Chelsea’s appeal against John Terry’s red card awarded in the game at Man City at the weekend, has been successful.
The FA have announced that a Independent Regulatory Commission hearing upheld Chelsea’s claim and that “Terry’s three match suspension has been withdrawn”.
Despite the harshness of the initial decision it was widely expected that Terry’s ban would stand. As part of the FA guidelines Terry would have to escape the incident without a yellow card. There’s no talk of the punishment being reduced to a yellow so, rather bizarrely, Terry’s challenge on Jo was not seen as worthy of a booking, let alone a three match ban.
Regardless, Terry will now play against United on Sunday. I can imagine that Ferguson is chuffed.
