Well, what a fantastic start to the football season we have had! Two gameweeks, sixteen matches and not a single draw in sight. Only two clean sheets in seven games from the top four so far, and Spurs have steamrolled to their best start in years. But none of that really matters, let’s get down to business of how the Scout Leagues are faring after the first two weeks…

Fantasy Football Scout League (Fantasy Premier League)

Well then folks, as has been mentioned we are current reigning champions in this fantasy game. We’re going to be looking to hold onto our trophy one more year, and show everyone else the Scout means business. Currently sitting in third place – we are almost there already, just a few more points and then we can stay there for the rest of the season. Topping the league with a whopping 149 points is Khurrum Longi (X-Ray Dog), so wherever you are – well done my friend. You made some pretty plum picks with your wildcard following week one, let’s hope you can help push us to becoming the top league.

Fantasy Football Scout League (Can You Kick It)

Coming out of the traps like a whippet, we have already snared top spot for the Scout League over on CYKI. With all three FISO leagues right behind us though, let’s not take anything for granted here – we have a tough battle ahead yet. So who’s to thank so far? Well then, we actually have three Scout commenters in the top three positions – well done lads. Ian Broome (of Ian fame) is currently ruling the roost at the top of the tree, and at a lofty 5th overall too. Not to be undone, Slinky Cabbage is only two points behind and helping the cause no end. And all the RMT’s in pre-season seem to have paid off, because Wassup is currently sky high in third place. Big congratulations to you three so far, I’m not too far behind – so let’s all push to hold the top spot for us.

FFS H2H 1

Now then, the Head to Heads have finally started. Let’s pick out a few choice results then. Starting at the top, a big well done to Besparamedic who is so far leading H2H 1. With two well scored victories (including a barnstorming 72 this week), you already look like a tough foe, and one I do not look forward to facing myself. We can’t ignore Mark in the first round up, so after pipping Akers to the three points with a 61-60 victory in gameweek 1, our site runner was undone by Seanigula in week 2 to join the mid table masses on 3 points from 6 so far. Our sincere condolences must go to Granville too, languishing at the bottom without a victory so far, he will surely bounce back stronger than ever from his tonkings by myself & Marknlard these past two weeks.

FFS H2H 2

League administrator Dick Fran Dyke is currently top of H2H 2, with scores of 67 and 59 so far it’s not hard to understand why he is currently top of the pops. With a game against Fran next week, he certainly begins to face another challenge to remain unbeaten. A shout out must go to Fran too, with a highly respectable score of 117 so far (despite a few worries on site about the weakness of her forwards) Fran has only managed to muster 1 point so far. Most of us would have expected a victory with a score of 63 this week, but Waggy gave her a fight right until the end, with both sharing the spoils. She has definitely have some tough competition to start with.

FFS H2H 3

Joining the administrator fun time (where am I going wrong?), Hammer Time is currently leading the lines in H2H 3. With Jemaine Defoe and Dirk Kuyt in tow, it is perhaps unsurprising that Hammer was able to dispose with Luke this week – a hat-trick sure goes a long way to aiding a victory. With a match up against Just One More Thing this weekend, let’s hope Hammer doesn’t count his chickens just yet. A big arm around the shoulder is deserved for TorresMagic I feel, despite scoring 112 points over the first two weeks, our Australian companion has had some very tough competition in his match-ups so far failing to register a point – the win is surely right around the corner.

FFS H2H 4

With one of the best teams names out there (Get Defoe Kuyt) Sasquatch is currently sitting pretty atop H2H 4 – despite not following his team name and capitalising on the points coming from the two aforementioned players like Sasquatch did. Pre-empting all bandwagon hysteria, Sasquatch looks to have won his games with select choices of Jason Koumas & Glenn Johnson, well done there. With an equally impressive score of 131 and two victories, Dáire FitzGerald deserves a shout out for his stellar start. Now he must face off against Benedict Wong who scored a staggering 81 points this midweek (and that was even with Carrick scoring 0 falling on a 7 point swing, and Michael Turner scoring -1 against Spurs), very well done Benedict.

FFS H2H 5

In a league with more readers and less commenters (or at least many folks have yet to let themselve be known yet) we have occasional commenter matzi11a currently reigning champion in H2H 5. Well done Mat, it seems the selection of Shawcross in week 1 and Kuyt as captain week 2 have helped propel your team up the table. Despite somewhat self-referrential comments in pre-season irking fellow commenters, credit where credit is due goes to rez-rez this week: captaining Glenn Johnson for his bumper 18 points haul was a strong (and brave) move, and one that paid off and got you your first 3 points. Well done.

FFS H2H Reserve League

Well this league is bumper, chock filled with highly competitive and highly skilled managers. Hard to pick out true gems amongst the few hundred who must be residing in here. But, rather unsurprisingly, the aforementioned Khurrum Longi (current Scout leader) has won his first two Head to Head match ups – so a double congratulations is currently in order. Hopefully you won’t be complacent, there sure are plenty of brilliant managers on your tail. But a couple of places behind, James Read deserves a mention purely because we here at the scout love his team name – Diaby Does Gallas. Well done, perhaps the best pun out there – keep that one high up the table please James.

Well there we have it, two gameweeks down, only another 36 to go. I’ll see you all for my next round-up soon folks, fingers crossed I might be able to plug myself to no end at some point (but I sincerely doubt it). Random average placing here I come! Until next time… Game on.
