Chelsea’s Alex has escaped a possible three-match ban for his apparent trampling of Everton’s Tim Cahill in last night’s game….
It was revealed earlier that the FA had requested that referee Phil Dowd should review the footage of the incident having missed it on the night. Dowd, having seen the evidence, has decided that Alex would not have been dismissed for the offence had he caught him in the act.
“Dowd informed the FA that, had he seen the incident, he would not have shown Alex a red card. On this basis, the FA will not be taking any disciplinary action,” remarked an FA Spokesman.
I just wonder if we’d have got the same verdict without Terry’s dismissal in the same match and of course, the post match reaction from the Chelsea camp. I’m sure Fergie is delighted at the news. We can only await his inevitable comments on the matter…
In the meantime, Chelsea’s Alex remains a lucky boy and a decent fantasy prospect given the fact that he looks assured of starts against West Brom and Fulham in the absence of the suspended Terry.
