Carlos Tevez will sit out tomorrow’s Community Shield game but will make his United debut against either Dunfermline or Glentoran on Wednesday. As I’ve mentioned in a previous post, the arrival of Tevez at Old Trafford offers more questions than answers for Fantasy Managers. It seems likely that he will be paired up front with Rooney but, due to their ability to play similar roles, both players could be rotated over the course of the season. For the first few month’s that looks unlikely, particularly while Sir Alex’s options up front are limited with Saha still crocked.

Tevez is valued in all Fantasy Games as a West Ham player – that makes him an obvious target. Right now then, Tevez is doubtless being transfered into Fantasy sides as this is typed. However, it might be worth exercising some early season caution. Having played in the Copa America in the summer and with no United friendlies under his belt, Sir Alex may ease his new treasured possession into the season with a few sub appearances. Tevez himself has already remarked that he faces an uphill struggle without any pre-season games behind him. It could be then, that Tevez plays a cameo role in the first few games. Sir Alex may well be keen to hand him a full home debut later in the month, and the match against Tottenham on August 26 looks an attractive proposition.

Meanwhile, those with Rooney in their lineups will be shifting nervously and will need to monitor the situation closely. Even if rotation isn’t a factor, another consideration for those playing the Fantasy Premier League game, is that the return of Bonus points for both Rooney and Ronaldo seem set to take a hit now these United playmakers share the same pitch as the mecurial Argentine.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
