Having made it through Wednesday’s Champions League fixtures with little potential disruption to our Fantasy lineups, it’s time to flag up the fact that a new Captain Poll has gone live this evening.

Up until yesterday evening’s events Nani was your leading man in this week’s poll, holding off the hamstrung Cesc Fabregas in second place. Now that Sir Alex has all but ruled out the Portuguese winger from this weekend’s Old Trafford meet with Wolves, we felt only right to allow a new and fresh consensus to build…

Cesc Fabregas may of course now have free reign to top our poll, with a home fixture against Newcastle beckoning. Arsene Wenger expects his skipper to start and that could well offer the Spanish maestro the platform to return a worthy points haul.

At United there’s the Nani alternatives to consider, with both Dimitar Berbatov and Javier Hernandez set to take up the attacking burden at home to Wolves. Didier Drogba looks to have safely traversed his first Champions League fixture of the season tonight, so will – despite a fixture away at Anfield – inevitably draw attention. And, aside from their skipper, Arsenal offer a variety of options in the form of a trio of threats – Samir Nasri, Marouanne Chamakh and Theo Walcott; the latter will be looking to continue his devastating start to the season before injury derailed matters.

The poll is now awaiting your renewed vigour, so make haste and head back to the frontpage and cast your vote, then come back here to discuss and share your decision with your Fantasy Football peers.

Who said groin injuries last only a week?

Lampard has been out 2 months with one.

Torres / Gerrard / Drogba / Defoe have also missed significant time with groin problems.

Perhaps Nani has a MINOR muscle issue, but groin injuries in football are the worst. I've had them myself and you can't pivot, jump, or sprint at 100% for months sometimes.

The good news is that he may have been hauled off in time to make it back in a week for the derby, the bad news could be a month or more out...

yes, groin injuries are the worst. they are very deceptive and can carry on forever and come out at the worst time. lamps had hernia/lipo surgery or something though, so that's a different story.

well albrighton who cares, but fabs will start at least, so will vdv probably and adam will be fine by then. the only one that you need to worry about right now is nani, so just bench or sell depending on what price you paid for him.

    Foster

    Richards Ferdinand Alex (Enrique,Jara)

Bale Fabregas Bale Van der Vaart (Brunt)

    Drogba Hernandez Chamakh

Need a good gameweek now.. Think this team looks strong for next gameweek!

What do u guys thin about my team? will Vaart be ready for this gameweek? And Fabregas as captain, or maybe Hernandez?

Of course the good thing about all these injuries are that there is a reasonable chance that the rest of the normal people in our minileagues who do not haunt this site will not know that their players are crocked. Unless of course they a red [i]'d which is not always the case.

    Howard

    Malouda Nani Adam VDV
    Drogba Berba Carroll

    Subs: Mignolet N’zog, jara, foley

Question is it worth making any changes this week or ride out the injuries. I have both Nani and VDV at fairly good value. Nani 8.7 VDV 7.9

I said that in Nani's thread. Proof what? I also said that Chelsea has no reasons to risk Malouda, based on the lead in the league and 4 matches in 10/11 days. It is common sense.

Chelsea wont be playing him cos he has an injury.

Malouda isnt in a position to be "risked".

Injury plays a part, but Malouda Is in position to be risked, especially even he has a minor injury or precaution.

Again, based on the lead in the league for Chelsea, it has no reasons to risk him in this week.

I have said this 3 times now. Come'on.

I know it is a guess I made, but what's wrong? If it is a ground to support, what's the problem?

If there'll be loads of injuries during midweek (only a random assumption) you'll surely want two free transfers after that gameweek...

So then you can use your free transfer this week.

I don't mind benching a player or 2...but if VDV, Nani and Malouda are out, someone's gotta go (even if just for a week)

I'll take him out..then bring him back in the next game with no points hit..will lose .5 million but I'm more of a points man anyway

If I take another midfielder out I won't be able to field 11..I'd rather field 11 and lose cash than field 10..

Jara? Surely a 4.1 million defender is too much of a luxury to carry on your bench??!

I've them three plus Odemwingie 🙁 Guna try get through this week though without transfers as don't want to jeopardise my transfer plans plus in the mean time lose player value on the players in question.

ok, so it looks like Malouda is out also. So I cant afford to sell him as I wont be able to bring him back, but can sell Nani at 8.8 and he's priced at 8.9 (and could drop if mass selling over next few days). So suitable replacement for Nani for this Saturday? Current team

    Foster
A Cole, Elmo, Coleman, Evatt, Baptiste
    Nani, VDV, Malouda, Brunt, Adam
    Chamakh, Drogba, Carroll

I'm thinking Nasri, Cahil or Park is calling me for Man Utd??

    Same situation as everyone else.

    Nani - Malouda - VDV - Adam - Fabs.

Stack the transfer and play three in the middle? Though I have Odem and he might not be fit.
