Gameweek Nine saw 256 fantasy managers battle it out in the second round of the Fantasy Football Scout Cup III, sponsored by Paddy Power. Those involved surely know the outcome of their own fixture, so to see how everyone else faired this round click here.

If reading the results James Alexander Gordon-style isn’t for you, then read on for the round highlights. However, before I get onto listing the key outcomes, I have to bring you some tragic news… I am no longer involved in the competition, after a 51 – 40 robbery against JohnSteed01. A minutes silence will be observed before the round three fixtures.

One Fantasy Manager who might be able to get over that news is The Plutocrat who, after his 74 – 40 annihilation of timboeve (the widest margin of victory in the round), earns himself a free £25 bet courtesy of Paddy Power.

Just missing out on the prize was rajmanutd who, along with chipsngravey (in a very northern outing), was involved in the highest scoring tie of the round, as the former prevailed 70 – 59.

At the other end of the spectrum was billyboychrisd‘s 37 – 33 victory over dadoune. Which wasn’t the lowest score jammy enough to win this weekend however, CarlowsGalacticos‘ narrow 36 – 35 ousting of Dino wins that award.

That was one of eleven match-ups decided by a single point, which included greghammer95‘s 53 – 52 win over hello 911 it’s quagmire….

Three fixtures went down to the tie-breaker of overall rank, which saw bossdrum, Chris81 and targa eliminate Clive, Burton and Mattenue respectively.

Contrasting fortunes for our former champions sees donnellyc marching on, thanks to a 40 – 31 victory over ham5ter, and Jonty doing one, as a result of his 55 – 48 loss at the hands of Ann_der_roo.

Granville is now the only contributor to have a berth in the tournament, as he saw off wolves_simmo with ease 50 – 32, with Pure Olivia (46 – 40 Ty_Durden67) and I getting beat.

So now we are down to 128, just 10% of everyone who entered the competition. They will learn of their opponent on Thursday when the third round fixtures (to be played during GW10) will pop up on the site.

Well done to those awaiting that fixture list (not you JohnSteed01), and commiserations to everyone bowing out this time round (some with more grace than others).

    Congratulations to Ann-der-ro and his amazing overall ranking.

    good luck all those that made it through.

    Fabregas protection ends today according to TotalFPL, therefore I say anyone contemplating Malouda OUT Fabregas IN may have a chance to make that final .1 on Malouda and sell to Fabregas, I know that is now my plan. Nasri on the other hand will rise Thurs night at this rate

      I'm gonna go as Solid Snake. My hair's almost the right length, and if I don't shave until Saturday I should have enough facial hair.

      All I need is an eyepatch, a bandanna and a cigar. And hopefully a sore throat to get the voice...

    this is why i think it's very possible bosingwa will not start this weekend. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Kzp0Q0jsvE#t=2m44
    if ivanovic was rb this goal would not have been scored

      Haha. He surely doesn't have the best aerial ability but then again neither does Ashley Cole.

      If Alex isn't fit, then Bosingwa will surely start again with Ivanovic at CB. Carlo will want to keep Ivanovic in the CB rotation since Terry / Alex have both had injury problems over the last 1-2 years and there is no cover.

      At least at RB he has Ferreira and Bosingwa.

          Yeah and Carlo said that he'll ease him back slowly- in other words- drop him for the tough games, this being one of them. Hopefully Alex makes it, a 6.2 million defender sitting on your bench is a killer

    worth taking an 8 point hit to get rid of Scholes and Carroll to bring Nasri in for this weekend as captain? Would have to replace Carroll with Varney but team would be -

    Foster/Hahnemann
    A Cole, Elmo, Coleman (Evatt, Baptiste)
    Nani, Malouda, VDV, Nasri, Brunt
    Drogba, Tevez (Varney)

    the question is if I take an 8 pointer, do we think Nasri as captain will get me more than 8 points and whatever Carroll would get me against Sunderland

          like VDV stunting bale's output, pennant looks to be stunting ethers a bit by taking a lot of set pieces off him. wouldn't be too keen on having either right now until their fixturs pick up.

      hold on the bosingwa transfer cause even if he plays and gets a cleansheet you get 6 pts...while lets say vidic gives you 2 pts....but again you are taking a 4pt hit so ultimately bosingwa's score will equate to 2pts...never take pt hit for a defender...always do on free transfer...

    Well done Anorak, a diserved win.

    I'm struggling to undertsand how I lost, 3 points in the lead come saturday night with 3 players the same and leaving me with tevez against Anoraks O'shea.

    How could I lose......?

    Well O'shea gets subbed post 60 mins and pre stoke goal - 6 points.
    Tevez subbed pre 60 mins with no goal, assist or bonus - 1 point.

    Result, I lose 49 to 51 - gutted.

    Anyone think Wenger will go with Bendtner from the start at the weekend or just eat into Chamackh's minutes from the bench?

    Here's a tricky one for you....

    a) Bale & Alex -> Fabregas & Coleman (4 point hit)
    b) Bale & Etherington -> Nasri & Arteta (4 point hit)
