It looks as though Fabio Aurelio is the next Liverpool player to join the queue at the Anfield treatment rooms as reports this evening claim that he has suffered a calf injury whilst on international duty with Brazil. Aurelio looked likely to win his first cap against England in the prestige friendly but the left-back did not train with the squad today and the report also claims that he hasn’t even joined up with his compatriots.

So far, there’s no confirmation of the injury, and the report claims that the Brazilian federation are waiting on some red tape from Liverpool before revealing more details. I’m not sure about that. What I am pretty sure about is that my strange fixation that Aurelio will come into the side in the absence of Benayoun and Riera on the left of midfield and make an impact, now looks to have evaporated. Aurelio could now be facing another spell on the sidelines, adding to Rafa’s recent injury troubles.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
