Wenger has also conceded that Aaron Ramsey looks set to remain sidelined until after the international break.

Adam Lallana and Georginio Wijnaldum are available for Liverpool’s home match with Hull after both were left out of the midweek trip to Derby as precautionary measures. Jurgen Klopp revealed Daniel Sturridge “should” be available after missing three days’ training, whilst Joe Gomez has stepped up his recovery from injury but is not yet fit for selection.

Xherdan Shaqiri has stepped up his recovery by returning to training ahead of Stoke’s clash with West Brom. Mark Hughes confirmed the Swiss international will be assessed after being sidelined since Gameweek 1. Jon Walters is a doubt for tomorrow after missing the midweek cup loss to Hull due to an ankle problem.

Middlesbrough pair Christhian Stuani and Jordan Rhodes have both recovered from minor injuries and are available to face Spurs at the Riverside.

Kasper Schmeichel has recovered from concussion but remains a minor doubt for Leicester’s trip to United with a muscle problem. Nampalys Mendy and Matty James are still sidelined and Marcin Wasilewski is suspended after being dismissed in the midweek cup loss to Chelsea.

Winston Reid has been passed fit by the West Ham medics ahead of Sunday’s encounter with Southampton.

Scott Dann has been ruled out of Palace’s clash with Sunderland, with Alan Pardew revealing he could also miss the Gameweek 7 encounter against Everton. James Tomkins is available, though, after recovering from the knee problem that forced him off against Stoke on Sunday.

Ronald Koeman expects Romelu Lukaku to return to full training today ahead of Everton’s clash with Bournemouth. The Belgian has stepped up his recovery from the toe injury that forced him off in the home win over ‘Boro. James McCarthy and Darron Gibson should return in around three weeks.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

Arsenal are winless in the last eight games Michael Oliver has overseen, while Chelsea are unbeaten in the 13 games where he's had the whistle.

    Hmm

Who did Arsenal play in those fixtures? I find it hard to believe his refereeing really affects their results

So selling Masuaku for Lovren seems to be a good idea for some. Would you do it for a -4, knowing I already took a -4 to get Aguero in this week. Pieters is the defender that comes in (might not start), Amat the other one (basically 0 points against City).

You will likely gain at least 2 points if Lovren keeps a CS, which is very likely imo

Your fifth mid isn't great, but his fixture is.
I'd avoid the hit & go AOA. People lost points using this chip last year.

In a similar position. I'm forced to play my AOA chip since I've Souare and Janmaat too along with Masuaku. And Amat would be my 2nd defender. I'm tempted to take a hit.

Strong bar keepers. Which are risky with nowhere to go. Going Kevin and Sanchez is massive but that's the pay off. Lacks a big defender.

    Foster / Jaku
    Baines / Lovren / Smith / Amat / Love
    KDB / Firmino / Antonio / Snodgrass / Capoue
    Aguero / Lukaka / Costa

did you have Jaku and Pickford before? I can't decide myself:

      (A) Jaku - Pickford
      Williams - Vertonghen - Lovren - Holebas - Amat
      or
      (B) Jaku - Foster
      Williams - Stones/Lovren - Holebas - Amat - Smith

      what do you think?

Jaku / Pickford isn't great when you look at it. You're forced to play one each week. Pickford has had 3 games and he's picked up a couple of save points. A mistake and he could lose his spot. Means Jaku is probably the first choice keeper each week. In the end, I think the guys around here are right - that's not a good spot to be in. B is the better choice I think.

Capoue: 7 goal attempts in total, 4 goals. Unsustainable. There you go.

Those were the worrisome stats I was talking about...

Presumably, though, you already had Capoue at 4.5? But even at 4.7... he's still the best 5th choice mid there is.

I have both. The question is who I am playing this weekend.

Thinking of playing AOA this GW to get all 5 of my MFs in:

    Pickford/Heaton – undecided
    JEvans, Williams
    Antonio, Sterling, Bolasie, Capoue, Firmino
    Aguero, Ibra, Lukaku

    GK, Shaw, Byram, Pieters

    What do you reckon?

Well as Shaw is a doubt and the other two play in the worst defences in the league I'd go for it
