The FFS Cup II, sponsored by Paddy Power – The Final Results

After nine consecutive rounds of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup II, sponsored by Paddy Power, a new champion is crowned. In a high-scoring final, Jonty edged out IMWORTHIT 85-79 to take home the £200 prize (plus free £25 bet), and claim his place in our hall of fame.

As I alluded to in the preview of the final, the deciding factor was indeed the gameweek 38 transfers. Both players made a rewarding transfer, selling Jermaine Defoe for a goal-scorer. However, Jonty’s reasonably inexpensive subs meant he had to funds to bring in Didier Drogba, who of course scored a hat-trick and acquired 16 points. IMWORTHIT, on the other hand, raided his bank to purchase Robin Van Persie, who was only able to muster a single goal. With so few differentials, that really was what won it for Jonty.

So congratulations to Jonty, who finishes the season 11,351st in the world, improving on his previous years effort.

Jonty’s path to victory:

  • 1st Round – 74-58 Sonnky
  • 2nd Round – 119-79 blue moonies
  • 3rd Round – 87-40 The Brook Terrier
  • 4th Round – 76-57 thepopo
  • 5th Round – 42-40 Doy7
  • 6th Round – 76-69 Rowlands
  • Quarter-Final – 84-59 Squerly4568
  • Semi-Final – 91-82 Buggu
  • Final – 85-79 IMWORHTIT

Despite losing, IMWORTHIT has a very nice consolation prize of £100 to soften the blow, and elsewhere, Louie beat Buggu 81 – 80 to scoop the 3rd place prize of £50.

Thanks to all who took place in the competition and also thanks to SUPERIOR BEING for running the competition with me. I look forward to the third instalment early next season.
