Another international break has given us the time and space once more to look back over a month (and an extra day or so) across the variety of Fantasy Football Scout Leagues.

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) is of course our most intrepid and time consuming endeavour, so we’ll be starting off on the pastures that are most familiar to us…

Fantasy Premier League

The Good…

We start with a pat on the back for our good selves, which coincidentally means nothing without you lot, as the Fantasy Football Scout league itself is a healthy yard or two in the lead as the league to beat, with almost a 10 point lead. A milestone has also been reached as we crossed 5,000 league members in this last week. Not joined yet? Then roll up, roll up and let’s take over the shop.

In the league we have site poster WhoWhoZela storming the rankings currently, with a healthy six point lead over safir islam in second place as Zophar builds on his August Members League success by rounding out in third place. Five thousand or so other managers have them in their sights.

As for the weekly battles we see Roger C top Head to Head One with a record of six out of seven, better than anyone else, including lead chaser Adil. Head to Head Two sees dadoune lead tinoss based on overall ranking in an even contest among the top four. TorresMagic is miles clear of Mark (that’s our Mark) in our third Head to Head, while Rouge123 tries to catch up on leader Denial in the fourth of our leagues.

Dan B settles into top spot of our fifth Head to Head league thanks to his world ranking of 48th, as The Fish hopes being almost 23,000 places back won’t hurt too much. Cake or Death and BilboBaggins hold the one-two places respectively in the sixth league. The last, but not least, select entry Head to Head (number seven), sees EasyLuckyFree have a slender lead over greghammer95.

There are nine Managers in our Reserve League who are unbeaten after seven fixtures, with one overall point handing Graeme Matthew the lead as of now.

The Bad…
Not to dwell on the unfortunate too much, but everyone likes to know there’s always someone doing worse than them, and those about to be highlighted may even help from a casual kick up the proverbial.

JWF JN, Sparky, SuperDunny, Donnylad, gizmothelegend and rrcmc are the seven managers at the bottom of each of our Head to Head leagues – you’ve got a month or so to get your names off the “must try harder” list.

Shane Ettridge and his vertical smile gets the wooden spoon at this venture, and he’s a little unfortunate as his weekly score of 39 points sees him bottom of the Fantasy Football Scout league – to be fair to him though, he did only start this week.

The Ugly… (otherwise known as the Scout team)

Last time we spoke a measly five points separated Granville and Mark after one month of action; a little over two months gone and Mark has made a charge on his mancunian cohort to pass and now lead by 17 points; that’s what four of those elusive green arrows in the row will do for you. In doing so, Mark has also soared to the top of the Contributors League with a passing manoeuvre on Sir Paulos this most recent gameweek. I find myself in sixth, still, for the umpteenth week in a row but changes are afoot – Pure Olivia is catching up fast, so seventh beckons soon.

Metro Fantasy Football

The manager currently at the peak of the Fantasy Football Scout league is Pat Lawes, making the most of the less than judicious Metro rules by also chasing their own wake in second place too. Hmmm, here’s hoping the multi-teamers see some keen competition from the solo players like myself (oh, I fell from 90th to 104th since last time) as the months roll on.

European Adventures

The midweek Champions League adventures kicked off their long thirteen gameweek adventure and our Scout League celebrates being first place in the league of league competition. Miroslav Markovic and Francois Bozize (our league one-two) have our thanks for that.

The extreme managers who requested a Scout League for some sadistic Thursday Europa League action got their wish. Ajay Gera and Garima Gulyani are the only two of 57 mangers to break one hundred points so far. Scout, and cup maestro, Akers is right up there too in fourth place.

That’s just about everything. See you in early November for some more Scout League fireworks.

Can't begrudge Mark from making a little bit of dough from the thing he's put his blood, sweat and tears into a for a few years now can you? The ad space is still minimal and I don't find them intrusive at all tbh, seeing as the ads don't extend down alongside the comments, where you spend most time.

So, toying with Fabs + Arteta + Mario/RVP rather than Malouda + Etherington + Tevez over the next few game weeks and then for the rest of forever until one of them dies

    Just seems counter-intuitive

    Alex/Elmohamady/Konchesky
    Malouda/VdV/Fabregas/Nani
    Berbatov/Drogba/Odemwingie

Think I'm going to leave it as is unless anyone sees any shockers in there? I realise Alex and Konchesky might miss a game but I can't afford to get them back in if I sell so not worth the risk in my opinion.

I've already taken a hit this week to get those players so would like to avoid it if possible. I realise 'pool are playing poorly, I think I'll give him until they play blackburn at home to see if he can keep a clean sheet there. I have Williamson (playing Wigan at home) and Foley (playing West Ham at home) to put in so I can live with that for a week i think. 0 in the bank.

Manger's who have A Cole in their team. What are your plans for him? I'm loathe to get rid of him or Malouda. But ultimately i'd have to if i want Fab. He's the ONLY midfielder i would want at the moment. I'm not sold on VDV so i'll keep faith with Bale.

Cole's next 4 sees him travelling 3 times. I can see him keeping a CS in at least 2 of those matches with perhaps some attacking returns/BPs.

The alure of Fabregas is very hard to ignore and i could get left behind if i don't get him in. 3 home games in his next 4...eish!

    Conundrum.

As a Chelski, I'm keeping Cashley and will play him with Mummy week-in, week-out (barring injuries and suspensions). Then all I have to worry about with a 3-man defence is which home boy looks best that GW.

Lose Evans for Alcaraz or Crainey (you've already got Enrique) to feel up some funds.

You have a great mid but lots of money spread there which I think is influencing your forward line.

You need to make the call on which mid(s) to lose to have a hope of getting Fabs.

The ongoing discussion about Malouda is interesting.

My problem with him is that you should feel confident captaining a £10m+ player. If you have Drogba as well you're always going to captain him if Chelsea have a favourable fixture.

Malouda has yet to assist in the Premier League, which might be anomalous but it might also indicate he's reliant on his goals for points. His easy run of games ended a few weeks ago.

If you want Fabregas back and you can't justify having both, Malouda seems to be the one who has to make way.

True. Of course there is good reasons to keep Malouda, but with so many good midfield options now it seems like the best decision (atleast for me) to let him go. Fabregas is a must.

I posted this a couple of days back about Malouda:

I’m thinking of binning him this week… There’s a chance that he’ll be rested for the Wolves game, with us playing in Moscow during midweek. If he is, then he’ll have the following fixtures in the next 4:

      avl – liv bla

Rotation is 100% going to happen for the Wolves game, because of the trip to Russia and the ease of the fixture. Ancelotti has already shown that he is more than willingly to rest our bigger players, even if games that aren’t that easy, like the West Ham one. It’s just a question of which attacking players will be benched.

For me, Malouda is the most likely of the wide players. Pressumably he’ll have played twice for France during the international break, whereas Anelka obviously won’t have! And Ivory Coast only have one game during the break. So all this adds up to, at least in my mind, Malouda being the most likely out of the front three to be benched vs Wolves, assuming that Kalou and Benayoun are both fit again – which they should be, the game is in 3 weeks time.

Again, this is all assuming that we play our strongest side in Moscow, which I would imagine we will do considering they are also on 6 points in our group.

      Upshot of all this is:

      Malouda > Nani. Yay!!

Good logic jamsiep, I think he'll be gone from my side this week. I'm reluctant to get rid of him as he's great value, but I know I'm going to need Fabregas sooner or later, so assuming the news on Cesc stays positive it'll be Malouda->Fabregas this week for me.

Yeah I'll be bring Fabs in this week, along with Nani, for Malouda and Gerrard.

Obviously I'm not saying that Malouda is 100% going to be rested for the Wolves game, but with the fixtures he could potentially have if he is rested, I'm not prepared to risk it.

It really is, but something has to give somewhere... For now at least I can't let go of the Drogba-Tevez combo up front, or Hart in goal, so it looks like Malouda might be the one to go.

Drogba is 88. By Mr. Potato Head I presume you mean Rooney, he is also 88. But Drogba shades it because of more 'specialities' and he is one of the few 'complete forwards' in the game.

I take your word for it that Drogba is better... Makes me very happy.

Fifa seem to be trying to have player personalities on it this year, different traits and specialities. Example: Speedster, Long Shot Taker, FK Specialist, Strength, Engine, Aerial Threat and many others. Drogba and Villa (I think) are 'complete forwards' because they have all the specialities of a complete forward. Frank is a 'complete midfielder'.
The specialities make it great. They act in the game as they would in real life.

Computer programmers think Drogba is better. This makes you happy? Shame the people who play the game, and the writers who watch the game don't agree

No bother. Here do you know if there is a way of saving your default team selection for friendlies etc? Ben Arfa, Tiote etc are all in the reserves so I dont want to piss around changing them every go.

berb is on 72% and he has retired from international footy plus didnt start at sunderland so id say 100% starting against west brom

i have 1 more free transfer

also have wildcard if things do go tits up over the next 2 weeks

Unless you have another transfer in mind that has zero room for manouevere, I'd say no. Like you say, there's very little chance of it going wrong in theory, but for the sake of 0.1m, is it really worth it?

I think I'm going to disregard Petrov. had him first 3 or so weeks and did nothing for me. I appreciate he's playing better but I'm planning on getting Elmander and don't want 2 bolton players 🙂

N'Zogbia is a nice thought. Not that bothered if he goes in January but his consistency playing for a club he doesn't want to be at is another consideration

I have Etuhu as a 4.5m I could rotate with I guess (should have got Albrighton in, in hindsight).

I just don't have the transfers available to change Etuhu for probably 3 weeks.

Thinking about Alcaraz or Coleman in that order. Wigan have a better run of fixtures than does Everton. If Everton beat Liverpool, which looks likely at the moment, that would be 2 wins in a row, which may instill a sense of self-belief. I could see them going on a roll if they beat Liverpool.

Starting to see the nasty side of this site now. This site is for ff addicts with readers coming back everyday to get their fix. Mark or someone creates an article on a certain player. Produces somes stats and suddenly he is a must have.

How many people here spent 4 or 8 points to load up on Liverpool players? How many of you now are spending points to get rid?

I wonder how many of you have a physical reaction when you press the transfer button or who are mentally impacted can't make subs?

Think I may have setup a ff recovering addict site. Www. Stayawayfromthetransferbutton.co.uk

no doubt about it it is an addiction, I live for this game, and football in general. I am checking FFS/TotalFPL/TeamTalk all the time, people that know me know this too, especially my girlfriend who is very cool with it. As I say to her, it's a game, and like any other game I enjoy it, and enjoy playing it, it just so happens you can "play" it 7 days a week.

It is certainly better than an addiction to kiddie porn anyway, which always wins arguments!

Yeah the kiddie porn arguments deffinately swings it. Yeah I'm on here 3-4 hours a day reading all the comments.

What I find the hardest is making my own decisions. Sometimes the constant reassurance on here on certain players convinces me that I have to make that transfer.

To combat this I have created 3 basis rules. Avoid hits at all cost

3 times? I change everyday almost, now that I am looking for double risers however I am just fiddling around but not "confirming" transfers, quite a few established players in every side now like Nani/VDV/Malouda/Drogba/Tevez and it's moving the fringe players around, although I will be dropping Malouda for Fabregas

must get some Fifa 11 Xbox players on here, got it and have been playing Fifa since 2000, so am okay, thank god this year you can actually play the wide game and be rewarded with successful headers from crosses etc, the likes of Arshavin/Messi etc are even more lethal this year.

Aaron Lennon was like a little whippet, couldn't get near him! To be fair though, I did play pretty poorly, Ben Arfa and Tiote both seemed pretty handy on it so it seems relatively realistic.
