As the season draws to a close, few fantasy managers have much, if anything, left to play for. However, for the final four in the Fantasy Football Scout Cup II, sponsored by Paddy Power, huge cash prizes remain up for grabs.
Hoping to reach the final were Buggu, IMWORTHIT, Jonty and Louie. The draw, made live at the end of last weeks Scoutcast, had Louie facing IMWORTHIT in Semi-Final I, and Buggu pitted against Jonty in Semi-Final II.
With news on who has negotiated a passage into the final, and who will have to settle for a battle for 3rd, read on…
Semi-Final I
Despite his captain only managing four appearance points, IMWORTHIT had six of his team scoring double figures. His additional double gameweek players (Heurelho Gomes and Clint Dempsey) certainly look to have done the business and been the difference. With victory, IMWORTHIT (now 529th in the world) has secured a guaranteed cash prize of £100 (deposited into a Paddy Power account), and, with a score of 93, earns himself a free £25 bet.
Louie will have to turn his attention to the 3rd-place play-off, where a win will be worth £50. With a strong, but losing effort this week, Louie moves up to 390th in the world and will surely be the favourite in his tie.
Semi-Final II
The second semi-final had a slightly wider margin of victory, but again both managers chalked up good scores. When you see that Buggu (1,168th overall) drafted in Gareth Bale and Clint Dempsey, it’s clear he didn’t do an awful lot wrong. Already having Gomes in his squad was essentially the difference for Jonty, as he, like IMWORTHIT benefited from having both Gomes and Bale.
Sitting 13,667th in the world, Jonty will go into the final as a slight underdog, but it is certainly all to play for.
So well done to IMWORTHIT and Jonty for reaching the final. I’ll be doing a preview for the final tomorrow, where I will take a closer look at each of the finalists’ teams.
