There’s been some significant edits to our African Cup of Nations guide this morning, most notably with the removal of Portsmouth’s Kevin Prince Boateng and Tottenham’s Sebastian Bassong, who both stay behind with their clubs having been left out of their tournament squads…

Firstly Portsmouth are boosted by the confirmation that Kevin Prince Boateng has been left out of Ghana’s squad due to “pure technicalities”. Paperwork was apparently to blame then – a blow for Boateng but a massive boost for Avram Grant and his fantasy owners. Grant will also have John Utaka available to him – he has been left out of Nigeria’s squad for the tournament.

Harry Redknapp will be delighted that Sebastian Bassong has been surprisingly omitted from Cameroon’s African Nations Squad. Their squad was confirmed just yesterday.

In addition, Ghana have announced that they have allowed their English based players to remain with their clubs for the fixtures on December 28 and 29th. This means that John Paintsil, Richard Kingston and John Mensah should be available in gameweek 20, although Pantsil will miss Fulham’s second fixture in the gameweek at Stoke.

Our table has also been updated with various tweaks added – included meeting dates for the Togo and Nigerian squads. Keep up to date with the latest here.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.
