The good news for Kenwyne Jones this season is that he is now at Stoke City and is clearly the main man.  No longer playing second fiddle to Darren Bent, Jones is the perfect front man for Stoke’s direct aerial attack.

The bad news for Jones is that he is at Stoke City, where being the main man is only worth so much when your team average is just one goal per game. However, with a decent batch of fixtures on the horizon for Tony Pulis’ side, the ex-Sunderland man deserves to go under microscope and has sneaked back in to our Watchlist rankings this week.

Jones will be glad to see the back of October; having scored in every league game in September -at home to Aston Villa and West Ham, then away to and Newcastle- he failed to find the net in all four of Stoke’s matches last month. His price has subsequently dropped down to £6.8m in Fantasy Premier League (FPL), matching his lowest price this season; just 2% of FPL Managers now own him.

Despite the current goal drought, Jones continues to look dangerous, with just ten players having more goal attempts in the league so far. It’s his fixtures that make him of interest however.

His next seven games through to the middle of December start with an intriguing return to Sunderland this weekend, at a time when the Black Cats are reeling defensively following last weekend’s mauling at Newcastle. Steve Bruce is promising a shuffle of his back and with Titus Bramble suspended, Jones is set to come up against John Mensah – a player who has not started a league game since the opening day of the season – the 2-2 draw with Birmingham in which the Sunderland defence looked far from confident dealing with the crossed ball and the height of sub Nikola Zigic.

From Gameweek 12, Stoke’s fixtures read very favourably (BIR, LIV, wba, MCY, wig, BLP). Fantasy Managers will be tempted to invest in the Potters but with just one clean sheet this season, it will likely be the attacking options which attracts the most interest. With Matt Etherington and the likes of Jermaine Pennant supplying cross after cross from out wide, Jones should have plenty chances to add his 3 Premier League goals (all headers) so far this season.

Add in his two Carling Cup goals, and Jones has registered 5 strikes in 11 games in all competitions so far this season, a fairer indication of his impact at the Britannia Stadium since his summer move. If he manages to keep up the ratio of one goal every two games over the next few fixtures, Jones could well start seeing transfer traffic coming his way.

da Beeeez Recognizing that it's better to be lucky than good, da Beeeez often sleeps through the early games on the weekends...

hodgson clearly doesn't give a toss about the europa league. if i was a liverpool fan i wouldn't be expecting spearing, shelvey and n'gog to beat anyone, let alone a top italian side

Did people not say this about the Carling Cup too? Is there anything they give a toss about? Did they not rest players in the Europa on a Thursday and still get destroyed by Blackpool, at home? Can we be critical of Roy yet or is he still the patron saint of the FFS community?

the league is their only priority this season. criticise away about their league form as at least they play a proper side in the league. like man city fringe/reserve team today i don't see how you can criticise liverpool for not beating a very good napoli side

I know what your saying Dog but Jesus give the guy more than 10 games in the league, people aren't given any time anymore. Quite a lot of those players are Rafas, some for the last 5 years+ u have to give Woy a chance to change those things instilled in them from these past years.

It's just the way they're playing Goose that's annoying me. I've nothing against Pool but I'd like to see Woy shake things up and have a real go..Playing Lucas and Poulsen in the same team against Birmingham and barely scraping a 0-0 isn't helping anyone really. Plus Konchesky was a poor poor signing..Fulham get Salcido, Liverpool get Konchesky..that wasn't Rafa's fault. I hope he proves me wrong but I'm not impressed with Woy in the slightest thus far. Great club though and hopefully things improve

Are you sure it was of all time? If it was you can leave Best well out. Gifted beyond belief but too short a career and never proved on World stage. Of course Gerrard is not in the top 4 of all time.

For me Barnesy but Molby runs him well close. I would want to pick a top 10 really. Callaghan, Molby, Barnes, McMahon, McManaman, Haman all quality.

Top 3 would be Souness, Gerrard and Barnes if I had to choose.

Too short a (top level) career - yes. Never proved on world Stage - not really his fault. Gerrard hasn't exactly set the world stage alight 😉

No, those polls always favour more recent players. Other mids were Zidane, Maradona, Messi. Gerrard is a good player.

and what was this talk i missed of liverpool thinking they were title contenders let alone top 4 going into the season? with all their problems they should be happy to even play in europe again next season. last year i pegged them 6th and this year i think a little worse- maybe upper/mid table like 8th or 9th.

He didn't dive, he was clipped, kept going then went down, he then didn't get the penalty, took a stretch on the ground after a tiring 84mins of work, got up and did what he is payed to do, put the ball in the back of the net.

i think he's saying in general, not on that specific play. that play was a penalty first and then he did what basically any sharp player would do and played the whistle and even checked w/the ref first, similar to what torres did a few weeks ago.

    Darren Fletcher
    Scott Parker
    Sebastian Larsson
    Stuart Holden
Jussi Jaskelienen (how the hell fo you spell it?)

i PERSONALLY DONT THINK 4 OF THE 6 ARE UNDERATED.
Holden perhaps as he is a liitle known player, but the rest are all well established EPL players - christ Flether was God a few weeks back.

Try looking at Jarvis at Wolves, Henderson at Sunderland, Varney Blackpool, Brunt WBA, Kyriagos Liverpool (yes the porn star but he scores goals & attracts man of match awards).

How about the two most overrated?

      Darren Fletcher
      Scott Parker

Most underrated player in the Premiership is Anelka IMO. People, mainly lazy journalists, still seem to portray him as a sulky git who doesn't contribute much, but as far as I'm concerned, he's been virtually our best player this season.

Other than that.... Jagielka and Modric are both very good shouts.

Poulsen aside, Lucas has got better with his time at Liverpool. I still think he's a bit of a square peg in a round hole though - disciplined enough to do the job (and pretty uninspiring with it) but I can't help but feel there is some talent trying to get out.
