Martin O’Neill has handed new signing Richard Dunne the number 5 shirt. Fellow new singing, James Collins, gets the number 29.
While it’s no guarantee of a starting role, this move and the fact that the number 5 was worn by former defensive stalwart, Martin Laursen, offers some indication that Dunne is indeed ahead of Collins in the pecking order for a start in Villa’s defence…
Dunne is available in the mid-to-low price bracket, with a value of 5.0 in the Fantasy Premier League game. Collins comes in at 4.5 in that game and is cheaper across all the other top fantasy games. With decent fixtures over the next three (bir POR bla), it will be interesting to see how the pair settle and whether they warrant any attention from us fantasy managers.
Meanwhile, O’Neill has reassured Nicky Shorey that he still has a role to play at Villa. With Warnock and Bouma nearing fitness, I’m not so sure.
