David Dunn is an early doubt for Blackburn’s Carling Cup tie with Chelsea in midweek having sustained a calf injury in yesterday’s 0-0 draw with Stoke.
The midfielder, employed just behind Di Santo in a 4-5-1 once again, lasted just 31 minutes before limping off with the knock. Assistant boss Neil McDonald gave us some brief information on the injury following the game but details at this stage remain vague.
“It looks as though it is a little bit of a calf injury…He’s had an ice pack on it so we’ll assess that and see what it is like after the weekend…We’ll see what the medical staff say and we’ll take it from there.”
Dunn has been a popular fantasy signing in recent weeks, fuelled by 4 goals in 7 starts prior to the Stoke game. The double fixture in gameweek 13 also saw his popularity rise and he is now owned by 12% of Fantasy Premier League managers…
He could now go into the weekend clash with Liverpool at Ewood as a doubt which would come as a big blow to both his club and fantasy owners. Given Dunn’s importance to Blackburn and his long run of kind fixtures following the Liverpool game (hul bir TOT wig SUN mcy FUL WIG whm stk HUL BOL), it seems unlikely that many fantasy managers will be contemplating getting rid just yet. We await further news in the week.
