That’s 40 down, just 255 to go before we beat that “Last of the Summer Wine” episode target. We’re only 7 behind on jokes though – the 213 mentions of wrinkled stockings only count once.

Fresh from the international break, Mark and I leave Andy and Akers behind to sneak back into the studio, only to find that someone has pilfered out podcasting furniture. Improvising with some handy white goods, the show goes on to bring you the usual array of regulars that inludes another “Miffed” from my good self, a bandwagon round-up in “All Aboard” and of course the “Weekend Preview” in which we desperately try to snuggle up to Mark Lawrenson high up on the pundit prediction fence.

Help yourself to this aural treat via this link and explore the other 39 episodes right here.

Alternatively you can stream the goodness direct using the player below.

Editors NoteThis podcast mentions both Man City’s Kolarov and Arsenal’s Fabregas before we got today’s news. Sadly we failed to find our crystal ball and our time machine was on the blink.

    OK
I need someone to either agree with me or slap me in the face and tell me to stick with my current lineup
Also...I need opinions on benching either Carroll or Barton this week (or one of my other Dreamteam mids or strikers)

    Team:
    Jaask (Foster)

    Alex Mummy Faye (Dann, Jara)

    Nani Malouda Arteta VDV (Barton)

    Drog Berbatov Carroll

Already made two free swaps before Alex got crocked (that'll teach me) but Ill prob sit on him anyway
Looks like Dann comes in and Jara too if Faye makes way for Wilkinson
My whole defence is away and very shaky

I have 2.0 in the bank
Is it worth a 4 point hit to bring in Oshea or Williamson?

And who the hell do I bench to get Barton on the field???

I'm leaving Barton on the bench, and honestly looks like you'll have to as well.

      Think of it like this
      1. who is likely to score big (I'd say Barton is the least likely of your front 8)
      2. who would you be the least frustrated with if they happen to score decently while on your bench (...once again Barton)

Sorry if you can't understand/don't agree with that logic haha

No worries, I know exactly what you're saying. There's been many times where I am so sure on transfers/team selection but won't finalize it until I can get that extra push from a random post on here haha

And regarding your post below, I feel Carroll will outscore (or get a similar score with) Barton (and there's no reason he won't start right)

^^^BTW, supposed to be front 8*

I thought you were using sunglass dude to denote the kickass, unsubable strikeforce
            Last question EPL...
Should I bring in a defender this week for Alex
Hearing a lot about rotation and if Dann gets 2 pts then thats the same as oshea with 6-4=2
Was only thinking williamson coz he seems like a goal threat and gives me Fab Cash

I wouldn't keep Alex in especially if he's injured. Even more of a change he could only come on for 2 minutes plus with Bosingwa almost fit, I recken Alex will be rotated more. You can't bring in Barton. Make him your number one sub, but there is no one in your team to switch him for. Bring in Oshea (or someone better) not Williamson. You don't want too many Newcastle players.

Sorry for the repost, I hate being the last post on a page!

Took my first hit of the season, but happy with my team.
    Krul
    Hughes Shawcross Elmohamady
    Gerrard Malouda Nani (c) Davies
    Drogba Tevez Carroll
    Subs: Foster Barton Konchesky Jara
    0.8 in the bank

Decided Davies over Barton, because I didn’t want Newcastle overkill. Then the captain choice is tough, but when in doubt go with the poll I suppose.
    Any thoughts?

Alright I'll give you another "think of it like this":
        Who will score more
Dann vs. Arsenal away (1 or 2 points)
Any other defender, but subtract 4 points

I don't think it's worth a hit. If O'Shea was a sure starter this weekend (heard Rafael should start) then that would be an easy transfer, but he's not...

It's too hard to predict clean sheets(especially this season), so I say sit tight mate!

    Hey guys,
Anyone want to advise me on who should be flog first out of...

    Kaboul or Evans

*plus how risky is it playing a Wigan defender as well as a Newcastle one, seeing as they're playing each other! is a 0-0 that unlikely? if I only play one of them I'll have to play Albrighton at home to Chelsea.

    cheers.

I do still have my wild card but I've got most of the big guns already in my team, its only my defense thats bobbins! and next week I'll have Alex playing again (hopefully) only play 3 at the back so no need for major surgery.

Fair enough. I would get rid of Kaboul first as it's only a matter of time before Rio breaks down again.

If your not going to make any other transfers, then I would hold out for that 0-0 draw. Can't see Albrighton getting anywhere with A.Cole on him.

Again yeh would rather take a risk with the 0-0 (meaning now its gonna be a 4-4 goal-fest!)

    this is my WC team

    Foster, (Krul)
    A.Cole, O'Shea, Elmo, (Alcaraz), (Jara)
Nani (C), Malouda, Arteta, Adam, (Barton)
    Drogba, Tevez, Elmander

    currently 0M in bank.
    i bring in A.Cole with 7.9M, a bit expensive,
but i'm planning bring in Cesc for Malouda
and downgrade A.Cole to 6M defender on GW10,
    good idea?

and Adam will outscore Barton for this gameweek?
hard to decide either bench Adam or Barton.

Yes, but Jag has a good change of getting points. Liverpool going downhill and Everton going up. Also, Hahn and Van Damme are playing West Ham, so they have a good change of keeping a clean sheet giving you another week to get rid of them one by one. I still think it's worth it to save the wildcard.

      You copied my team!

Just kidding, but seriously, you have 12 out of my 15 players, so I guess that means you have a good team, at least in my book.

Obviously, you got Nasri in for Fabregas, and intend to get him when GW10 comes along.

I would actually suggest finding a new combination for Coleman + Nasri. You'll want to use your money as much as possible. Funds sitting around, are funds wasted. Playing "just in case" isn't going to cut it at FPL.

Also, your team looks solid enough so that you can save a transfer next week and get Fabregas back for free in time for GW10.

hi all! the fabs news just ruin my past 2 weeks of deliberations. with all that funds idling, i've more or less narrowed it down to the following 2 options.

    a) vidic + essien
    b) cashley + fletcher

both options will go after 2 weeks for fabs + a cheapie defender for gw10, hence only consider fixtures for the next 2 wks (man u: WBA,stk chelsea: avl,WOL)

    wc team is likely:

    foster/krul
    enrique/elmo/alcaraz/carr
    malouda/VDV/nani/adam
    drog/berba/odemthingy

i'm currently leaning towards option a for a higher chance of man u cleanie and also the lampard news meaning essien is unlikely to be rested. i hate internationals!

Any comments on my planned transfers for this week, looking at my team? (2 free ones)
    1. Bale > Van Der Vaart
    2. Konchesky > Elmohamadi

Think the second transfer is worth it? Is Konchesky the right man to go from that lot? Would offload Stam or Jones preferably but don't want too much cash in defense, as will try to bring in Fabregas for GW10... Malouda most likely to make way.

I'd say no. Do it next week if you can so you don't lose the 4 points. If VDV scores one goal/assist he'd get somewhere between 6-9. Minus four points and that's 2-5. Add Bale's minimum score of 2 and you'd be looking at making a profit of 0-3 points... and that's only if he scores. Bale could just as easily pick up an assist. Don't do it for a hit IMO.

He's on pens plus he's always up there when the boni's are being handed out and he'll get assists even if they lose, especially now that they have Jones up front.

    Revised wc team:

    Robinson Jaaskelainen

    Konchelsky Mumster Coleman Salcido Enrique

    Nani VDV Malouda Adam Nasri

    Drogba Tevez Oddbod

Taking out Fabs allows Tevez with Nasri.

Although Odemwingie is injured, likely to be just the one week, you can justify his selection by putting him on the bench as he's playing Utd away this week (you wouldn't play him if he was fit as you have to bench someone from that front 8. )

Overall a very nice team... although I'd be making sure you can slot Fabregas in by GW10.

Agreed. That's the only problem with using your full quota of money now. It's going to take some major adjustment in order to bring in Fabregas.

My midfield: Arshavin, Malouda, Bale, Yaya, Albrighton

          Annoyingly weak!
But I have 2.2m spare to do Arshavin->Fabs in GW10.

As a Spurs fan, I still have massive faith in Bale. This is exactly the same situation as the beginning of the season when everyone was umm'ing and ahh'ing about whether or not to have Bale now he is classed as a Midfielder. I kept faith and chose him from Day 1.

I admit he hasn't scored points lately, but this is mainly due to Tottenhams lack of a clinical finisher. He has made more key passes than anyone in the Premiership!!!

However, VDV has looked a class act and is also suspended from the CL so should be fresh and already looks raring to go, brimming with confidence!

As I've had Bale from the start, I'll keep him (+ he's cheaper). We will see how they get on in the next few weeks.

Who knows, I may use my WC and have Fabs/Lamps/VDV in my team in a few weeks!

I replaced him with Fabregas, Wenger is a fool, allowing him to go on holiday for 3 days when he should be getting fit, he is taking Birmingham for granted like he did with West Brom.

Actually, I agree with this Jafa.

I wonder whether a lot of Liverpool's bad start has been due to the uncertainty and general negative vibe at the club whilst Gillet and Hicks were at the helm?

Believe it or not, that sort of thing does affect the players on the pitch.

As a lifelong Red Sox fan I can assure Liverpool fans that they will now be in good hands, so it wouldn't suprise me if their results start picking up now.

That said though, Everton will possibly be slight favourites on Sunday. But its a Merseyside derby, so anything can happen.

After abit of advice with my team

    Foster Harper
    Alex Samba Shawx Konchesky Figueroa
    Gerrard Malouda Ethers Bale Barton
    Drogba Tevez Carroll

    0.2 in bank, 2 frees.

    Should I

    a) Get a mid & new keeper
    b) Get a 2nd keeper & keep a free
    c) Get a mid & keep a free

Happy enough with the strike force.

    Thanks in advice.

You're probably going to get a host of different replies as there are so many permutations!

Fixtures and ppg are my main guidelines.

Krul and Foster: have you explored Jaas and Robinson? See how they compare to Krul and Fos.

Well we have 2 defenders in common! I just like to free up cash in this area so go with best of the cheapies. See my defensive 5 above. They all offer something at both ends of the field.

Arteta: would like to see EVR scoring some goals first but he's playing well.

      Rest of midpark looks good.

Berba for Tevez - to give you some City coverage - would be my pick. You'll probably need to downgrade Cole too.

      Hope that helps!

Personally, I don't envisage losing A.Cole at any moment i the season. I will lose Malouda before I lose Cashley. His assisting potential is almost as good as a top midfielder and considering he's a defender he's got a pretty sweet finish on him as well.

You won't regret having Mr Cole 🙂

Torres is playing in a derby, so he could go nuts. You may want to follow what happens today with regards the Liverpool's ownership, If they are sold to NESV it could give the club a huge boost, that torres brace could be just round the corner...

      I say keep him

I agree. If we are talking Rooney vs Torres i'd say Rooney head is more messed up than Nando's.

I wouldn't have either until some kind of form is displayed on both their parts.

I only logged on to check the banter / team news..(oh and of course to see if Jafa/Inalize / TM were dueling again...)

And then a surprise podcast...good good. Ah for the days when you could talk as is Fabs would be fit (part of me thinks he may be you know!)

Thanks man no problem, regarding Chill Pill he's being a little quiet, however i'm feeling more reserved today myself as opposed to yesterday where I was indulging in a little adolescent banter!

Wish everyone good luck who put Fab in.

yes I believe that's a fair analysis of my state of being yesterday! Aye, I live near the town centre, i'm in my 3rd stint in Newcastle, best city i've ever been to!

Yes keep me updated on your whereabouts haha, i'm always interested in pubs with good atmosphere's and very reasonable prices!

I'd go for Carroll, Elmander and Etherington. I think Stoke will score and Ethers bound to be involved. Newcastle unlikely to score big against a canny Wigan side, could see a 2-1 scoreline there.

I've got myself obsessed with this stat regarding Chelsea playing on a Saturday evening, so far this season they've won 6-0, 6-0, 4-0 and 2-0. Some on here think i'm mad for using this kind of analysis, time will tell i suppose!

Haven't done my free transfer as yet & could do with some help with my options (in order of preference):

    1)Tevez>Berbatov
    2)Save the Transfer
    3)Shawcross>Elmo
    4)Gerrard>Malouda

    Foster
    Foley Knight Dann
    Arteta Gerrard Nani Bale
    Carroll Tevez Drogba(C)

    Hahnemann Albrighton Shawcross Konchesky £0.4M

    Morning all,

Was considering doing Konchesky and Torres to Elmo and Berbatov this week, in order to fund Bale to Fabs. Now that the Fabs move isn't happening, is it worth still doing the other two, or just one of them? Thoughts appreciated.
