Our first article for members over the international break arrives this morning. With double Gameweek 34 in mind, we check out a pair of Manchester United assets in light of their win at the Riverside Stadium. The approaching double-headers also find us assessing an improved display from Middlesbrough’s lone frontman and the recent “Allardyce effect” on the Crystal Palace defence.

We also delve into Chelsea and West Ham’s attacks and run the rule over Leicester City’s in-demand frontman, as the Foxes’ renaissance continues.

so let me get this correct the leader of the free world refuses to believe he is ever wrong, has an arrogant attitude with critics, completely deflects from the point when presented with evidence of his inappropriate behaviour, has some dubious supporters and also has what amounts to a trophy wife whom he uses as a front for some of his businesses.

Calling America "the free world" when they have 25% of the worlds prison population despite having only 5% of the worlds actual population, is ironic at the very least.

All this thought on how much united will rotate over April (both on here and the radio), yet off memory I'm pretty sure Mourinho doesn't tend to rotate much at all.

    Hmm, research to be done....

I wouldn't trust any of the mids

Ibra, Valencia and DDG would be my top 3 for minutes.

That's along my lines of thinking. I tend to lurk more than post these days but I think some are blowing up the rotation potential a lot more than it could be

I think the potential is there for him to go for top 4 and the EL, so there will be very few games he'd be looking to field a weak team.

With that said, I thought he would have played a stronger team last weekend given they needed 3 points. It worked out of course, but it definitely was what put me off any of the United mids.

The more I think about it, the less I can make my mind over whether to use TC or BB in GW37. It would be a shame to miss on the best potential for TC if I use it in a different week, but if the TC fails in GW37 I'd be kicking myself and saying that BB was the obvious decision in the only week I can field 15 DGW players...

    1. Clump
      • 11 Years
      9 years, 3 months ago

15 DGW players & BB = a "potential" 30 players in one week.
That's almost 3 gws rolled into one. 37 is bb for me.

      1. Pierce34
        • 10 Years
        9 years, 3 months ago

I know, but last year having 15 DGW players didn't work out great. Still lots of points mind, but the bench boost only added about 15-20 or so for me.

GW34 and GW37 was equally split last year, this year GW37 has a huge choice of player compared to any other game week.

            • 10 Years
            9 years, 3 months ago

Exactly, GW34 turned out to be the better one last year for either chip but at least you could bench boost in either week without feeling you didn't have enough players.

Lord. You are not BBing 15 players. You are BBing 4 players. So, its 8 games vs 4 games for those who have BBed in a single GW, and a matchup between the worst players in squads.

Does it make sense to hold the wildcard if you have a decent team till atleast the next set of double gameweek fixtures are announced?

I have no clue when I should Wildcard.
Triple Captain is either Ibra GW34 or Sanchez GW35/36 but till I don't know that I don't know when to Wildcard.

I've definitely made up my mind to wildcard in GW35/36 for 37, but haven't made up my mind on the TC yet. Why would you wildcard earlier? As you said, if you have a decent team there's no point, especially if the alternative is to bring in lots of Middlesbrough players 😉

    A) Alonso (6.4 value) + Ward Prowse
    B)Fernandez +Pedro

Don't have Vardy and only Chelsea asset I have is Alonso. I just think Sanchez has been the most reliable captain option all season and can see him producing. My other options I suppose would be Lukaku (liv) and Siggy (MID). I don't see Siggy as a captain option due to lack of explosion recently and not sure on Lukaku's away ability.

        1. Football Weekender
          • 9 Years

That's different then, with no Chelsea midfielder or Costa and no Vardy then Sánchez is probably the next best option. I wouldn't dismiss Siggy though - could be a good differential captain.

Any advice for an Antonio holder here? None of the DGW players in the mids seem to hold much appeal (everyone talking De Gea/Valdes, Valencia and Ibra) - which is a problem if you need to transfer out a mid. Looks like Antonio out for at least a couple of weeks - so I need to close the hole.

Only if you are using it for a different reason, off the top of my head:
      Dead team challenge

      Draft league with friends

Maybe in the minority, and I only have one team (not linked 🙂 ) but I don't see why it's a problem and so much anger around. If the same user has 2-3 teams in the same cash league, then fair enough, that's not right, but having different teams in different leagues is meh to me, since the user will have to juggle so many more teams. Don't see what advantage they gain though.

      1. Ziro
        • 11 Years
        9 years, 3 months ago

The advantage is if the opponent has 1 team in both leagues whereas you have 2 different teams. Especially if you are close to the top, you might do separate blocking moves on both teams, which you would not have the option of if you had a single team with only 1 FT.

        1. fedolefan
          • 12 Years
          9 years, 3 months ago

Yeah, i never got this the first time. Impossible to block multiple moves in different leagues with the same team.

Lawro's post on the original thread sums it up perfectly. The way Ruth comes across in his posts in general and the way he speaks to others who dare to have a different opinion than him doesn't help his case either.

You mean the "expert advices" he wrote and generally his little arrogant behavior is a result of the advantage he has of multiple teams and not because of his experience-mind-thoughts etc?

Well, he's proper quoted me out of context in the past and that's annoyed me too, but maybe thought may be we shouldn't let that cloud our judgement over the multiple teams issue.

      3. Lawrø
        • 14 Years
        9 years, 3 months ago

You can think about it indirectly too. Why would one create a second team solely for a cash league if not to gain an advantage? Why not just use your original team? The answer is obvious - there is some advantage.

        1. fedolefan
          • 12 Years
          9 years, 3 months ago

Yeah, I never thought about it this way. I couldn't really pinpoint what the advantage is to be honest. He is still making picks for one team in the league. But, yeah, I think it's people who have the same team in multiple cash leagues, are at a disadvantage, if they have to make blocking moves (kinda like what Ziro said).

It allows one to be very bullish in one's opinions about what players to get and what chips to use and when because one has more than one chance to be proved right.

(PS it is two teams, I thought it was three)

    5. The Rumour Mill

It allows you to cover off opponents. For example I'm entered in a LMS league and a H2H league. Towards the business end of the season I may want to own high ownership players (to progress in the LMS), but also cover my gameweek opponents players in the H2H league. With my one team, achieving both will be tough and sacrifices may even have to be made. With 2 teams I could adjust teams accordingly. Its a huge advantage.

for me there is a simpler reason that two teams is a big advantage. you are in 2 £20 leagues and doing ok in both, to be profitable you only need one of them two do well, so you simply take two different strategies if in a tricky spot. 1 team WC, 1 team wait, 1 team TC sergio last week, the other waits......i read everything before commenting and my conclusion is this, he is trying to gain an advantage.... the only way of proving he isn't is if he's entered both teams into the same league... i e he and the wife are playing against each other. if they aren't and are just in different leagues he's simply spread his bets, thus an advantage over those that haven't.

Middlesbrough have to start scoring or else they are going down, I would expect them to start going for it more in their easier run of fixtures.
I do like my players to have good fixtures, thinking he might be better than Deeney or Llorente over the next 5 weeks.

At least, he has 1 more game 🙂
but you're right, if they want to stay in PL, they have to start scoring. Change of coach could help with this.
With Llorente currently in my team, I would feel it a bit sideways atm, but the situation with Boro needs monitoring and assessing at least for GW34

It will be to BB and accommodate Ibra(c). I can do Lukaku to Ibra in GW34 for a free if I get in a 4.4m mid as my 5th mid. So, might as well get someone with a DGW, whom I'll never play again and will be proper cheap bench fodder for the remaining GWs.
