Granville is the latest of the ScoutCast crew to be struck down by man-flu, and while Az manfully continued last time out, like myself the week before, my old rival is forced to sit out.

But he makes sure he has his say, priming Jonty beforehand to push my buttons on the “honeytrap” that was Jordan Pickford. Jonty plays a blinder on his behalf as Granville pulls the evil strings from his sickbed.

Elsewhere in this latest episode, your community questions steer us to assess whether we should call time on Marcos Alonso to consider cut-price alternatives. We appraise the Arsenal renaissance, get Az all riled up on “JLingz”, while Jonty has his say on “whipping boys”. That, of course, are those teams that are easy to beat and guarantee big returns.

I still believe that this topic was just another excuse to have a go at Pickford, with Granville sniggering over his Lemsip (other cold remedies and goalkeepers are available).

        Had Pope all along, will replace with Heaton when he comes back. Playing catch up, Burnley triple up served me well before christmas - good fixtures and Ward coming back. Money ITB for midfield upgrade - probably Spurs or Liverpool player later on.

      burnley triple is as good a punt as you'll find on dirt cheap defenders to fund the rest of the team. don't listen to anyone telling you it's too much, just work out the clean sheet percentages and go with it if you're happy. ward might be on limited minutes this week, hard to tell. but for sure 90 next week

      Too much cash spent on the attack when there is so much value elsewhere. No need to go all in on Burnley (when they are likely blanking in GW 31) and to an extent Watford. I would diversify slightly.

      I agree with the poster above, no need for so much money in the bank - you can always upgrade a midfielder with two transfers later on if needed, no need to limit yourself on a WC.

      All in all, a strong spine to the team and some risks (No City, Chelsea or United players). Respect.

        Thanks prof - I'm thinking we're due a shift now to strikers scoring more goals. I'm weary of Man City, Chelsea and United fixture-wise and they all have Champions Lg games which will affect them. Watford midfield is a short term punt can easily be upgraded but think they'll do well in the short term. Also play in GW31. With that in mind I'm thinking maybe Ward to Bauer

          That's all fair enough.

          I'm not sure how much more Aubameyang will score than Wilson/ Ayew to justify the price difference but price isn't an issue here.

          I agree about the Watford midfield in that case, especially if you're playing 3-4-3. An almost non-existent benching headache.

          I think Ward to Bauer is worth a punt, if nothing else in preparation for GW 31.

            Looking long term - love those Arsenal fixtures and think they'll finish strong with Aubamayang amongst the goals. Also offsetting any price rises early. Really not too bothered about defence as long as I have FT cover - think Burnley defence at full strength is a gift for us this season. May just play FH chip GW31 anyway

      Love the front line .. not sure it’s worth getting Doucoure though .. when would you play him? You’d always play the others wouldn’t you? 3.1 itb gives you flexibility but I’d be inclined to upgrade mee to Jones .. still gives you money itb .. good luck

        Think he provides great cover. Also in decent form so good to have the option of putting him in ahead of dealoufeu or even walcott. Also have the option to downgrade him and one other for Eriksen or someone later on. Having faith in Burnley defence - worth the risk I think

      There is definitely more illness around the scout cast mob than any group of grown men I’ve ever seen. Mark especially seems like he needs to sort his diet to boost his immune system. “Toast and jam” won’t be doing you any favours there!

    "What if I stopped playing?" I made a page that'll show you your FPL score if you had stopped playing the game in any given gameweek.

    So if you stopped in gameweek 14 and made no further transfers and didn't change your captain and vice captain choice then you can see what points you'd currently have in gameweek 26 with that "dead team".

    He could have stopped playing in gameweek 20 and he'd only have 20 points fewer than his current score.

      This is quality, needs to be a HT.

      My week 1 team as a ghost ship would be on 1152. The only time my dead team would outscore would be GW25 (+1), mostly because I changed captain from Salah to Hazard.

        Thanks Mysterion, this is clearly a reason not to post after midnight. I forgot to add in the auto-substitutions of normal players.

        I've added a big red warning at the top of the page that the stopped playing score doesn't currently include auto-subs of regular players and so will be slightly lower than the real stopped playing score. Which should be scary for some people! 😛

        This is why I wanted to put all the numbers on display so people could catch any glaring errors like this, so thanks again for double checking the numbers.

        Just going over your numbers, you add up the gameweek before with the total for the gameweek shown, so gameweek 24 actual score is 1434, then the 'gameweek 25' shows 103 points for 25+26, 1434+103 = 'gw 25 stopped playing score'

        but the 103 doesn't include the auto-subs that should happen for gameweek 26 as Christiensen and Alonso doesn't play but only Obgonna got 1 point on the bench and Kenny 0 points, so the real + amount should be 104 and the total should be 1434+104 = 1538

      So my GW1 dead team would be ranked 1.7m.
      Big jump in score came with 1st wc.
      Earliest I Captained Salah was Gw10. If I had left it then or 733k.

      Gw25 first time I fall behind. 2pts.

      No surprise this tool is good. Anewpla.net best fpl tool out there.

        This - way better off than if I'd stopped playing at any time - closest was 10 points difference between GW 25 and 26 - so even that is encouraging.

      Awesome tool. One improvement is that it doesn’t account for auto subs correctly it seems to me. Did my ID (9186), I should be 6 points worse off due to my move of benching Shaqiri last week but I am only 4 points off.

      Excellent, and I look forward to the new improved version.
      I hope that will be another hot topic or an FFS tweet or both.

      One strange effect was that I only scored 26 points in GW11, but my 'stopped playing after GW11' score was easily my highest up to that point. That was probably because I brought Kane back that GW but he was a captain failure.

      My other great leap forward was GW20 when I scored 106, including one of only two successful Kane captaincies.

      But none of my earlier stopped playing scores beats my current score, which is not too surprising considering that I got 62 points and a 47k green arrow in GW26.

      I've added the auto-subbing of players and added some colour

      If your score for a week is more than your current score then it'll be shown in a red box.

      I should have waited until now to announce it as the earlier numbers when it didn't auto-sub players were often quite a lot lower than the final numbers now. Some players are in for a rude awakening it seems :X

        I've just tried this with Ghost Ship Stilicho's team (id 531200), which did actually stop playing after GW1.
        It's actual score is 1444, so shouldn't all it's 'stopped playing' scores also be 1444?
        Are your projections perhaps based on the GW's team after autosubs rather than always on the starting eleven before autosubs?

      I'm going with Bauer I think for the GW 31. I think he rotates pretty well with Mee but need to look into that further.

            Thanks! I picked Lössl last minute on my wildcard just before the deadline after seeing Pope's fixtures. Didn't really use him much, but Adrian has not been performing well enough, so I reckon I could use an upgrade. The problem is Lössl's fixtures look pretty good atm, but that probably won't help a defence that's conceded 46 times so far.
