Hot on the heels of yesterdays results round-up article, the draw for the last sixteen of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup II, sponsored by Paddy Power, has been made. The eight fixtures will be played over Gameweek 35 and as always there will be a prize of a free £25 bet for the fantasy manager achieving the top-score. Without any further ado, here, with some predictions for a change, is how the draw panned out…
Despite consecutive green arrows since round one, 6,029th in the world fiacloir has it all to do in his match up against the highest-ranked manager in the competition Evs, who sits 399th overall. The key to this tie looks like it will be how each manager deals with their injury doubts. Akers predicts: Evs.
2 – mysteryDave Vs. Morrissey1986
Plenty of differentials in this one with just six identical players. Too close to call. Akers predicts: mysteryDave. (so not too close to guess)
3 – Squerly4568 Vs. BSH
Even more differentials here, just four matching players. Another tie that could go either way. BSH has a significantly superior squad value which could see him through. Akers predicts: BSH.
4 – williamkilcoyne Vs. Buggu
Yet again, loads of differentials (ten). A Liverpool clean sheet would probably go along way to end williamkilcoyne’s cup run, and I can see it happening. Akers predicts: Buggu.
The key to this tie looks like it could be Louie’s plethora of double gameweek players, who he will be hoping put him through. Akers predicts: Louie.
6 – Hunter S. Thompson Vs. Steve
Both these fantasy managers will be looking to stop a little run of red arrows as well as progress to the quarters. Very few differentials in this tie, and one performance or choice of captain could swing it. Akers predicts: Steve.
7 – BonusPolice Vs. IMWORTHIT
There’s no doubt IMWORTHIT will go into this tie as favourite thanks to his far superior ranking over BonusPolice (506th in the world, compared to 31,468th). I’m going to go for the upset however, with Glen Johnson making the difference. Akers predicts: BonusPolice.
Defensive fantasy favourites have split backing in this tie, with Jonty doubling up on Birmingham players in his back-line, and Rowlands opting for a Stoke pair plus Hart. Clean sheets for one over the other would have a massive bearing on this fixture should Rowlands bench Hart, despite there being plenty of difference makers elsewhere. Akers predicts: Rowlands.
So there you have the eight fixtures that will be played this week. Having probably cost the people on the end of my predictions their tie, please feel free to undo my jinxing my making your own predictions below. Nonetheless, good luck to all sixteen of you left in the cup.
