Each week we are reviewing the aggregated predictions on Superbru’s Premier League Predictor game, using the collective Wisdom of the Crowd predictions to guide our fantasy football thinking.
Please join the FFS league here and add your own predictions to the data – the more there are, the more accurate the crowd should be (in theory).
Gameweek 2 Review
There were several unexpected results in Gameweek 2, and the Crowd only managed to predict three out of 10, sending Mr Wisdom plummeting in the FFS league on Superbru – but he’s still 94th out of 350 people and doing better than average.
Congratulations to Ian Thompson, aka Tommoa1, who won the Yellow Cap in the FFS league – he picked 7 out of the 10 matches correctly, including the Chelsea win at Wembley and the Manchester City draw with Everton.
Here are the Gameweek 2 results in descending order of predictability:
We can also review the Predicted Goals Scored and Conceded against the actual results.
Southampton scoring three goals was the most surprising, given their recent attacking travails, whilst the Crowd also underestimated Man United, West Ham and Watford. However, West Ham also conceded more than expected, and we clearly expected more from the Swansea and Southampton defences.
Gameweek 3 Preview
Here is the Expected Goals chart for each fixture in GW3:
And here is the ranking of teams in order of Expected Goals Scored and Conceded:
Once again, Man United sit atop the predicted goals table, suggesting that Romelu Lukaku could be the prime Captain pick once again. Those backing Harry Kane will be pleased to see Tottenham predicted to score at least two goals, but the two Manchester teams are rated slightly higher in terms of expected goals.
The Spurs defence, however, appears to be the best bet for a clean sheet, along with Manchester City and Watford.
Brighton are yet to score a goal this season, and the Crowd is not expecting anything this week either.
Is there anything else that catches your eye in these crowd predictions?
Good luck for this weekend.

Cheers for this.
Intriguing for those thinking of ditching Man City assets in particular.
