Our Watchlist rankings, summing up our thoughts on mid-term player recommendations, have now been updated and can be found in your sidebar on the frontpage.

Headlines this week include climbs for Chelsea’s defensive assets with both Petr Cech in the Keepers and Ashley Cole in Defenders, climbing to the top ahead of a fixture schedule that should bring them continued returns (WOL bla liv FUL SUN bir). Not surprisingly both Florent Malouda and Didier Drogba continue to enjoy high placings off the back of that run of opponents. Frank Lampard is yet to feature; look out for his inclusion next week if he makes his return against Wolves this weekend.

West Brom’s key assets also enjoy a boost. As Andy pointed out in this week’s “Frisking the Fixtures”, the Baggies have an incredibly kind run of opponents to come, with just City at home and Everton away providing stern tests over the next eight gameweeks. The trend will surely lean towards their attacking players and Chris Brunt, James Morrison and Peter Odemwingie all enjoy high placings as a result. There could be some cheap profit to be made in defensive areas though, with both Scott Carson in the Keepers and Gonzalo Jara in Defenders, enjoying climbs this week. For me, Fantasy Manager’s should certainly be turning to West Brom for a budget signing – the Baggies have fixtures and form on their side.

It’s no surprise to see Seamus Coleman and Elmohamady riding high in the Defender rankings. At a time when we’re scratching around for clean sheets, these two offer strong attacking potential and can be selected regardless of opposition. Both are come relatively cheap and comfortably sit amongst our top five Defender recommendations as a result.

Leighton Baines suffers a drop following the emergence of Coleman, although two Everton defenders doesn’t seem like a wayward tactic right now, given that they’ve kept three clean sheets on the bounce and have a decent run to follow the trip to Spurs this weekend (tot STK blp BOL). Like Coleman, Baines offers good potential at the sharp end.

Keep an eye on Newcastle’s Danny Simpson in next week’s Watchlist. He enters with a modest ranking this week but if he starts as expected at Upton Park, he will offer exceptional value as a 3.9 Defender in the Gameweek’s that follow. Expect him to climb about team-mate Jose Enrique in our thinking next week.

The arrival of Cesc Fabregas freshens up the Midfielder rankings. He comes straight in at number two, hampered slightly by a first fixture against City which has Nani hold on to the top spot. Midfield riches are plentiful right now and the Tottenham pairing of Gareth Bale and Rafael Van der Vaart, along with Malouda, complete our top five. Blackpool’s Charlie Adam and West Brom’s Chris Brunt appear to offer the best cheap alternatives for those nervous about Tottenham’s schedule. Wigan’s Charles N’Zogbia is also a climber off the back of his brace at Newcastle last weekend. His fixtures could be better but we’d expect to see something for him against Bolton this weekend. Watch for Steven Gerrard too; he’s been a quietly efficient scorer and I’m expecting a strong Gameweek from him in the next six, even with Liverpool’s current malaise.

Up front, Carlos Tevez makes the climb over Dimitar Berbatov in second behind Drogba. West Brom’s Odemwingie is still fighting it out with Andy Carroll for fourth spot – only concern over the West Brom man’s fitness keeps him in fifth – expect a further climb once we know he is available for the weekend date with Fulham. Elsewhere there’s little movement with Arsenal’s Marouane Chamakh unlucky to suffer a drop as a result following his biggest points haul of the season against Birmingham. However, the availability of Nicklas Bendtner and the expected return to fitness of Robin Van Persie in November is now casting doubt over his pitch time.

Mark Mark created the beast. He's now looking to tame it.

I dunno, there is talk of him being banned but lord knows if it is true. He had a massive effing and jeffing bustup with Chill Pill as the latter accused RBJ of being overly interested in children in a Gary Glitter way, I only caught the start of it and it looked to be turning extremely ugly.
I understand the mod's frustrations but I'd be sorry to see the last of RBJ on here.

Ach sort of, have to finalise today as I'm off on a stag do tomorrow. For Gw9 it reads
          Al-Habsi
          Bosingwa* / Konchesky / Elmo
Nani / VdV / Fabregas / Boa Morte**
          Berbatov / Drogba (c) / Tevez

          Subs: Gilks, Adam, Tamas, Simpson

*I know the rotation risks, he is a short term idea who will be transferred to a more reliable pick to increase funds for improving Boa Morte when West Hams fixtures arent as favourable
** Yes I know he's gash but I fancy him against Perch and will be transferred out shortly.

It's nice sometimes, but it can be a pain in the ass. From Dave saying "I got your back, because I know you got mine" and me saying "Dave, I don't get in fights every week, and no, I'm not getting my head kicked in with you" to Mike knocking someone out with a cheese pasty.

Mike was wicked, I thought someone gave me a funny look once, and mentioned this in passing to Mike. Mike went over and kicked him square in the ass, and then told him to leave the pub on threat of violence. Funniest thing ever though, all of his mates were inside, and he had to leave his pint inside and just stare through the window until they finished.

But knowing people like that can be a bit of a mixed blessing. If you want more stories, just yell, I have hundreds.

True enough, well Chill is a total wind up merchant to all the Manc fans on here, which is occasionally good entertainment though calling someone a child molester is going too far. RBJ is sporadically brilliant - though he gets too involved with feuds.

Well it's all a bit lowbrow for my taste. My favoured tactics are feigned ignorance (as opposed to genuine ignorance here), confusion, and insulting people in a way that everyone but them can understand.

I once made up a pretty good lie that spread across the internet and lasted for a few months without any input on my part.

I know it's early(ish) days, but I'm seriously thinking I'm not going to make a transfer this week (shock). The only 'must haves' this week (assuming they even play) are Drogba and Malouda, and other than that I'm probably going to need two freebies if I'm going to successfully perform the Fabregas shuffle.

If anyone can be bothered to look at my team I'd be open to any opposing views, but otherwise I'll be hoping Ancelotti gives us some nice news tomorrow 🙂

I then plan to do 3 transfers next week for a 4 point hit...

      Hart -> Al-Habsi
      Enrique -> Simpson
      Yaya Toure -> Fabregas

Will give me an attack of...

      Fabs Malouda Nani Bale Barton
      Drogba Tevez Carroll

Nice - I'd love to have Drogba Tevez Malouda Nani and Fabs, but unless I take a hit it's got to be Tevez or Malouda that goes. Even then I think I'd need to make 4 or 5 transfers to manage it, so I'm planning a Tevez downgrade and an Etherington/Yaya upgrade next week unless something unexpected happens (as it usually does!).

    Hi guys!

just wondering who you would rather have:

    Berbatov or Malouda?

At the moment I have Tevez, Berbatov and Malouda but I have to drop one in order to get Fabregas in....

      I'd say Malouda too.

On a similar note - would anyone sacrifice Tevez to get in Fabregas? That's the only way I'll get him in with a 4 point hit.

I'm a little bemused by the Cesc love to be honest. I know he's a class act and all but he breaks my heart with injuries. And he's SO expensive. I'm not sure Cesc and a 4.5 mil striker will outscore Malouda and Tevez.

Basically, Fabs scores for say a 5 week period, will generally look like this:

        6, 10, 18, 5, 9

Consistant scoring, with the option to go freaking mental. You simply can't beat it.

Show me that 5 week period...

          I think he's crocked.
I'll still probably buy him next week, just after his 24pointer and in time for his next injury.

    Foster
    Alex/Mummy/Konchesky
    Malouda/Nani/Fabregas/VdV
    Drogba/Berbatov/Odemwingie

I realise they might not all be fit for this gameweek, but generally speaking...

You have a loverly team this week, although Richards is now playing second fiddle to Boateng, don't expect him to start and would play O'Shea instead, Arsenal are more likely to score against City than Stoke are against United (despite United's defence being pants, more accurate to say that they won't score a shedfull).

Everton are AWAY to Spurs so woudn't do Coleman this week, and Simpson may not start, so no point doing a doubt for a doubt. Arshavin OUT Fabregas IN is the sweet move this week but you obviously don't have the cash for that? So, Richards OUT Coleman IN this week, play Coleman because he is OOP over O'Shea, and Fab next week

    Bench: Jaask. Davies Coleman Shawcross.

I know (b) seems to be the correct ans but I hesitate to lose Malouda, whom I had from day 1. If I choose (a), my squad will be as follows:-

    Robinson, Carson
    Alex, O'Shea, Dann, Elmo (Faye)
    VDV, Nani, Malouda, (Albrighton, Ferguson)
    Tevez, Drogba, Berbatov

    1. O'Shea > Coleman - If i do it now i can afford Maouda > Fabregas exactly with 0.0m left over next week.
    2. Alex > Bosingwa - Assuming Alex doesn't make this weekend.
    3. No transfers & downgrade O'Shea or Alex to cheapy and swap Malouda > Fabregas for free next week.

Plus I may only have 0.1m spare while waiting to get him. Dont want to early transfer him in if I dont have to

Nope, Coleman OOP, I like to hope for more than a cleanie. I forgot to mention, he has taken an 8 point hit to that team, I have taken a 4 point hit already to.

How'd you know i had Bale in the first place, lol. I'm tempted too but i also want to keep vDV and having 2 Spurs midfielders seems a bit too much.

    Green
    Bale--Boateng--Coleman
    Silva--Fabs--Malouda--Nasri
    Tevez--???-???

Trying to force Berbatov into my lineup, because his price us going to sky rocket now that every united fan knows he's their only striker. Had to force Fabs in this week. Coleman and Silva are hugh value for their price, but should I throw away Green and Coleman to get Berba in?
