Arsenal grab some early season silverware and Newcastle find a home-grown hero as two Italian giants are sent packing. Get the scores, goals, lineups and other details here…

Arsenal 2 Inter Milan 1

Arsenal claimed the Emirates cup victory with a moment of brilliance from Robin van Persie. The Dutchman issued a timely reminder to all Fantasy Managers by crashing home a 85th minute winner after Hleb had eqaulised Inter’s earlier effort. Wenger promoted 17-year old Kieran Gibbs to the side to play on the left in front of Hoyte, while on the right Sagna played at full-back with Eboue in front of him. Clearly Eboue is seriously being considered for this right midfield role where he played the full 90 minutes today. Hleb once again, figured just behind van Persie up front and was outstanding.

Arsenal Lineup: Lehmann, Eboue, Toure, Hoyte (Traore 69), Gallas, Sagna, Gibbs (Bendtner 79), Fabregas (Denilson 83), Flamini, Hleb, Van Persie.

Newcastle 2 Juventus 0

Goals from Luque and Carroll won this prestigious friendly for Big Sam. Luque got the first from the penalty spot – taking the duties away from regular taker Nobby Solano. Luque then picked up a knock and was subbed for Carroll who came on to hit the second goal, knocking in a rebound from a Martins effort. Taylor and Butt were both rested for this game with ankle and knee injuries respectively.

Newcastle Lineup:
Given, Carr, Rozehnal (Edgar 46), Ramage, Huntington, N’Zogbia, Solano, Milner (Troisi 46), Luque (Carroll 31), Geremi (Dyer 46), Martins (Pattison 46).

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
