The captain’s poll this week is fairly indicative of one key decision that needs making ahead of Gameweek 10, and something which we will be covering in more detail as the day rolls on. Let’s take a quick wander through how it is shaping up so far…

Cesc Fabregas
Arsenal Captain. Penalty taker (we think). Bonus Point Hogger. Nobel Prize Winner. He’s just about got it all, and he’s also got a march on all the competition at the forefront of captain’s poll this week with 59% of votes so far. All of the aforementioned, tied in with a home fixtures against West Ham (bottom of the table and having just played 120 minutes of Carling Cup action), are all simple indications as to why Cesc is ahead, and well ahead at that; he’s a fantasy thoroughbred. For the views of a select bunch of Scouts on the Spaniard, keep your eyes peeled on the site a little later today.

Samir Nasri
Arsenal midfielder. Back-up penalty taker (we think). Recent friend of the Bonus point judges. Fifth grade spelling competition winner. He’s beginning to live up to his “new Zidane” billing, and for those Fantasy Managers seemingly shy of the money, is representing the next best option in the captains trail ahead of the Gameweek. The Frenchman’s selection as “the next best option” makes it clear that Arsenal are the forefront of most people looking to captain this week with his 15% (along with Chamakh and Nasri too) meaning the team as a whole claim 77% approval.

The rest…
There’s not much meat left on the bone after the Arsenal contingent are taken out of the equation, but a handful of Fantasy Managers do seem set on looking beyond The Emirates. A paltry 7% of managers will be hoping that Didier Drogba bounces back from his irregular 2 point captain’s debacle last week; he faces Blackburn who have a tough home defence boosted by the return of Samba and Nelsen, but you can never bet against the Ivorian. Despite facing his old club, Dimitar Berbatov has only managed to sneak 1% of the vote while team-mate Nani has 2% ahead of the game versus Spurs. It’s slim pickings out there.

Which Arsenal player are you backing then? Are you one of the select few not putting your faith in The Gunners? If you’ve yet to vote head back to the frontpage and do so, whilst remembering to back here and join the impending discussion on those choices made.

ya,but isn't that a transfer or two transfers wasted, just for 6 points? it's ok if you are not playing it as seriously as some others but that's what I thought at the time of bosingwa madness that ppl are just wasting thier transfers and points.

Until we know how regularly he is playing it may not be a wasted transfer. I am playing serious and am doing ok for myself so far to be honest. If Bosingwa carries on playing even better, if he doesnt Ill deal with it as and when.

YES, until he plays regularly, he's not even worth considering transferring in at his price you shud be looking for defenders who play regularly.

It's called taking a risk, Shah. If you have the same team as everyone else (full of 30 and 40% owned players) you get nowhere.

i supposes thats the excuse you give for your score 😛 .And getting bosingwa in last week was not a risk, it was bound to be a failure and him not starting this week will put an end to this and prove who's is actually cleverer/logical.

I've got Bosingwa and I'm bricking it to be perfectly honest. The sensible money's on Ivan to nullify Bburn's aerial threat.

all true, he has been nothing but solid until now and looked to have turned a corner. But it's the look of evil on his face that I saw in midweek and after taking a riding from foley earlier this season I don't think he's gonna bavck down if cattermole puts in a few strong ones.

      Chamakh

Tevez was yellow today and is red now. So whats the deal?

Now that Tevez is flagged it means he'll need a lot more transfers out to drop in price but he can still drop. Once he's fit and the flag is removed there's a protection period where the player can neither rise nor fall.

Tevez isn't protected until the red/yellow flag has been removed when he returns from injury, at which point he is protected for 8-10 days.

When the red/yellow flag is showing he can still drop in price, it just takes a lot more (2.5 times?) transfers for him to do so.

      Need advice

      Harper Carson
      Konch Bosingwa Faye Kelly(ful) O’shea
      N’Zog Albrighton VDV Nasri Malouda
      Carroll Torres Drogba

I have 1.4 million in the bank.

Here are transfers im thinking of doing:
      1) Harper + Torres = Howard + Chemakh/Berb/Hernandez
      2) Albrighton + Torres = Nani + Chemakh/ Hernandez
      3) Malouda + Torres = Fabregas + Berbatov/Hernandez
      4) Albrighton + Torres = Fabregas + Dembele/ 5.6 mil forward
      5) Albrighton + Malouda + Torres = Fabregas + Arteta + Hernandez

      1,2,3 and 4 = 4 point hit
      5 = 8 point hit

      Or any other options?

      Cheers

WANTED. I am looking to test a pair of those new stylish Drogba Blinkers.I believe they force owners to transfer anyone else even for dbl or triple hits, and to ignore current form but to focus on GW1&2. Tying up transfer funds, and repeating ad nauseum the words season essential.

Can they be adapted for other players?

drogba, like tevez, has been a bit average (for his standards) and relying largely on luck and penalties for points in recent weeks. but he's shown more than enough in the past year to suggest he's good value. ignore bench weeks? he was ill

There's no point keeping the WC when your team is average, so use it. Not sure your new one is great either - I'd go for a ManCity Def instead of Sagna, and you need 2 good strikers i.e. Bent plus one more. 3 of ManU's next games are tough so drop Nani and get nasri - cheaper too.

for this week that looks a fair enough change, particularly to get Fabs in.

I would be concerned with that strike force more long term.

Still deliberating on Krul and Foster, Krul is at home but I don't fancy a clean sheet, added to that he never gets save points. Foster on the other hand is playing away, but away to a Villa side who are hardly belting in the goals, I am therefore leaning towards Foster for save points and more potential for a clean sheet.

Krul or Foster? (have Simpson on bench too)

Doubt there'll be much difference in what they get this week anyways. When im in doubt i usually just opt for whoevers playing at home.

      elmo,simpson,elokobi,bosingwa,jara
      vdv,fab,nani,malouda,nasri
      drogba,hernandez,harewood

      good idea?

you should use your wildcard from the beginning on the week before a new gameweek not the end.

Mirror bringing in Heskey, I doubt it. As I said I'm going for broke over these next 3 gw's I've done my 2 free so I'll wait and see if it's worth a hit for someone but I don't think I'll be doing anything else. Who to capt now is the big Q
