Moyes has thrown us a rather large curveball by renewing his nasty habit of shuffling his back four and dropping Jagielka to the bench for today’s clean sheet banker with Derby [source]. Nice one.

Baines comes in at left-back with Lescott moving alongside Yobo. There’s no mention of an injury to Jagielka so we can only put this down to Moyes dropping the former Sheffield United man after he looked decidedly shaky in the last couple of games, particularly at home to West Ham.

Jagielka is owned by nearly 200,000 managers playing the FPL game, who will now be banking on an unlikely goal for Derby and fidgeting nervously over the player list as they attempt to anticipate Moyes’ next move with the mid-price defender. As it happens, after the trip to Birmingham next weekend, things get tough for the Everton defence so it may well be time to look elsewhere to fill Jagielka’s place.

More on this in the weekend Scout Notes to follow.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
