The results from the 64 fixtures in the third round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup II, sponsored by Paddy Power, are in, and can be viewed in full here.

For a highlights package of the third round, including news of an astonishing achievement from one of our participants, and a Scout Contributor’s fate decided on overall rank, read on…

First, to the extremely impressive achievement from this week’s top scorer. With a score of 125, NBJ makes it three top scores out of three. This entitles him to three free £25 bets, courtesy of Paddy Power.

K3lviN was this weeks cannon fodder for NBJ, losing 125 – 51. This was also the round’s widest margin of victory. NBJ started the competition outside the top 3,000 overall, and now finds himself 67th in the world. His superb run also sees him top the table for March. Well done!

I also noted that after auto-subs, NBJ’s bench reads: Arteta, Rooney, Drogba. Incredible. Anyway, that’s enough NBJ loving for one week.

The tie with the highest aggregate score saw menders beat Aliwilly 102 – 91. Menders and NBJ were two of six centurions in round three. The other four were fiacloir (who battered 1nozza 100 – 43), Verbal (bettering nimajneb 104 – 70), jaydiddled (who saw off Junaid786 106 – 53) and second-best Scout pundit Granville (who beat hoges 108 – 74).

Granville’s only other colleague left in the competition, I’m Not Marshal Foch, had a much tougher time of it this week. His tie with jodybarnes ended 72 – 72, with I’m Not Marshal Foch having to rely on his superior overall rank to see him through into round four. This was the only draw of the round.

The narrowest out-right win saw Gros (62) squeeze past hduck (61) by a single point. Another narrow victory saw CRUSHER crush beat migthty contender wickerman 64 – 62 (finally got your namecheck wickerman ;)).

This week thepopo is the fantasy manager able to navigate his way into the next round with the lowest winning score. He edged out hugo in a low-scoring 37 – 29 tie. Morrissey1986’s 40 was the second lowest winning score, beating bretta’s 34.

Several of the ‘big’ match-ups I highlighted in the third round draw article, were actually low-scoring events. Louie narrowly beat TorresMagic 48 – 45 thanks, ironically, to some Torres magic. Evs beat Joe 52 – 42, Burton saw off conor2me 62 – 35 and the tie between two of the heavyweights in the competition, ZB FC and Little Lukin, saw the latter eliminating 43rd in the world ZB FC (slipping from 3rd) 59 – 30.

SammyC is now the competitions highest ranked manager, currently lying in 5th. He negotiated his way into the fourth round by beating Scratch 87 – 76.

Congratulations to the 64 remaining managers making it into the hat for the next round. The draw for which, will be made and published in the next day or two.
