Another international break has given us the time and space once more to look back over a month (and an extra day or so) across the variety of Fantasy Football Scout Leagues.

Fantasy Premier League (FPL) is of course our most intrepid and time consuming endeavour, so we’ll be starting off on the pastures that are most familiar to us…

Fantasy Premier League

The Good…

We start with a pat on the back for our good selves, which coincidentally means nothing without you lot, as the Fantasy Football Scout league itself is a healthy yard or two in the lead as the league to beat, with almost a 10 point lead. A milestone has also been reached as we crossed 5,000 league members in this last week. Not joined yet? Then roll up, roll up and let’s take over the shop.

In the league we have site poster WhoWhoZela storming the rankings currently, with a healthy six point lead over safir islam in second place as Zophar builds on his August Members League success by rounding out in third place. Five thousand or so other managers have them in their sights.

As for the weekly battles we see Roger C top Head to Head One with a record of six out of seven, better than anyone else, including lead chaser Adil. Head to Head Two sees dadoune lead tinoss based on overall ranking in an even contest among the top four. TorresMagic is miles clear of Mark (that’s our Mark) in our third Head to Head, while Rouge123 tries to catch up on leader Denial in the fourth of our leagues.

Dan B settles into top spot of our fifth Head to Head league thanks to his world ranking of 48th, as The Fish hopes being almost 23,000 places back won’t hurt too much. Cake or Death and BilboBaggins hold the one-two places respectively in the sixth league. The last, but not least, select entry Head to Head (number seven), sees EasyLuckyFree have a slender lead over greghammer95.

There are nine Managers in our Reserve League who are unbeaten after seven fixtures, with one overall point handing Graeme Matthew the lead as of now.

The Bad…
Not to dwell on the unfortunate too much, but everyone likes to know there’s always someone doing worse than them, and those about to be highlighted may even help from a casual kick up the proverbial.

JWF JN, Sparky, SuperDunny, Donnylad, gizmothelegend and rrcmc are the seven managers at the bottom of each of our Head to Head leagues – you’ve got a month or so to get your names off the “must try harder” list.

Shane Ettridge and his vertical smile gets the wooden spoon at this venture, and he’s a little unfortunate as his weekly score of 39 points sees him bottom of the Fantasy Football Scout league – to be fair to him though, he did only start this week.

The Ugly… (otherwise known as the Scout team)

Last time we spoke a measly five points separated Granville and Mark after one month of action; a little over two months gone and Mark has made a charge on his mancunian cohort to pass and now lead by 17 points; that’s what four of those elusive green arrows in the row will do for you. In doing so, Mark has also soared to the top of the Contributors League with a passing manoeuvre on Sir Paulos this most recent gameweek. I find myself in sixth, still, for the umpteenth week in a row but changes are afoot – Pure Olivia is catching up fast, so seventh beckons soon.

Metro Fantasy Football

The manager currently at the peak of the Fantasy Football Scout league is Pat Lawes, making the most of the less than judicious Metro rules by also chasing their own wake in second place too. Hmmm, here’s hoping the multi-teamers see some keen competition from the solo players like myself (oh, I fell from 90th to 104th since last time) as the months roll on.

European Adventures

The midweek Champions League adventures kicked off their long thirteen gameweek adventure and our Scout League celebrates being first place in the league of league competition. Miroslav Markovic and Francois Bozize (our league one-two) have our thanks for that.

The extreme managers who requested a Scout League for some sadistic Thursday Europa League action got their wish. Ajay Gera and Garima Gulyani are the only two of 57 mangers to break one hundred points so far. Scout, and cup maestro, Akers is right up there too in fourth place.

That’s just about everything. See you in early November for some more Scout League fireworks.

Random question from Opta Stats this morning:

Only 3 players have scored over 15 headers in the Premier League in the past 3 (calendar) years*. Can you name them?

*as in since 06/10/07, exactly three years ago.

OK I've got over the stress of earlier:)
I thought of all Liverpool players last week Kyrgiakos looked to be doing well and if Woy likes him does anyone else think he has a chance of a regular spot, especially if it's in a Mummy/Samba sort of roll.Or have I missed something blindingly obvious? The thoughts of the great and the good of this site most welcome.

With the massive problems Liverpool have at the moment, I'd be pretty suprised to see Woy tamper too much with his backline. I think he knows his best side at the moment, and will try and get that as much operating time as possible.

Although why Poulsen would be in ANYONE's best XI is beyond me.

Poulsen is weird one Atilia not seen much of him in the past but I thought he was one of our best players against united, he may not cut the mustard but he deserves more time, plus he's unfortunate to step into the shoes of Jav who was awesome for us IMO.

True enough I suppose. I watched him against Sunderland though and thought he was absolutely awful, not just giving away a ridiculous penalty, I thought his distribution, work rate and positional awareness was League 1 level.
He's new to the Prem though so I suppose I shouldn't crucify him just yet....

Fair enough, didn't see that game so can't comment, but really who has played well for us this season?!!! It will be interesting to see if Woy keeps the faith with the same 11 bar Konchesky in for Kiri or whether he changes it around a bit.

I think he'll keep the 11. He's not a guy to experiment in a crisis, plus I think the Northampton game proved that there literally is no better in the reserves. He'll be praying for a few quid to spend from the new owners, an extremely exciting proposition for Liverpool fans is Diego Forlan issuing a "come and get me" plea. He would be a perfect signing for them.

OK - you look at the percentage, and when it's over 100, the player will rise/fall that night sometime between 1 and 2 pm. If you click on the small square at the top right hand corner of the price rises box, you will get more detailed info. ...

I also look at how much they've risen that day. If a player is on 95+% and has risen 8-12% already today, there's a good chance he'll be over 100% by rise-time

I wildcarded after trying hard not to. International breaks are great times to use it. I think your team needs some work as well. Do it.

Chamakh, Bale, Nasri, Konchesky, Myhill (What is he doing in your team!), Alex out and try to get Fabregas and Tevez in.

It was mentioned earlier that Malouda's real competition doesn't come from Yossi. It is Anelka, Sturridge and Kakuta who provide competition, whereas Yossi would tend to provide competiton for one of the 3 'central' roles...

    Hey guys,

After a bit of advise, (See my linked team)

Really want to get cesc in before arsharvins price drop tonight, but not sure at the expense of, would it be worth a 4 point hit to downgrade tevez, or alterantively taking a hit else where.

Can anyone give me a small bit of advice? Thanks guys.

I actually suggest you wait until GW 10. To get Fabregas in for Arshavin will require lots of tweaking in your defense, because dropping Tevez I feel would be a mistake. Arshavin meanwhile is almost a differential, and he could well hit form and score some points.

Yeah I'm kind of thinking that. Would mean 3 transfers though, Fabs Adam and Elmander in. I just think with the top one I have midfielders who score or get BPs (or both). If you can get a couple of midfield goals that is better than forwards. But Tevez has to stay for this week at least!

I know anything could happen at the weekend but I don't believe that VDV and Bale are "evenly matched". With 3 more games under his belt Bale only has 3 more points.

Now sure this weekend Bale could get 3 assists and score and VDV do nothing and it would all change. But to me VDV is definitely worth the extra money, maybe not a points hit but in the long run I think VDV will outscore Bale by quite a way.

+1 and you don't have to worry about him being dropped back. he's still great value (under 8M) for his position and attacking threats for a top 5 side. plus his involvement in set pieces is vital and he's likely to stabilize himself in an off-striker position/role. everyone will have one or the other either way, and if either is to get injured then the replacement choice is an easy and obvious one.

I know this is 'could have-what if' territory, but Bale could easily have 4 or 5 assists this season. That's the thin line between a player getting points or not. As you say, you could easily imagine it coming right for Bale in the next game and not VDV.

Yeah of course. I guess if we all knew how each player was to perform each week it would be easy. But I still believe VDV is definetly worth the extra money. I'm just trying to fit him in with Drogba Fab Malouda and Tevez, not really possible with Nani as well 🙂

Playing off the striker probably but when Defoe is back he will play more central or on the wing, I think he will play a lot of prem games seeing as he is banned from the champions league (Don't know how for), thing is I don't see where else he could play if Defoe plays.... Harry won't drop his golden boy will he. Actually, he only played off the striker 2nd half, harry realised that VDV isn't a right winger by half time, lets just hope he continues to play there.

he can still play off defoe when he's back. only change would be bringing in defore for crouch/pav and play a 4-5-1- i think this is their most effective system given their midfield options.

probably not much now that they're out of the league cup haha, or unless more injuries arise up front for them.

Agree pretty much what jafstar said but is there not a better option than Gohouri? Isn't Caldwell due to return for Wigan, probably taking the big lump's place?

Personally I would prefer to have Jara in there as my dirt-cheap defender.
