Jose Mourinho has brought fantasy football to the fore in today’s press with claims that reports of his interest in Jermaine Jenas have sparked from his own fantasy football selections…
Mourinho is one of the columnists fronting the Daily Telegraph fantasy game and had apparently selected Jenas in his initial lineup, along with Gareth Bale – another player that has been linked to Mourinho at Inter.
“In my squad I put Jenas and others. Six months later the market reopens and it comes out I like these players”, explained Jose.
“I like them, otherwise I wouldn’t have put them in my squad, but that’s a transfer market without rules”. Not quite Jose – but we kind of get your point.
Mourinho is a brave man drawing attention to his fantasy lineup – he’s not had the best of times this season. He is currently lagging outside the top 100,000 managers and is being trounced by rival Alan Hansen who is doing rather well by comparison. Bizarrely, there’s no sign of Jenas in Mourinhos squad past or present, but we’ll take his word for it.
Indeed, looking closely at the players he’s “liked” over the season, we can only presume that Steven Taylor and Mark Noble will be subject to exciting Inter speculation soon. I’d keep the receipt for the Italian phrasebooks though guys.
