Our regular Friday lunchtime article comes round once again, as we take a look at the PlayON Player Price List ahead of tomorrow’s deadline. As always, we offer a couple of picks per position: one essential weekend target and a left-field alternative for your consideration.
PlayON have now extended their deadline for submitting your teams so you can now tinker with your starting XI right up until the first kick-off each week – so tomorrow that’s right up to 15.00.
PlayON has Freeroll games and Guaranteed Pot games running each week for the rest of the season at www.PlayON.co. This week they have £350 in Freerolls and over £2,000 in Guaranteed Pots on offer – to get your free entry into the Freerolls just follow them on Twitter at https://twitter.com/PlayON and like them on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/PlayON
Goalkeeper – Costel Pantilimon
Aside from their home defeat against City, Sunderland have been resilient in recent matches and racked up three clean sheets in four, including impressive defensive displays against Chelsea and Liverpool. The Wearsiders host a West Ham side that have been in convincing away form this season and scored at least once in every road trip – the Romanian goalkeeper is therefore a left-field pick but, at only 6.6m, could be worth taking a risk on if funds are required outfield. Tim Howard faces a QPR side that have lost all of their away matches so far, scoring only twice in those seven defeats. At 7.5m, the American is relatively cheap cover for the Toffees defence compared to Leighton Baines (9.5m) and with Charlie Austin suspended, a shut-out looks likely.
Defender – Andre Wisdom
The right-back has nailed down his spot at West Brom and after registering a fifth clean sheet of the season away at Hull last Saturday, the Baggies welcome rivals Aston Villa to the Hawthorns in resilient form. The visitors have scored just two goals in their last six road trips and, at a price of just 6.1m, Wisdom looks a decent budget enabler for our defences. After collecting three consecutive clean sheets, Chelsea unexpectedly conceded twice at Newcastle last week. A home fixture against a Hull side who have scored once in their last four away trips bodes well for the league leaders and, having seen off the threat of Filipe Luis, Cesar Azpilicueta (8.3m) comes into consideration – the versatile defender bagged an assist in the last home match against Spurs.
Midfielder – Yannick Bolasie
Whilst Mile Jedinak has found the net on five occasions for Palace, there’s no doubt the Congo international has been their form player. Despite scoring just once this season, Bolasie has offered plenty of goal threat for Neil Warnock’s side – over the last four Gameweeks, his total of 18 attempts on goal is at least five more than any midfielder in the Premier League. Available for just 7.5m, Bolasie’s attacking thrust down the left could prove the undoing of a visiting Stoke side without a clean sheet in their last nine league outings. Eden Hazard (13.7m) is the essential pick in midfield after scoring in his last four successive home matches. Rested for the midweek Champions League clash against Sporting Lisbon, the Belgian will be fully refreshed as Jose Mourinho’s side look to return to winning ways against Hull at Stamford Bridge.
Forward – Edin Dzeko
The City striker is back in Fantasy managers’ thoughts due to Sergio Aguero’s unfortunate knee injury. After a stint on the sidelines, there’s still some doubt over Dzeko’s match sharpness but, having started ahead of Stevan Jovetic against Roma in midweek, he looks poised to retain a spot in Manuel Pellegrini’s XI away to Leicester City. At 11.7m, the Bosnian is comparatively cut-price compared to many of the forwards from top teams – granted, he’s scored in only one of his 11 league appearances and needs to up his consistency but a showdown with the basement-dwellers looks the perfect platform to re-ignite his campaign. Romelu Lukaku has yet to score more than once in a league match this season but the Everton forward has been a solid pick in front of his own fans. The Belgian has scored in each of his last four starts at Goodison and a home clash with a QPR side that have conceded 17 on the road looks tailor-made to continue that run.
