The Fantasy Flutter with Paddy Power – Gameweek 17

We turn to three of the top five sides in our attempt to get the better of Paddy this weekend. A couple of in-form midfielders and a forward from the Blue half of Merseyside are our main men – the trio also found the way into this week’s Scout Picks as we put our money where our mouth is:

Our first port of call is at Craven Cottage where Fulham brace themselves for the visit of free-scoring City. Since recovering from injury at the start of last week, David Silva has scored against Bayern and Arsenal already and with that in mind, we fancy the little Spaniard to breach Rene Meulensteen’s backline and steer his side to victory in the absence of Sergio Aguero. Paddy have generously offered odds of 11/2 on Silva to find the net and City to register a clean sheet and we’re confident enough to throw £4 their way.

Next up we head to the Liberty, where Swansea go head-to-head with Everton. The hosts are severely weakened at the back and will be without Michel Vorm and Angel Rangel through injury and suspension respectively, offering the in-form Toffees another chance to pick up the points under Roberto Martinez. Paddy are offering a towering 18/1 on Romelu Lukaku to score twice or more and the Toffees to register a clean sheet – given that they’ve conceded once in their last four road trips, we’ve convinced enough to stick £3 on this one.

Our final bet is kept for Monday night’s encounter at the Emirates, where Arsenal take on Chelsea. A win would leave the Gunners sitting pretty at the top of the table and give Arsene plenty to smile about as he tucks into his Christmas Day sprouts and we’re banking on Theo Walcott continue the form that saw him bag a brace at the Etihad last Saturday. With Paddy prepared to offer 17/2 on a Walcott goal and Gunners clean sheet, we empty our wallet of its remaining £3.

If you’re yet to register an account with Paddy, be sure to check out this week’s “Tasty Treble”. Paddy are offering odds of 5/1 on Liverpool, Man City and Man United all to win against Cardiff, Fulham and West Ham respectively this weekend.

Register and Bet £10 And Get £20 Free

If you’re new to Paddy Power, then you can take up any of these odds and get yourself a bonus. You can sign up on via this site and get a free £20 when you register an account and bet a tenner.

Finally, of course, we should state that all these offers are only available to those aged 18 and over and are subject to Paddy Power’s terms and conditions. Also, if you’re going to bet, always gamble responsibly.

Silva or Nasri? No other Manc coverage and not enough for Yaya.

    A. Silva will likely to have more minutes putting injuries and YC aside, which equates to higher points seeing that the FPL points are nicely spread across the team. Pellegrini seems to be easing Silva back slowly, and with gw 18 (LIV) and 19 (PAL) only 3 days apart, and gw 20 (swa) 3 days later, a start at home to LIV looks imminent. This indirectly means Silva may be rested at home to PAL, or limited game time in both games if he is to start. Added the fact that Silva is on 4 YC and that he played 70min on wed, will Pellegrini choose to take the cautious route and not start Silva?

    B. Nasri is 0.8 cheaper and will allow me to do Terry to a 5.1 def (instead of 4.3) to fund walcott next gw. His ppg of 4.5 is lower than Silva 6.2, though the latter sample size is smaller. Milner seems to be the player possibly eating into this minutes, but with Zab out, Milner may have to take over the right fullback role.

If Pellegrini chooses to play a 4-5-1 formation and Nasri on the wide, I can see him being upfront more than when playing 4-4-2. Silva possibly playing in the hole should translate to better ppg.

With the scenario that Silva gets his 5th YC and Milner likely to take over right fullback, I am leaning towards Nasri to have more game time and points than Silva until Jan WC.

Or is Silva still worth the risk of his 5th YC?

As a Nasri owner I'm hoping Silva gets his 5th yellow on Boxing Day thus ensuring that Nasri plays and runs the show against Palarse on 28th 🙂

Think so too. Walcott does seems to have an edge.
There is all the chance that Silva may not get a yellow though.

I will likely go with Nasri as a 4 week punt.
It's gut feel vs the world.
