Swansea City are the next side to be assessed as part of our in-depth team-by-team analysis series for members.

We start by checking in on the team statistics in an attempt to spot trends or improvements over the past 12 months before we shift to analyse player data, as we attempt to narrow the field ahead of the new campaign.

Having been ensconced in the security of mid-table in 2015/16 – claiming 47 points to finish in twelfth position – the Swans were left floundering last season. With just three wins in the opening 19 Gameweeks of 2016/17, the Welsh outfit looked doomed at the midway point until the arrival of Paul Clement.

Appointed as successor to Francesco Guidolin, the new manager chalked up four victories in his first six fixtures to steer his side out of the drop zone. Swansea ultimately clinched fifteenth spot on 41 points – seven clear of relegation, scoring 45 goals.

      I like it.
      Pogba/Mkhi not essential when you have Lukaku.. can always wait a couple of weeks to assess and do a double transfer to get one in.

      Apart from the bench being weak, I quite like it. I'm personally not one to go with bench players that don't play but I understand that approach for getting max cash for starting 11.

      Solid. Just keep an eye on Cedric starting or not as your bench defenders are not good for GW1. You can always get Yoshida or another Soton defender if it seems like Cedric won't start.

      You got to downgrade one of the keepers and upgrade Naughton. If Richie and Jay Rod kicked off that's one serious team.

        Sorry missed the defence rotation bit. If you are happy with that then all good. I would still try to save the .5 of keepers and after two weeks Saniels fixture turn really bad - think you need an exit plan for Daniels.

          I have had a look at Daniels difficult games and I would be able to field two from Mee, Naughton and Dunk during these games as at least two of them will have games rated 1 or 2 in difficulty.

          Was thinking of downgrading a keeper but decided to stick with it after reading this article: http://www.fantasyfootballscout.co.uk/2017/07/17/fpl-player-list-analysis-goalkeepers/

          That keeper combo allows for home/away rotation up to GW 20 (BOU MUN/bur STK NEW WHU WAT WAT HUD LEI MCI BHA CHE/bur BOU NEW CRY WBA MCI MUN CRY EVE).

      Nice, but I'd swap Kun for Jesus... for me Jesus is more nailed. Kun has given way to Sterling in friendlies and Jesus has been kept on in the lone striker role.

    Is a Mhki or Pogba double up with Lukaku just a trap that's too tempting

    The positive is the fixture and possible value -
    Negative from a Mhki ( who produced nothing from an FPL perspective last year) or Pogba still playing deep and can't even in latest match stop hitting the woodwork.)

    Gamble worth taking or not?

        Mkhitaryan seemed to be trusted far more by Jose in Europe then in the PL and I think the same will happen again this year.

        Pogba could thrive in a more free role with Matic behind him.

      I like it, but out of personal preference I'd go with Mkhi instead of Pogba as I think he has cemented a starting 11 spot and can provide more goals and assists. And I'd go with Jesus instead of Aguero... Jesus more nailed on in my mind.

    Is anyone else a little concerned about Liverpool rotation with Champions league games after GW1 and GW2 (the 2 best fixtures, followed by Arsenal and City)?

    Don't know whether to downgrade Salah to Zaha and upgrade Milijovetic to a Ramsey/Lanzini/Richie/Redmond (with some cash for the defence in the latter 2)

      Liverpool mids are getting tricky with the threat of Coutinho going to Barca. I was all over Coutinho as the Liverpool mid to get but this nagging doubt is a problem and I'm not convinced Selah will be immune to Champions league rotation. Perhaps the more expensive Mane is the most reliable option now.
