The 7th round (quarter-finals) of The Fantasy Football Scout Cup, sponsored by Paddy Power, takes place this coming gameweek with the winners guaranteed two more games, whether it be the grand final itself, or the 3rd place play-off after the semis. For now, here is the draw as it happened earlier in the week, plus important news regarding the semi-finals…

So, first to the draw. As most of you will be aware, Mark, with the assistance of Granville and a dodgy sound effect, carried out the draw on the podcast. Here is how it unfolded:

  1. Pure Olivia Vs. donnellyc
  2. Breakballartist Vs. Leeds_Champion
  3. George Vs. Barkerov
  4. Sam (Team Sam) Vs. Poshleftme

[Once again, the full results are available here, if you wish to see how each contender got this far.]

After last weeks performance Pure Olivia (46,141st in the world), who takes on donnellyc, is no longer the lowest ranked team left in the competition. That title goes to Sam (Team Sam) (48,349th in the world) who limped through with 46 last week. He takes on the only American left in the competition, Poshleftme.

Yet again, the two highest ranked managers have found themselves drawn against each other, with 23rd in the world Breakballartist taking on top 1000 manager Leeds_Champion.

Five points is all that separates the managers in quarter-final 3, where George takes on Barkerov.

That’s it regarding the draw, so good luck to all our quarter-finalists this week.

One last thing to mention is that the semi-finals will not take place during GW12 which is the gameweek following the quarter-finals, but instead they will take place in GW13. The reasoning behind this is that the window of time between GW11 and GW12 is only a couple of days, and we will be building the semi-finals up somewhat with hopefully some interviews with the final 4, including perhaps some appearances on the podcast. More on that next time though.
