Our Watchlist player rankings have been updated today, reflecting the forthcoming fixtures, current form and recent team selections. You’ll find these tables in your right sidebar on the frontpage.

The eagle-eyed amongst you will notice that we’ve recently extended our season ticker to six fixtures and this has been reflected in the Watchlist – the next six opponents are now considered when putting these rankings together.

Joe Hart stays on the summit of the Goalkeeper rankings but only just. With three away fixtures in the next four and home games against Arsenal and United, he may need to rely on Save Points to fetch the returns. Newcastle’s Tim Krul offers a very viable and far cheaper alternative; with four home matches in the next six against Wigan, Sunderland, Blackburn and Fulham – the Newcastle stand-in looks to offer exceptional value going into November. Arsenal’s Lucasz Fabianski is a notable new entry, gate-crashing in fourth place in the rankings, the Pole may well be a short-term solution given that Manuel Almunia’s elbow is on the mend, but three “kind” home fixtures in the next four appears to offer strong value if you’re willing to trust a Gunners defence that’s likely to be without Thomas Vermaelen for the foreseeable.

John O’Shea benefits from the return of Rio Ferdinand and the solidity that this brings to Alex Ferguson’s rearguard – this has the Irishman climb to the top of our Defender rankings, surpassing Kolo Toure right now on fixtures with three home games in the next four Gameweeks. Everton’s Leighton Baines is the big climber – his fixtures improve slightly over the next six and he is already displaying form with two assists to his name so far. Newcastle’s Jose Enrique is a big climber just below the Everton left-back; more expensive than Mike Williamson and possibly more secure than the returning Danny Simpson, the Spaniard offers assist potential and a strong alternative to Krul in goal with four home matches in six. Notably climbers include Wigan’s Antolin Alcaraz and Sunderland’s Elmohamady who we feel will start delivery attacking points to supplement Sunderland’s defensive returns, despite a harsh run of fixtures to come.

Yet again the Midfield rankings remain pretty steady at the top – United’s Nani and Chelsea’s Florent Malouda holding on to the top two spots, with Fulham’s Clint Dempsey maintaining his position in third thanks to his goal at Upton Park and decent fixtures to come. Blackpool’s Charlie Adam is the big climber and even pips the “bandwagonesque” Rafael Van der Vaart of Spurs. With three home games in four, I feel that Adam offers potential stronger returns over that period as Van der Vaart embarks on away games at Fulham, United and Bolton.

Up front there is also little movement at the top. Dimitar Berbatov’s shock relegation to the bench doesn’t shake my confidence in him ahead of some strong home fixtures, while West Brom’s Peter Odemwingie remains solid in fourth with some decent opponents to come. Andy Carroll holds firm despite being benched at City – I have confidence that he will return to the starting lineup and exploit Newcastle’s kind run of opponents that follow. Bolton’s Johan Elmander and Arsenal’s Marouane Chamakh enjoy climbs with three attractive home games in four to come, despite the lack of form shown by Arsenal’s Moroccan striker.

As always there will be changes to the Watchlist as we near the next Gameweek deadline – Cesc Fabregas and Frank Lampard are almost certain to enter the rankings once we have confirmation of their expected returns. I’ll keep you posted on those and any other notable changes as and when they take place.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

An interesting fact about Jeremy Beadle - he actually had a tiny little cock. Although on the other hand it was quite big.

                Team after WC:

                Foster (Carson)
                ShawX, Mummy, Alcaraz (Dann, Simpson)
                VDV, Nani, Malouda, Fab, Dempsey
                Jones, Drogba (Harewood)

      C

If Berba falls off, drop him for Bent -- but for now, VdV seems vital. And while Arteta has played better than his points suggest, the lack of a scoring force up top has hurt Arteta's fantasy points.

actually, there is one thing I'd suggest: unplug it completely for 30-40 minutes, it may be an overheating problem in which case you need to allow it time to cool...

It is an overheating problem apperently something about the fan overheating and burning the CPU or some sh1t like that. 90% chance my ps is screwed according to some guy some random forum. Il give that a try tommy an if still persists will have to buy a new one. Also just read it's a common problem among 40gb ps's which is pretty sh1t on sonys behalf. Surely they should send me a new one free of charge? since it's a hardware problem. Ps: do u know if I can transfer all the stuff on my hardrive to my new ps if I get one?

Yeah the launch model. Now the thing where I REALLY f*cked up, was after it did the YLOD, I left it 30mins and switched it back on, it came on briefly and then YLOD again - I being a big spazza did not eject the game (brand new MW2) meaning that it got stuck.
Not to dishearten you but I got zero help from the useless c*nts on the PSNetwork. I was well out of warranty, my only option was to either pay €190 for a fix (I'm in Rep Ireland, I believe it is cheaper in England) or buy a new one. I decided on the latter option as they would not give me any kind of guarantee with the fix, whereas the new model came with a decent one.
I bought a special screwdriver and took it apart *sob* and got my game back.
I would advise you to leave it switched off overnight in an attempt to cool it down. Try it again in the morning, if you get any joy your first act should be to eject any disc, your second act should be to back up your system to an external drive (I lost ALL of my saved info).

Ah just noticed you are. Well definitely get on to the PS Network - they were useless with me but maybe you'll get a better employee than the f*cking dingbat orangutan I had. They are cheeky f*cking w*nkers as it is clearly a build error so they should fix or replace free of charge like Microsoft with the Red Ring Of Death

Seems different, hard to put the finger on it, but there is a distinct difference. Its harder for one (had Akers destroying me earlier), and I don't know what the f*ck is going on with the pennys but they are bizarre. Overall it seems pretty good, some new features to it and it looks very pretty.

Guys you should imo demand a replacement or free fix and if they deny (which they will) take it up with the english equivalent of Department of Fair Trading. Warranties are all a bit of joke as all products are covered under a realistic life expectancy and if the product fails due to a manufacturers error as opposed to you mistreating it, inside the time frame that you can realistically expect the product to last then the manufacturer is liable regardless of warranty.

                    for penalties:

start powering up (circle) when the swinging bar hits the green patch
once uve powered up to say halfway, stop powering up
then use the left analog to direct the free kick, BUT noting that the longer u hold it down the more the direction will change, hence it always appears to be kicked out.

go to practice mode, that explains it better than I just did!

I'm sure it's been mentioned before but just read about Benayouns lenghty injury. Since he's out for a few months it'll surely rubbish this growing consensus on here (from people convincing themselves they're right as they're getting Fabregas in his stead) that Malouda could be rested for the Wolves game.

Absolute nonsense, Kalou was Malouda's direct replacement in GW 2 and GW4. Benayoun's injury has nothing to do with whether Malouda will be rested.

      Try this.

Calculate how much your team is worth by the price that you BOUGHT them. So say I had Drogba from the start, I add 12.5 and bought Nani at 8.1, so add that. Your team value should be over 100, because presumably, you aim to sell players after they make profit and avoid selling players at a loss.

I've hiked my budget up 0.4.

I will have 6.2 for selling Alex. For me it is between:
      1) O'shea
      2) Elmoo
      3) Coleman

    hmmm hard to pick,

Oshea is solid but there seems to be alot of chatter about him being rotated with rafael.

Elmo has had a great start and looks good for assists/bonus as hes playing as an attacking fullback

Coleman could be sneaky choice as he will likely be played on the wing like elmo. But there is the risk that he will be rotated with hibbert/neville

Keep an eye on Mancity defenders too. Kolorov could be back next gameweek and i reckon he'll be one of the few regular starters for them. Call it a gut feeling but he is very attacking, takes free kicks and is a beast. Also very highly rated on FIFA games 🙂

For the record i have Coleman and OShea and will probably be getting kolorov in very soon

Ok, I acknowledge many would have already done it, but I am of the belief that over an international break it's not advisable to make transfers until after the games have been played, wouldn't it be better to miss the 0.2 gained to be safe?

          Nope.

0.2 is a lot. Saving these decimals is the difference between having a team value of 103.9 and 102.5. You've got to take some risks. You also have to remember that players aren't supposed to get injured, and VdV might not even play for Holland. Being cautious is really overrated because you benefit so rarely, and often miss out on bandwagons and often regret it when you look at your planned transfers and see that you're 0.1 short.

I just don't think it's the way to play this game.

I disagree. Points > Value. I got burned by Walcott last international break.

And VDV is in the Dutch squad for the 2 qualifying games, so the possibility of him getting injured over TWO games cannot be ruled out

I am with you on this one mate. Team value is so overrated (people get confused between team value and purchasing power; ie earning 0.2 mean you can have 0.1 more when you sell VDV --> irrelevant compared to a potential 4ps loss)

Those transfers seem pretty sensible, but If I was wildcarding, I'd be leaving space for Fabregas to come back in for GW10. I reckon he's the most essential player in the game if fit.

    Current team is

    Foster, Jaask
Alex, P Jones, Williamson, Jara, Foley
    Gerrard, Malouda, Bale, Etherington, Nolan
    Drogba, Tevez, Carroll
    1.0m in the bank

    Looking at:

    GW8: Gerrard & Alex -> Nani & O'Shea (4 point hit)
    GW9: No transfer
    GW10: Nolan & Malouda -> Fabs & Arteta

    Thoughts?

        Alternative could be

        GW8: Gerrard -> Nani
        GW9: Nothing
GW10: Nolan and Bale -> Fabs and Albrighton

        Would leave team of :

        Foster, Jaask
Alex, P Jones, Williamson, Jara, Foley
        Fabs, Malouda, Nani, Etherington, Albrighton
        Drogba, Tevez, Carroll
        0.0m in the bank

Could then play 2/3 of Etherington, Albrighton, Carroll each week.

I think this is possibly better.

Why not just do Gerrard -> Nani. O'Shea isn't going to do more than keep a C/S against West Brom so the best you can do is break even with your points hit. Transfer Alex in GW9 if the injury news looks bad.

        No one rose last night.

You'll have to wait to see if anyone gets injured tomorrow when the Internationals start and then people start transferring out injured player(s) for different ones.

I'm trying to decide between Bent and Berbatov to replace Carroll. I have Nani so it's not like I don't have Man Utd cover for the West Brom game.

Bent long term is a good 2nd striker to play every week, is on pens and is £2m cheaper than Tevez. Plus he allows me to get Fabs back without going mental on transfers.

Barton should be pretty safe, he has played v well and Guthrie isn't anywhere near the standard Barton's been at. However Houghton does seem to be a fan of using his squad! Personally Id look at working Barton out anyway as Nolan took the Pen vs Stoke so that could be moving from Barton or rotating, but thats just me.
