Our series of pre-season members’ articles continues with a look at the dethroned champions Leicester City.

To open, we check out the team performance levels in a bid to spot any trends or improvements, then move to analyse their main performers with a view to assessing their key targets ahead of the new season.

The Foxes displayed little of the credentials that helped them win the title under Claudio Ranieri in 2015/16. Indeed, they were among the relegation candidates before the Italian was eventually replaced by Craig Shakespeare by Gameweek 26.

They ultimately finished in twelfth spot – only 10 points clear of the drop zone – and found the net on just 48 occasions, which was the tenth most prolific scoring record in the top-flight.

That compared very poorly to their previous season’s output, where the King Power outfit scored 68 times – the third-highest tally – on their way to the crown.

    Some of these transfer moves look stupid:

    1) Javier Hernandez to West Ham. Really? Surely he is better than West Ham?
    2) Florian Lejeune to Newcastle from Eibar. Are Newcastle really saying this guy is better than what they have? I am not a Lascelles fan, but come on
    3) John Terry to Aston Villa. What are Villa going to get from a past it Terry? Their existing defenders were solid for the Championship (Chester and Baker). All he will do is put what is a solid defensive partnership out of joint and its not like Terry has five years left in him.

      Terry signing feels weird. Villa surely don't need a player of his profile. And Terry does not need a year in the championship.

        It's not the money. He turned down more money elsewhere. Even Birmingham offered to pay him nearly double what Villa have offered.

        I reckon he thinks Villa is the most likely place he might be able to pick up one last trophy.

        Yeah, good luck with that Mr Terry. The club is still trying to get out of the shambles it is in.

    Was checking some of my last season's stats on fpl statistico, and embarrassingly, I had a higher PPG for my goalkeepers than my defenders... Well I know where I have to improve this year
