Dugout Discussion – Burnley vs Newcastle

The Gameweek finale falls on Turf Moor, for a Monday night encounter under the lights between Burnley and Newcastle United.

Fantasy interest is limited, in the main, to the defensive players on show. That’s a good thing scanning the statistics building up to this match.

Sean Dyche’s Clarets have scored the fewest home league goals this season, with just two efforts. But his defence have been typically miserly: only Liverpool and Manchester United have allowed fewer goals than the two conceded by Burnley.

Meanwhile, Newcastle arrive boasting just three away goals, only Everton and Crystal Palace have scored fewer.

Their goalkeeper, Rob Elliot, is the most owned player on show this evening. Now part of 26.4% of squads, the Magpies custodian trails only David De Gea (39.2%) in that respect. However, some 62% of Elliot’s 1.4 million owners keep him on the bench for Gameweek 10.

Stephen Ward has become the go-to option in the Burnley defence. The left-back is now owned by 14.7% of managers having already produced a goal and two assists this season, alongside three clean sheets.

    Kane permacaptain for every easy fixture could be a shrewd move from gw13 onwards, allows you to keep Kun for his points as you won't have the 'will he or won't he' issue with your captain.

        Depends on how much he's scoring, if you have a Kane you can just captain every gw + Kun and City are still scoring plenty then you can afford to accomodate him. If he and City slow down or United speed up to the extent that Kaku is matching him then Kun wouldn't be worth accommodating

    How would you get Kane into this team? I have 1 ft and 1.9 ITB. Dont mind taking a hit.

    63k-55k, extremely annoyed over Sanchez not getting any assists from all those chances created. Considering going from 4-4-2 to 4-5-1 with Kane being the lone striker. Rather have a 8.3 player rotated instead of Aguero. Midfield would be: Sané - Hazard - Sanchez - Fernandinho/Gross - Silva, thoughts?

      4-5-1 is a good shout because Jesus and aguero are too expensive for bench warming, morata off the boil, laca pants etc. But dont think hazard and Sanchez are up to speed yet plus some decent budget midfield options (richalison, haha, Ramsey, chipo, rlc etc) so maybe 4-4-2 a safer bet for now?

        Thanks mate, struggling with this one big time. Playing Daniels atm as many have suggested but it's tough!
        CHE v MUN could so obviously be 0-0 so hard to bench Jones and impossible to bench Alonso with his attacking threat in addition to likely cs.

          Newcastle wil score so you depend on attacking return for Daniels and with Newcastle beeing so stubborn at home i wouldn´t bet on that.

    Guys,

    Really need a hand... My team is absolutely atrocious this season but I have no idea why. From my perspective Brady is the only player stinking it up, and I can sell him this week. Other than that all the players look good to me, and I can't understand why I'm doing so bad?

    I usually do quite well... So it's a bit of a unique experience doing so terribly!

        Yeah agreed. I also spent ages doing the hokey cokey with jesus aguero morata when all those injuries and rotation struck...

        Captaincy is a pain. But I've typically gone for top of the poll that used to serve me well (bar this week).

          I honestly think Sané is a bit like the Mahrez situation 2 years ago when the people doing really well were the people who figured out that Mahrez was a great captaincy option early.

          Guy at the top of my league is ranked in the top 500 now, based largely in a steady stream of Sané captaincy points.

      seems like i have a good team on paper but doesn´t work out, for me maybe Brady and Mbemba is a weakness, other than that it seems good. Lukaku could be good but as we seen lately the way United plays he won´t get much points... They say fixtures gettingbetter well, Brighton is quite good defensively as is Newcastle. They won´t be rolled over like Swansea and West ham whos can´t defend. People wil soon realise this, but not til after they played them. To me those three next fixtures vs Chelsea, Brighton and Newcastle wil be very dry and dreary in terms of United attacking points. In other words, Lukaku down to someone (Firmino/vardy) and then get Brady to Sané/Sterling, perhaps?

    Had a really solid gameweek but generally unhappy with how my team is shaping up. Thoughts? 1ft, 1.3itb. Planned to do Haz, Jesus > Eriksen, Kane (-4) (exact funds) but depends on Kane fitness and Hazard finally rewarded my faith, so seems harsh to get rid for a hit.

        Other way to look at it is that now is the time to cash in on his return and get rid before he has to contend with Mourinho's bus but always hard to pull the trigger on a player who was my top scorer the previous week. In some ways a nice dilemma, others an agonising one.

      Wanyama anywhere near return so could be deplyed as CM, as he has been lately. i wouldn´t. More so IF Kane plays, his prospects better then i think.
