Dugout Discussion – Man United vs Everton

Gameweek 5 concludes at Old Trafford as Manchester United’s Fantasy assets bid to end our weekend with a series of hauls.

Romelu Lukaku is undoubtedly the big draw. Still by far the top player, he remains part of 2.8 million squads and is backed by 1.4 million with the captaincy (30.1%).

However, having been the dominant captain all season, his Gameweek 5 support is at its lowest since the opening weekend of the season when he was backed by 28% of managers.

In addition, despite scoring six goals in six outings in all competitions, Lukaku’s ownership continues to slide.

The Belgian suffered a net loss of 72,000 owners ahead of Friday’s deadline and has so far been sold by another 38,000 managers before kicking a ball in Gameweek 5. Over 28,000 of those managers have made the move to Manchester City’s Sergio Aguero, with the Argentine’s hat-trick putting real pressure on Lukaku today. Fail to deliver returns and sales will surely pick up pace.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan also needs to produce.

The Armenian has been the major benefactor in FPL terms from Paul Pogba’s injury, gaining more than 321,000 new owners – second only to Spurs’ Ben Davies for Gameweek 5.

But following the 11-point tally from City’s David Silva in yesterday’s 6-0 win at Watford, Mkhitaryan owners will be keen to see their man produce a return without the influence of Pogba alongside him.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

There was reason recently, Debauchy. I didn't agree with the hate last year and over the summer, but I couldn't defend the Bellerin at LB, Kola at CB or whatever mix he was attempting by playing players OOP. He's deserved criticism this season. Thought he had figured things out after last year. Was more disappointed than anything.

With almost all the big-hitter forwards doing good, we find ourselves inclined to go Top-heavy with 3 big-hitters up front.
However I find this tactic rather weak as in you're not getting much value in those heavy hitters, unless you're captaining them of course
So I've decided to look at the fixtures and go 2 big hitters up front, allowing me to switch captaincy between them two (Sanchez & Kane last year) and play the fixtures in clusters.

Let the mean price be £11M
    Alternating the captain choices
3 Heavy hitters captain rotation would make 4 players per week (including Captain) So that's roughly 33/4 = 8.25M/player
2 Heavy hitters would make 3
    So 22/3 = 7.3M/player
    1 would be 11/2 = 5.5M/player
Although 1 big one gets you more value, 2 allows the option of switching between captains and cover the other's haul also. So it's a more safer tactic while 3 biggies would be too expensive and very less value as I'm sure some of you could support it

Using the FDR, I've looked at Kane, Lukaku, Aguero/Jesus ,Lacazette ,Morata

Here's the results for the best 2 picks according to FDR

    GW 6-8 : Kane + City
    *Post IB* 8-11 : City + MORATA
    *Post IB*12-14 : City + LUKAKU
    15-18 : KANE + MORATA
    19-22 : Kane + CITY
    *Break* 23-27 : City + MORATA
    *April Begins* 28-38 : KANE + LUKAKU

That's about 9 transfers to get the best combo throughout the season
Of course players may get injured, Form overpowering fixtures.other factors...
The loss of some TV isn't much either due to the slow market that we're having right now.

I believe it's more value going 2 biggies up front & You'll have 2 great captaincy options in forward each week.

It depends how you define big-hitters.

The captain choices you have listed above are Kane, Lukaku, Aguero/Jesus, Lacazette and Morata, all of whom are forwards costing over 10.0m.

      Their records to date are:
      Aguero (FWD, MCI, 11.5): 41 points, 8.2ppg
      Lukaku (FWD, MUN, 11.7): 37 points, 7.4ppg
      Morata (FWD, CHE, 10.2): 31 points, 6.2ppg
      Jesus (FWD, MCI, 10.5): 29 points, 5.8ppg
      Kane (FWD, TOT, 12.5): 19 points, 3.8ppg
      Lacazette (FWD, ARS, 10.4): 17 points, 3.4ppg

But do the following not also deserve to be considered as big-hitter captaincy options?:
      Mkhitaryan (MID, MUN, 8.4): 37 points, 7.4ppg
      Salah (MID, LIV, 9.2): 34 points, 6.8ppg
      Vardy (FWD, LEI, 8.5): 33 points, 6.6ppg
      Eriksen (MID, TOT, 9.7): 33 points, 6.6ppg
      Firmino (FWD, LIV, 8.7): 30 points, 6.0ppg

Yes they do, further weakening the case of an all premium forward line
Vardy/Firmino looks great value for the 3rd slot
By going 2biggies upfront we can also afford midfield big hitters that you mentioned.
But you know that you're almost always going to captain Kane/Lukaku over Eriksen/Mkhi

I've just looked at something like this following Palace around, for 3 weeks you could have Kane +

      Aguero H to Palace
      Lukaku H to Palace
      Morata A to Palace

After that you can settle on the beat one or keep going.

For this to work you need to settle on.your defence and midfield and hope for no injuries but in a season where you can't have them all, it might be worth considering.

I think I might hit the WC button tonight.

    Why?

    1. Long and Phillips drops.
    2. Need Lukaku.
    3. Need Salah.
    4. Need Kolasinac
    5. Two of my defensive targets will rise in price.
    6. Potential to make 0.1m profit by getting Silva and Otamendi
    7. Would change 9-10 players.
    8. Saves a -4 this gw and next gw.
    9. If I don't do it this gw then it'll be in gw 8 as gw 7 doesn't look good for a WC at all. Means I may not be able to afford it due to price changes.
    10. Can save a FT next gw and get Alonso in gw 8 who was partly the reason for planning a gw 8 WC.

Thoughts, please? Really lost here. 🙁

    Foster
    Cedric / Davies / Lowe
    Mkhi / Eriksen / Salah / Atsu
    Lukaku / Kane / Chicha
    (Elliot / Hegazi / Carroll / Long)

    A) Kane -> Kun
    B) Chicha & Carroll -> Bony & Gross (-4)

    Foster Elliot

    Davies Jones Alonso Lascelles Zanka

    Silva Eriksen Mkhitaryan Richarlison Choupo-Moting

    Kane Firmino Chicharito

Is it wort -4 to get Aguero Ramsey Abraham in for Firmino Eriksen Chicharito?

No, Firmino -> Aguero looks good but the other moves look like severe downgrades

Glad I activated my WC Friday night, looks a good week to build team value.

Possible double rises on Aguero, Jesus, Salah, Gross.

Avoiding losing 0.1 when Lukaku drops.

I've got David Silva 8.2 with 1.1 in the bank and I would like Mane 9.5 when he returns.Do you think that Silva's and Mane's prices will rise/fall enough for me to get him or shall I settle for Salah once Silva has played Palace?

I have no City coverage. Should I do a free hit so I can get a Kane Aguero Jesus front line with Eriksen Davies Kolasinac and a city defender? Also means I can keep Lukaku for next week's home game against Crystal Palace! Thoughts?

    Foster (Elliot)
    Kolasinac Davies Daniels Stephens (4.0)
    Eriksen Salah Mkhitaryan Brady (T.Carroll)
    Kane Lukaku (Quaner)

    1 FT, 0.6 ITB

Is Stephens to Jones the best move with FT?
