The Gameweek 2 Team News

Michail Antonio is available for West Ham’s trip to Southampton. Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is expected to be fit for the home clash against Crystal Palace but West Bromwich Albion’s Jonny Evans is a major doubt for an away day at Burnley.

Swansea City head coach Paul Clement has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the home encounter with Manchester United, though forward Fernando Llorente remains out as he continues to build up his fitness levels after breaking his arm.

Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe revealed that Jermain Defoe is in contention to start against Watford, after the forward came off the bench in the 1-0 defeat to West Bromwich Albion. A late decision will be made on Simon Francis (hamstring).

Daryl Janmaat, Younes Kaboul and Roberto Pereyra will all miss the trip to Bournemouth after suffering low-grade muscle injuries in the 3-3 draw with Liverpool. Troy Deeney has returned to full training following a groin injury though, while Christian Kabasele (hamstring) and Brice Dja Djédjé (fractured finger) resumed training in the middle of the week and may be available.

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has no fresh injury concerns ahead of the home meeting with West Bromwich Albion.

Jonny Evans (hamstring) looks set to miss West Brom’s trip to Turf Moor, while Gareth McAuley (thigh) and James Morrison (knee) remain sidelined.

Brighton & Hove Albion boss Chris Hughton will be without Izzy Brown for the trip to Leicester City, after the midfielder suffered a hamstring injury during the 2-0 defeat to Manchester City.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp revealed that Daniel Sturridge is expected to be fit for the visit of Crystal Palace to Anfield, but Philippe Coutinho and Nathaniel Clyne both remain out due to back injuries.

Mauricio Pellegrino has a fully fit squad to choose from for Southampton’s home clash against West Ham United, with Ryan Bertrand recovering from a minor knock picked up during the goalless draw with Swansea City.

West Ham manager Slaven Bilic will have Michail Antonio available for the trip to Southampton following a hamstring problem, but Manuel Lanzini (knee) will return to training on Monday.

Mark Hughes has confirmed that new signings Bruno Martins Indi, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting and Jese Rodriguez will all feature in the matchday squad at home to Arsenal.

Arsene Wenger welcomes back Per Mertesacker for the trip to Stoke following a facial injury, while the Arsenal boss also revealed that Shkodran Mustafi and Francis Coquelin will be in the squad. Tomorrow’s match is expected to come too soon for Alexis Sanchez (abdominal injury), though.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman revealed club-record signing Gylfi Sigurdsson will undergo tests over the weekend to assess whether he is ready to feature in Monday night’s trip to Manchester City. Sandro Ramirez (heel injury) is a slight doubt after missing last night’s 2-0 win over Hadjuk Split.

All this and more has now been updated in the Team News section ahead of this evening’s deadline. Keep an eye on our official Twitter Stream for breaking news – as the day unfolds, we will issue updates from Friday’s press conferences and refresh our Team News tab accordingly to keep you informed.

If Sturridge plays, what do you think will be the effect on Firmiho returns? Better or worse? I'm guessing he may play number 10?

I was tempted to chuck Firmino the armband...

Probably worse. Either less advanced or reduced minutes. I have Firmino but playing safe with Lukaku

I am having a first world problem in my draft league though. Have Kane, Laca & Morata and just noticed Jesus is available as well. (only 4 players in the league).

Wow even with only 4 players in the league I would've assumed Jesus would've been snapped up. I would bring him in for Morata personally. What other city players do you have?

            1. sunzip14
              • 7 Years
              7 years, 1 month ago

No one. And I just did Morata>Jesus. Different priorities I guess. Some have pretty strong mids and some have solid defenses. I think mine must be quite balanced. What do u think?

              My team atm is

              Cech, Ederson
              Trippier, Alder, Daniels, Baily, Bertrand
              Siggy, Ozil, Ritchie, Willian, Pogba
              Kane, Laca, Jesus

Ridiculous front 3 but sadly that's at the expense of the midfield. I'm assuming no 8+ options available at the moment apart from perhaps Sane?

Yeah. That is why I had to bring Ritchie. Jesus was taken but I do not understand why he got released by one of my cousins. must be coz of City quota.

I'd play JRod for sure - unlucky not to score last week, and playing at his former club, where he was born and came up through the youth team.

Tough to bench any of those defenders, but I suppose Davies would be the obvious one.

    Good to go?

Considering playing Willian ahead of TAA, but think I'll leave it as is.

    ------------------Elliot------------------
    ---Bailly| Stones | Stephens | TAA
    ----Eriksen | Mkhitaryan | Tadic---
    ----Lukaku (C) | Jesus | Firmino----

Fabianski-- Willian -- Carroll -- Long
