City Enjoy Potential Double Gameweek 27

Manchester City have this afternoon announced news that potentially sets up a double Gameweek 27.

The Premier League fixture bulletin published by City confirms that, should City progress past Huddersfield in their FA Cup replay, their fixture with Stoke City will shift back from March 11, to March 8.

This would move it from Gameweek 28 to within Gameweek 27. Pep Guardiola’s men would, therefore, face a trip to Sunderland, paired with that home tie with the Potters – a hugely appealing double header.

Mark Hughes’ side, meanwhile, would host Middlesbrough prior to visiting the Etihad.

The news completely transforms the current landscape of fixtures and impacts our short-term strategies.

City will face Huddersfield in their replay next Wednesday and, should they progress to the last eight of the FA Cup as expected, the double Gameweek 27 will be confirmed.

This will immediately promote their assets – particularly in attack – and likely re-align our plans ahead of Gameweek 28.

Certainly, City’s display in last night’s Champions League win over Monaco serves as a handy showcase for the form of their attacking talents.

With Gabriel Jesus now stuck in the treatment room for two-to-three months, Sergio Aguero retuned to form with a bang and his two goals and assist against the French outfit will have many now forging plans for his acquisition.

Should City progress, the allure of handing Aguero the armband in a double Gameweek will prove irresistible for many.

The performances of Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane on either side of the Argentine last night won’t have gone unnoticed either.

Both bagged a goal and assist against the Ligue 1 club and, with form very much on their side, offer more budget-friendly options at £7.8m and £7.5m respectively in FPL for those who may baulk at Aguero’s £12.7m price tag.

Serving up a goal or assist in eight of his last ten league outings, Sterling has proven to be one of the most consistent midfield picks in recent months, while Sane’s two goals and a pair of assists in five underlines the German’s improved showings on the flank.

With Kevin De Bruyne, David Silva and spot-kick taker Yaya Toure also vying for our attention, there’s plenty for us to consider if City can clinch that spot in the last eight next midweek.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

So City will play on the 5th, 8th and 11th of March?

That's crazy, wholesale rotation, right? Even if it wasn't Pep.

Exactly. Heck of a gamble. Particularly for the least reliable manager in the league!

Is Lukaku to Aguero in GW27 and then Reversing it back for GW28 a good idea assuming City have a DGW in 27

Will you have many players in 28? That's 2 lots of transfers 'wasted' if you have plenty players missing. Then you have to weigh up the amount of points you miss by not filling in the blanks.

Had a play around with transfers to see what I can afford and means I also can maximise GW28 players too.

So 3 transfers to do for GW27 (-4)
Stanislas, Philips & Ibra > Sterling, Morrison & Aguero

    So that works quite well
Stanislas > Morrison this week then the 2 city players next week for -4.

Is worth getting Lallana over Mane if let's me get both Aguero & Sterling for Lukaku & Phillips next week?

    Appreciate your thoughts!

Thoughts on Sánchez and Defoe to Coutinho and Lukaku now, then Kane to Agüero the next GW (if City gets a DGW in GW27)?

I was suppose to do Sánchez and Defoe to Mané and Lukaku.

My team looks like this at the moment:

    Heaton - Jakupovic
Alonso - Valencia - Brunt - Funes Mori - Yoshida
    Sánchez - Alli - Sigurdsson - Phillips - Capoue
    Zlatan - Kane - Defoe

    FT: 2
    ITB: 0.3m

Just to confirm what City's schedule would be then (if this comes off):

    No GW26
Wed 1st March - Huddersfield FA Cup
    Sun 5th Mar - GW27 sun
    Wed 8th Mar - GW27 STO
    No GW28
Midweek after 15th/16th Mar, CL away to Monaco
    Sun 19th Mar - GW29 LIV

...no-one worried about rotation with all that? Particularly Aguero?

Ye rotation is always a concern with Pep. Especially with that congestion. Aguero's performance last night had much more pressing and tracking back. I think he could stay in the side. Again a risk though.

I think that's right.. DGW 27 is just pulling forward the Stoke game in GW28 so then they blank. I wonder if it's worth it.

Anyone see a big winner here?

    A) Start Defoe
    B) Take a hit, swapping Stanislas for Snodgrass (and then starting Snodgrass and benching Defoe).
    C) Take a hit swapping Alli for Mane

All the moves are part of my plan for the coming weeks. Need help trying to decide what issue to tackle first. Thanks for the help.

My original planning is out the window and I am now 99% certain on these 3 free transfers over the next 2 weeks. Any opinions?

26: Sanchez, Carroll -> Siggy + Kane for free this week.

Know it is a week early on Siggy but that will leave me 2m in the bank.

    27: Kane -> Aguero (C) for free.

28: Will only have 1 free transfer and 6 players before transfers, but a simple -4 fields me 8.

    Thoughts?

    Heaton, Robinson
    Brunt, Baines, Maguire, Holgate, Walker
    Philips, Sanchez, Alli, Eriksen, Stanislas
    Defoe, Ibra and Lukaku

    Which looks better guys?
    A) Defoe and Sanchez for Firmino and Costa
    B) Sanchez and Holgate for Mane and Coleman

so if City beat Huddersfield they just pull forward the GW28 to 27 and then blank in 28 because they are playing in the FA cup?

Ugh.. City player for 1 DGW when I don't have enough players for GW 28 sounds painful.

That's what scares me. Not many players scare me but the likes of Aguero and Sanchez can be so explosive I get worried not having them when they are going to play.

    I have kaku and Ibra
    GW27 kaku to Kun
And Kun to kaku again seems like a decent plan given eve away to Spurs in 27. It decreases the amount of players I will field for 28 but has Kun and Ibra for 27
    Plan or no?

That's what I'll do, also gonna play the TC. That should cover it.

That's my plan... worried it's a bit consensus. My only dilemma is whether to TC Kun because I don't completely trust Pep to play him twice even with Jesus out.
