Harry Redknapp is apparently fuming having had it confirmed today that Jermain Defoe is not eligible for selection against Spurs at the weekend [source]. Defoe is apparently ruled out as a result of technicality involved in his move from White Hart Lane.
The deal taking the striker to Portsmouth was initially a loan deal and Premier League rules state that any player involved in a loan move, prior to a permanent deal cannot play against his former club in the same season. Redknapp first heard of the complications yesterday and today it was confirmed that he would not be able to select the striker who has scored 6 goals in 6 games.
Kanu will now partner Baros up front if Redknapp persists with a 4-4-2.
