The Scout League Summary – Woken Up Now September Ends

Another international break has given us the time and space once more to look back over a month (and an extra day or so) across the variety of Fantasy Football Scout Leagues.

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) is of course our most intrepid and time consuming endeavour, so we’ll be starting off on the pastures that are most familiar to us…

Fantasy Premier League

The Good…

We start with a pat on the back for our good selves, which coincidentally means nothing without you lot, as the Fantasy Football Scout league itself is a healthy yard or two in the lead as the league to beat, with almost a 10 point lead. A milestone has also been reached as we crossed 5,000 league members in this last week. Not joined yet? Then roll up, roll up and let’s take over the shop.

In the league we have site poster WhoWhoZela storming the rankings currently, with a healthy six point lead over safir islam in second place as Zophar builds on his August Members League success by rounding out in third place. Five thousand or so other managers have them in their sights.

As for the weekly battles we see Roger C top Head to Head One with a record of six out of seven, better than anyone else, including lead chaser Adil. Head to Head Two sees dadoune lead tinoss based on overall ranking in an even contest among the top four. TorresMagic is miles clear of Mark (that’s our Mark) in our third Head to Head, while Rouge123 tries to catch up on leader Denial in the fourth of our leagues.

Dan B settles into top spot of our fifth Head to Head league thanks to his world ranking of 48th, as The Fish hopes being almost 23,000 places back won’t hurt too much. Cake or Death and BilboBaggins hold the one-two places respectively in the sixth league. The last, but not least, select entry Head to Head (number seven), sees EasyLuckyFree have a slender lead over greghammer95.

There are nine Managers in our Reserve League who are unbeaten after seven fixtures, with one overall point handing Graeme Matthew the lead as of now.

The Bad…
Not to dwell on the unfortunate too much, but everyone likes to know there’s always someone doing worse than them, and those about to be highlighted may even help from a casual kick up the proverbial.

JWF JN, Sparky, SuperDunny, Donnylad, gizmothelegend and rrcmc are the seven managers at the bottom of each of our Head to Head leagues – you’ve got a month or so to get your names off the “must try harder” list.

Shane Ettridge and his vertical smile gets the wooden spoon at this venture, and he’s a little unfortunate as his weekly score of 39 points sees him bottom of the Fantasy Football Scout league – to be fair to him though, he did only start this week.

The Ugly… (otherwise known as the Scout team)

Last time we spoke a measly five points separated Granville and Mark after one month of action; a little over two months gone and Mark has made a charge on his mancunian cohort to pass and now lead by 17 points; that’s what four of those elusive green arrows in the row will do for you. In doing so, Mark has also soared to the top of the Contributors League with a passing manoeuvre on Sir Paulos this most recent gameweek. I find myself in sixth, still, for the umpteenth week in a row but changes are afoot – Pure Olivia is catching up fast, so seventh beckons soon.

Metro Fantasy Football

The manager currently at the peak of the Fantasy Football Scout league is Pat Lawes, making the most of the less than judicious Metro rules by also chasing their own wake in second place too. Hmmm, here’s hoping the multi-teamers see some keen competition from the solo players like myself (oh, I fell from 90th to 104th since last time) as the months roll on.

European Adventures

The midweek Champions League adventures kicked off their long thirteen gameweek adventure and our Scout League celebrates being first place in the league of league competition. Miroslav Markovic and Francois Bozize (our league one-two) have our thanks for that.

The extreme managers who requested a Scout League for some sadistic Thursday Europa League action got their wish. Ajay Gera and Garima Gulyani are the only two of 57 mangers to break one hundred points so far. Scout, and cup maestro, Akers is right up there too in fourth place.

That’s just about everything. See you in early November for some more Scout League fireworks.

        Do you not think that the problem is not the debt but the problem is the 200m+ of mediocre players that have come in and out in the last 4 years?

        The Liverbore fans are just as guilty as the Americans, they blindly supported Benitez as he took apart the club piece by piece, the Americans are just the easy targets because the fans are too stupid to see what they have played a part in.

        The owners or the debt do not play on the pitch.

          I think you are hit and miss on the above mate. Yes they have some very mediocre players but they also have world class - gerrard, Torres, reina, and some better players - Joe cole, kuyt, Johnson,carragher

          For me, it's the expectation and pressure from the fans and owners. Football is football anything can happen. But I think with Liverpool. When they get a bad results it seem to be the end of the world. Especially for players like gerrard who is an emotional player. AnywY that my 2 pence worth

          While you do have a point I think it is important to note that there is a series of problems at Liverpool.

          Personally I don't think the fans opinions make that much of a difference. There were plenty of Liverpool fans all over who wanted Benitez gone for a long long time and it didn't matter. Those decisions are not made by the fans although they probably can have an influence.

          I also feel that the on-pitch failings of the side are OK, it's a game and you can never be sure to win. It's more worrying that the club is in depth and therefore in a downwards spiral that is impossible to get out of because there is no money.

          I'm gonna write something about Arsenal now so please don't go into defensive mode - I would be happy to be Arsenal that don't really win things either, and that is obviously because the club is well run by the board and have not been set into debt by their owners. So they have the future for them, but Liverpool do not.

Its been and unbelievable slide since then but I don’t think you can really lay the blame entirely at the door of any individual – its been a series of failures by a number of parties; owners, managers and players that have led to this situation.

              I do think that the owners must take the biggest responsibility for the situation the club is in now though, as the owners of any company would. They are in charge of finances and the finances are a big reason why things are looking so grim.

                Im not gonna get defensive Garg as you make good points, I just look at the players that have come in and those that have gone out to think the club has been managed poorly, even if the Americans pumped 100m into the club there is no evidence to support that it wouldn't be wasted, Hodgson is not innocent either, he has brought enough players who are shocking in his soon to be over spell as manager.

                  It would be a big mistake to get rid of hodgson so soon, and he hasn’t really brought in that many players so far – some were already deals done. He has largely inherited a squad lacking in depth of quality but I think he can turn the corner with more time

                  I absolutely agree. The transfers made by Rafa were mostly horrendous with a few exceptions and Hodgson has started off where Rafa left.

                  I'm with you on the fact that Liverpool might not have had a trophy with 100m spent either. As I said I think that is OK though, many clubs win nothing and the sensible Liverpool fans should know to have patience at this point of time. Many still seem to believe Liverpool should be challenging at every front every year though.

                  In the end for me though the most worrying and saddening part is that there is no future either unless the debts are cleared. I think most football fans can live with a poor past, but with no future there is no reason to even care for a club.

      On a wildcard I think you should be bringing in Fab. Also money spent on Koscielny & Vidic is money wasted in my opinion.

      If you want a bolton striker why not go for Elmander, in great form & doesn't get as many cards generally.

      If Fab is coming back for Brum, I'll probably do Gerrard>Fab and Malouda>Nani.

      If he isn't, I'll just go Gerrard>Nani, but Mal is probably not going to last much longer with me.

    Anybody else notice that so far this season FFL wise, VDV has been quality at home and Bale has been point scoring away?

    I imagine it's because the home team attacks which gives Bale more room to counter attack. A shame they can't simply be rotated! 🙂

    This is the first year that I've been (trying) to take the game seriously. I'm really tempted to use wildcard, but worried that it's too early and that I'll regret it later. However, noticed that a lot of the pros on here are using it this GW or have already done so. Any advice? Cheers.

      that would be my ideal midfield. but it does leave you pretty light up top and at the back. depends whether you think it's worth it?
      you might get a bit more balance downgrading one of Arteta/Nani/VdV and getting a tevez or a Berba? you also have to play 3 of those defenders every week...!

      Im trying to keep my WC until i really need it...so injuries, players not starting etc. We'll see if i can hold out!

          i was looking at more or less the same team only i had Faye in instead of coleman, might take Arteta out for yaya tho which means i cant keep the likes of Alex and get a city defender in aswell

          Adam and Tevez ticking along, Toure still getting a bit of attention, however slight, Elmo I had since start so not so much a potential double WC riser for me, VDV still on top of transfers in, I think we might have to wait until Friday week to make some late switches having made .2 on some players

    Bale & VDV but I think they are both class players and Bale is still doing well down the left hand side, he's just been unlucky.

      if it was me i'd choose one of Bale & VdV...then try and get Malouda in...i think Chelsea will score more goals than Spurs this season and that Drogs and Malouda will be involved in a lot of them.

      I dont think anyone who is bringing in 5 top midfield players are think about the formation which means that you will have to leave out one forward in the bench all the time which is not really advisable.
