England combine ruthlessness with luck, Northern Ireland enjoy a Baggies bonanza and France complete a stirring comeback on a busy Friday night of international football.

Here’s how all the action played out.

England 3 Scotland 0

The Liverpool goal train chose Wembley as its latest destination, with Daniel Sturridge (9.8) and Adam Lallana (7.2) setting England on the way to a victory considerably less emphatic than the scoreline suggested.

Scotland outshot their opponents by 12 attempts to nine from just 32% possession, while England scored from all three of their attempts on target, with Tottenham full-backs Kyle Walker (6.1) and Danny Rose (5.9) both providing assists in impressive attacking displays.

Gary Cahill (6.0) scored the third, from a Wayne Rooney (8.6) corner, while Raheem Sterling (8.1) had a great opportunity to break his seven-match goal drought in all competitions but somehow fired over from inside the six-yard box.

Jamie Vardy (9.6) has gone even longer without a goal – 14 matches in all competitions – and has lost 450,000 Fantasy Premier League managers since Gameweek 1. The 9.5% of bosses still backing him saw their man given only a late cameo against Scotland and he seems highly unlikely to start Tuesday’s friendly with Spain either.

The 3.5%-owned Hull midfielder Robert Snodgrass (5.5) played 81 minutes for the visitors as he continued his return from injury, but was among a number of Scottish players to spurn chances.

Such profligacy leaves Gordon Strachan’s future in further doubt while Gareth Southgate moves ever closer to being handed the England job permanently.

England: Hart, Walker, Cahill, Stones, Rose, Henderson, Dier, Sterling, Rooney, Lallana, Sturridge (Vardy 75).

Northern Ireland 4 Azerbaijan 0

Northern Ireland’s comfortable victory was very much a Black Country affair.

Three of the four goals were either created or scored by West Brom players, with Gareth McAuley (4.7) netting from a Chris Brunt (4.9) assist after Jonny Evans (4.5) had set up the host’s opener.

Brunt was also on hand to fire in a shot that Southampton’s Steven Davis (5.2) flicked in for the final goal and the Baggies man continues to attract our Fantasy attention.

Classed as a defender in the official game, Brunt has been used in a more attacking role by Tony Pulis since returning from injury and now has some form to go with a good set of upcoming fixtures – Burnley and Watford at home and Hull away.

As an aside, the long search for ‘The New George Best’ is finally over. McAuley’s ninth goal for his country, brought him level with the Northern Ireland legend.

France 2 Sweden 1

Two of the Premier League’s brightest stars helped France come from behind to win in Paris.

Paul Pogba (8.2) headed home from a Dmitri Payet (9.3) free kick to equalise before the West Ham man hit the winner not long afterwards.

The French side was packed with Premier League talent, with Hugo Lloris (5.5), Laurent Koscielny (6.5), Pogba, Olivier Giroud (8.8), Payet and Moussa Sissoko (6.7) all starting. N’Golo Kante (4.8) also made a brief late appearance.

Fantasy managers will hope French coach Didier Deschamps uses those assets rather more sparingly in Tuesday’s friendly against the Ivory Coast.

Elsewhere in Europe, Germany just about shaded it in San Marino, firing in 40 attempts to nil and having 19 shots on target as they won 8-0, with Man City’s Ilkay Gundogan (5.8) providing an early assist. Arsenal’s Shkodran Mustafi (6.0) was an unused sub.

Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen (8.1) converted a penalty and scored again with a brilliant solo effort in second half stoppage time as Denmark beat Kazakhstan 4-1. Middlesbrough man Viktor Fischer (4.9) spent the evening on the bench.

Bournemouth’s Josh King (5.4) played the full 90 minutes for Norway, scoring a late consolation in their 2-1 loss to the Czech Republic, while Everton midfielder Gerard Deulofeu (6.0) converted a penalty for Spain Under-21’s as they drew 1-1 with Austria.

Swansea goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski (5.0) kept a clean sheet as Poland beat Romania 3-0.

Further afield, Sunderland midfielder Wahbi Khazri (6.1) got the only goal, a penalty, as Tunisia beat ten-man Libya, while Southampton’s Maya Yoshida (4.3) started for Japan in their 4-0 friendly win over Oman.

Community, would you be more comfortable going without, in your squad:
    A) Aguero
    B) Sanchez
    C) I'd want both.

That's my most likely route too, tbh. But not sure if Aguero is worth the 13m with the recent analysis of maybe having as good captaincy options up until the new year.

Lukaku as Aguero replacement GW4 and then Captained him too. 22 pts from nine to 62 GW score.
      366597 OR to 17590 OR.
Kept him since too. Though getting rid now after banking a 0.4 gain.

I’ve been thinking about it myself. Perhaps better to play Heaton against better opponents than Foster against weaker due to a higher likelihood of Heaton save points than Foster clean sheet.

Also, West Brom has several defenders that seems better to have than Foster (although I unfortunately have Evans).

What is your conclusion on this? Get Robinson and use £0.6 elsewhere?

Well it felt like Antonio & Snodgrass to Shaqiri & Walcott (-4) just before Hull game was pretty good. But since then, not so good.

After that game I sent him packing for Allen and kept Walcott, but regret not selling him for Firmino (-4) and banking the cash. I did it this week before the price rise, which was also before the Sanchez news (owner). So one good decision led to two bad!

Dropping point leaders twice. Dropped Capoue going into GW6 on my WC. Banked a profit and made some rank. Going into GW11 I dropped Sanchez for Hazard. Both Capoue and Sanchez were point leaders at the time.

Kept Firmino all the way - this was a preseason decision. Told myself I'll try and keep Firmino as long as possible taking the price drops in the process.

Who do you think is the best replacement for Sanchez(if ruled out for United game) if you already have Aguero, Hazard, Cout-Firm-ino?

    A) De Bruyne
    B) Ozil
    C) Walcott

Obviously the money saved will come in handy like with Walcott I can get 2 6m defenders and upgrade Redmond(5th mid) to Siggy.

    Appreciate your thoughts!

Even I'm tempted to go Ozil. But Cazorla back would hamper his points output from set pieces surely. He's got 2 assists from set peices since Cazorla has been out.

    2. Cresscendo

Depends how long Sanchez is out for...

Walcott if you want to upgrade multiple players in the near future.

Ozil if it's short term and you want him back.

De bruyne if you you think city will be scoring a lot over the next month. Cos double city big hitters will be a big differential if that happens.

      1. Karan_G14
        • 9 Years

This is far more confusing than I thought it would be. But I'm tempted to Ozil or Walcott. De Bruyne just ties my transfer up a little bit and I'll be bit worried about City rotation every week.

Yeah, if I were you I'd be looking at reinvesting in another Arsenal player. And I agree with your above point regarding cazorla returning and sharing set pieces with Ozil.

So I think you've answered the question yourself.

I have the same issue Karan.

Think I'd probably stump for an arsenal player....

Theo is likely to rotated while ozil is nailed... .therefore think I'll reluctantly go ozil.....

If wenger says sanchez is touch and go for United I may just hold the transfer tho....

My starting point isn't great as money tied up everywhere else. Top heavy team and can't get up to 6m without numerous hits in one gameweek, that's the hard part, need to decide which of my big guns goes.

Anyone else get really frustrated by early price changes?

I think the game would be much improved if price changes only happened once a GW with the deadline. The current system is too complex for casual players to know what's happening and creates a level of complexity which doesn't add much to the game imo.

Obviously player prices need to change to make the market more flexible but the situation whereby certain players end up with 4-5M more funds than others leaves casual players alienated and leaves FFSers and the like all buying the same players and following any likely big risers out of fear that they'll lose out later.

I'd recommend a system whereby players changed price with the deadline with a max change of 0.2M so that when you did your transfers had no effect and casual players could actually integrate with the system.

Any thoughts? Prepared to be shot down!

Price changes are designed to stop people all having template teams, though, and reward people who pick top performing players.

The price changes stop people just jumping on bandwagons the moment a couple of breakout players appear, because it costs you and normally means you have to get rid of one decent player to obtain the other.

I understand why they're there so as annoying as it is I don't have an issue with it.

        1. CABAYE4
          • 13 Years

There's no reason why they need to happen every night though.

Clearly they are needed, and as you say without them most people would pick the same people, but among those on FFS I think they actually lead to a different sort of template, where everyone buys the players who go up.

but the 4-5 mil is earnt over a season and only really comes into play in the 2nd wildcard, ppl that chase tv usually have to take a lot of hits to do so, others get lucky with picking players early before they gain popularity, I think the current system works fine because some will always look to make transfers early, take this international break for example, and may end up having to take further hits to field 11 due to injurys ie potentially costa sanchez etc, whereas others who sacrifice price gains can make transfers with all the information albeit at a higher price

        1. CABAYE4
          • 13 Years

The problem with the risk/reward of making an early option is that most people playing the game don't think about that as they don't understand how it works, they just make a transfer when they want to make a transfer, even if that's when they're mad at Lukaku on a Saturday night.

You're 100% right about FFS having the advantage of TV over casuals. Some of my ML are still around 100m. But the game needs to cater for all and the hardcore players deserve the extra money considering the amount of time they put it

I agree hardcore players deserve to gain something from their time, but I don't think the day you do your transfers should impact on how you perform in the game which it does under the current system.

Its not that complicated, information and advice is available to everyone, and I think it is right that those who put more effort in should get an advantage. There is also a risk/reward element in the timing of transfers, particularly during long breaks, which adds to the challenge.

It is not difficult for anyone playing FPL to find FFS (or other sites) where advice is freely given. It does require a bit of effort, but not that much.

I like the idea. What I like about the current system is the extra element of challenge and risk, though. Do you go for the early hit? Or do you ignore the price rise in order to avoid injury? I think this makes the week between matchdays more interesting and also means different people make different decisions. If everything was done right at the end of the week, everyone (on here at least) would be bringing the same players in at the same time.

Still think there is some substance to the argument though. I guess we'll never fully know how it would be unless we experienced it.

One of my family members team is run with no transfers unless a player is red flagged or dropped from the squad. Cos they cant be bothered with all the bandwagon panics & price checking.
So far 6 transfers, has a TV of 102.5 and is the highest OR team in the family.

OK it wont be top 10k end of season, but for effort versus reward its doing just fine.

with "budget" defenders it might be a nice differential if it comes off. Actually if it only comes off once in four games you could still have a budget defender averaging 3PPG which isn't bad.

There aren't many budget defenders offering clean sheets.

      International Break, Injury Updates, Summary.
#Hazard - Knock, should be OK for the qualifier on Sunday. Keep.
#Bellerin - Out for at least 4 weeks, time to sell.
#Sanchez - No proper verdict after assessment, hurt and might miss the qualifier. Wait.
#Koscienly - Little knock, Wenger wants him rested, should be OK. Keep.
#Rondon - Stayed behind as a precaution. Will be ready for Burnley. Keep.
#Chadli - Improving, should be ready for Burnley. Keep/Buy.
#Smalling - Hurt, won't be ready before Middle of December. Sell
#Kompany - Ruled out of Belgium's match on Sunday, can't seem to stay fit. Sell/Don't buy.
#Dembele - Also ruled out, might just about be ready for GW12. Keep
#Gomes - struggling, still, might just about miss GW12, Wait.
#Bravo - Hurt, and badly too, surely missing Chile's qualifier.
#Soares - Working hard, should be ready for Liverpool on GW12.

You are right, Smalling is hurt. Mourinho hurt his feelings and he needs a month to recover from the verbal abuse.

Is there any substance to your claim that Hazard is injured? Not even flagged on FPL and they are very flag happy lately.

Read the rest of the paragraph. It's a knock he's not injured really.

Why is it in an injury update then? No need to mention him

Probably wanted to bring it up as Hazard was hobbling at the end of their last game. I think it was meant to offer positive view on the situation as some were concerned.

There's no confirmation of an injury or that he's a doubt for GW12 - he was seen hobbling on the whistle but there's no way we can say whether he could have run that off in normal time as it was right on the whistle.

Here's why i'm captain Lukaku next week:

      Swansea are s***.

Do we reckon Chris Brunt will keep his place in the team?

Could be fantasy gold if so.

Could slot into Left back instead of Nyom or keep his place on the left wing where he played last two games. Played full 90 minutes last two games aswell. Very interesting prospect indeed if he can keep his place.

Why is it so hard to get decent honest tradesmen to do work around your home. I've had three quotes for damp proofing ranging from £400 - £3000 all with different explanations of what the problem is after a cursory look around. Bloody cowboys the lot of them.

If you're in the UK, having a friend who is in with the Polish community is very handy for this sort of thing

Key word is community. Back in the days we personally knew most of the people we bought/sold/dealt with or knew them through someone. That is lost now and there's constant fear of getting ripped off 🙁

Best thing is through family and friends. The good honest ones earn people's trust which further helps them.

You're right. Have had some good ones to be fair, it's the salesman types you don't know who cause the problems.

Even if someone you know can't do the job at hand, they can point you in the right direction. Stuff like approximate cost, time etc.

To diagnose the reason for it / source I mean. It's usually a process of elimination by trying the most common fixes but no guarantee that it will make a difference.

Cavity wall insulation can sometimes be the cause for example.

Those 'reputation' sites are worthless too.
The worst rip-offs I had came from supposed Checked, Qualified, tradesmen with nice website galleries. Must be their crooked mates who give them the references & lord knows whose pictures they filched.

Can you tell me what your damp problem is? Im currently training in that field as there is no one in my area that does it and i'll quite happily tell you what i think from a quick explanation. £3000 is a pretty bloody drastic to be honest. I know people who have had a new roof fitted for that price. Most damp problems can be solved easily and 60% of the time its just ventilation that needs addressing.
